Rank 1 - 12/26 something like that

My mindset is to just do enough to stay in Rank 1 there’s no special reward for being 1/26 gives me more time to just grind objectives, which I enjoy more :joy:

It’s not the tackles sticking that is the problem for me, it’s the fact I can’t tackle the AI it defensive 50

Any chance we can play management mode with a custom team @JNT_BA ?

I think the current marking system has a solid foundation, but there’s room to improve the player agency aspect, especially for those not controlling high stated marking players.

some things that could be introduced are:

Manual Jump Control:

Allow players to jump for the mark whenever they choose, rather than being locked to the timing of the green circle. The circle can still act as a visual guide, but not a constraint. Addionally reduce or take away the assist into the marking circle.

This would open up more dynamic contests and reward players with good timing, positioning and understanding of whho they are controlling and up against.

This would allow

Strategic Early Jumping (For Shorter Players):

Right now, the system heavily favours taller or high stat-marking players, which makes sense, but shorter players should still have the tools to affect the contest.

If a shorter player jumps early and takes position, it should allow:

Disrupt the taller opponent’s run/jump - or ability to get into the ideal position

Force them into a non-ideal position to jump for the mark

Potentially draw a free kick (push-out / in the back) if they illegally bump you out of position

On the other side of the boat
Also punish your jump if they go WAY too early - reduces your ability to react or adjust.

Gives your taller opponent a clear target to time their jump over you.

You may peak too soon, meaning your hands are already coming down while your opponent is still going up.

Why It Matters:

more control in contests, instead of feeling locked into animations or outcomes.

Timing and positioning would matter more, not just attributes.

Would lead to more unpredictable outcomes, with balls going to the ground more often, increasing ground-level contests and making the game flow feel more realistic and earned.

You shouldn’t always win the mark based on how tall you are or stats, and you should feel like you still can influence the outcome.

Right now, that’s not always the case if you’re not the best aerial option.

You pretty much scripted my next video for ā€˜AFL 26 Gameplay Tips’.
Hahaha.

But I now REALLY want to know your tackling strategy… I don’t have one, so revert to smothering… maybe more than I even should.

Flick the right stick then tackle - it still works (sshhhh, don’t tell anyone )

Right Stick? You mean Square for a bump?

Nope - right stick, then tackle. Just like it used to in AFL live and #23.
@dont_argue04 shared some stuff I held back, hopefully I haven’t just ruined his secret

Edit bump / tackle works too

Hahaha to be honest bumping isn’t really working for me, it works off the ball but If I pick to bump the player in possession it rarely works for me.

I’ll keep that in the back pocket though :joy:

How to tackle:

Hold R1 to suck your player towards the player in possession. Simultaneously hold R2 to close them down as quick as you can before they get a kick/hand passaway. And then simultaneously hold triangle. So all up you’re holding down three buttons at once. Don’t let go until the whistle has gone for a ball up or they’ve got the ball out. If they do get the ball out, make sure you don’t keep holding triangle because you’ll give away a free kick, especially in career mode where it doesnt automatically switch to another player.

Thank me later.

2nd time now, game has crashed while in a ladder leaders game. Lose all my progress and now don’t have another entry ticket.

Thank I’ll try this out tomorrow, any chance we can get this fixed to one button? @JNT_BA

Why is player career so rigged? Ill be at 3qrt time while 5 goals ahead, and then somehow my team turns into under 12s and the other team kicks 6 goals in 3 minutes to win. Has happened 4 times

If there a way to not take the advantage after getting a free kick? As soon as one of my players touch the ball it’s advantage? But when it happens to the AI they don’t have to take the advantage. I’m assuming there is a button for it, would be stupid not to.
