One small thing I’ve noticed design wise is the supports don’t always seem to be wearing their team colours, not every supporter will but would be good to see some of them in their team kits and considering you’ve designed multiple years of team kits would be good to see a mix of the old and new kits on the fans, would add that slight be of realism.
Just a thought on the future addition of career mode.
I assume you still have the RWC 23 licence, perhaps this would be a good starting point in career mode if selecting a national and club side to manage like Rugby Challenge 4.
Ive found in other rugby games, when a new RWC comes around, each game is in random stadiums all over the world, depending on who is playing which is a bit strange.
As there will be a huge number of stadiums (wooop!) in the game, perhaps career mode can randomly select a region/country every 4yrs as a ‘host’ of the new world cup (assuming these would be generic world cups after 2023) , so all games are in different stadiums in that country/region for a touch more realism. Itd be a great way to showcase stadiums that players might not have explored etc
On penalties, I was playing RWC2011 for the first time recently and a few things stood out; contesting rucks, and being able to deliberately collapse scrums etc felt the best in any rugby game to date IMO. This meant the penalty counts felt very realistic. Contesting the ball in rucks would often lead to penalties against both sides for sealing off the ball, holding on to the ball in the ruck, not releasing the ball carrier in the tackle etc.
So excited for this game, looking better and better with each update now!
playing on a laptop here, equipped with nvidia geforce 3060. Usually the nvidia “geforce experience” app finds the games on my computer and helps me set the perfect graphics settings. Just wanted to let you know that it doesn’t recognize rugby25.
There needs to be some kind of reward system/momentum shift in this game.
When im defending in my own half/22 the AI just gets unlimited phases to attempt to score. The most common way i take back possession is by a interception or they just eventually score.
I think the player needs to be rewarded for good defending such as winning a pentalty for opposition holding on.
If my opposition is attacking inside my 22 and If i defended my line for 20+ phases and then won a penalty it would feel like a genuine achievement.
Could you implement momentum swings in the game such as your teams stats could be increased temporarily whilst your opponents gets lowered and/or they have a higher chance of committing unforced errors such as knock ons?
Played the game last night and though there are some notable changes these are not enough to make the game feel like you are playing or watching rugby.
Still no structure with just passing left and right, with passing still being pretty unresponsive. This means that gaps and overlaps can’t be exploited, my tires came from offloads rather than line manipulation.
My 10 just got hit constantly with no way to really play off him. Forwards are almost as fast as backs and everyone has the same strength so there was no real gain line success from my big forwards against wingers and no interplay with forwards or backs. We need some structure, with forward pods and the ability to pass out the back to manipulate defence.
Again defence is pretty pointless. There is no sucking in defenders to create space out wide. Opposition players can shoot out of line with no consequences or way to exploit it. And when I defended I felt like I didn’t need to do anything. And with no way to steal the ball I just waited for the the opposition to kick the ball back. No pens on either side as well.
Stadiums also don’t look like their stadiums. For example, Ravenhill for Ulster is pretty much a generic stadium.
The feedback is killing me the feedback we getting from big ant these days is very little but hopefully they are pushing a big update through and suprise us all
yeah, we got it, you missed the deadline for the online patch, no hard feelings. But what about interim patches ? There’s no rush for online but a few small patches there and there would be awesome.
And a word from you would be great too. Please communicate with us, we don’t even know if we are waiting for something to be released.
Yeah i think its not nessecary for Online now, there is not too much players playing the game but a feedback could be useful instead of just waiting and wondering when the next patch will be
I agree. Implement all the rules/laws first. So many exploits in the game, online will be a mess.
On another note, something that i found bugging me today were some of the animations. It would be nice if some of the animations are player/role/attribute dependent. I had a prop dive from several meters out, flamboyant dotting down for a try in the corner. Whilst this is cool to see, and i would love nothing more than to see this in real life, its not too realistic. Haha
To add here, I noticed they brought in the tape above the knee (around the thighs), which is great, but under head gear, we also need the tape option for those forwards who wear tape on the head and over the ears. Thanks
Been playing more and getting more frustrated with the defence. I’ve expressed thoughts on this before, and had a few more ideas on this, but it really needs to be addressed to make this game enjoyable.
As I’ve said before there needs to be defensive manipulation to create space and there also should be there to utilise. For example, using the L2 and R2 buttons I can pass to forward pods. If I fail to change my defensive structure, this should be easy yards to make. Better teams can transition better. If I use the action button the scrum half should stay away and I can pick and go. Again failure to react means easy yards. If I do react the defence is pulled in tighter and therefore space created out wide. Like in FIFA the D pad should be used for this.
Left - defence tighter
Right - defence wide
Up - kick defence depth (drop wingers back to cover)
Down - line speed
The down option is a new thought. A team can use down on the D pad to active line speed. This will drain players fatigue quicker. When the option is selected the defender can tap R1 and R2 together to shoot the line up. Do it with good timing have good line speed. To early, give away penalty. Too late, create a dog leg. High risk, high reward.
Further to this, as I’ve said before, so apologies, the L2 and R2 passing options to forwards needs further options to create space. Straight L2 and R2 pass to forwards. L2 and R2 with A option out the back pass to 10. This stuff is so basic in modern rugby that it needs to implemented.
Finally, in terms of defense a jackal option needs to be added to the game. This should be implemented with players that have the ability to do it. A small mini game should be the option to steal the ball, if the wrong combo is put in a penalty is given away; the higher the player rating the more simple the code, the lower the skill the more complicated the mini game.
Firstly, I just want to say how excited I am about Rugby 25! The inclusion of official teams for England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland will be awesome, and I can’t wait to see them in action. I was wondering if these licences also mean we can expect to see the British & Irish Lions in the game, especially with their upcoming tour to Australia next year.
It would be fantastic if you could include a feature similar to the tour mode from EA’s Rugby 06, where players could select a country (New Zealand, South Africa, or Australia) to tour with the Lions and follow a full tour schedule, including matches against provincial clubs and the national team.
Additionally, being able to build your own Lions squad from a pool of eligible players from England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland would add a great strategic element, making the experience even more immersive. This kind of feature would undoubtedly enhance the game’s depth and replayability.
I wanted to share an idea regarding the Jackal mechanism in the game. Personally, I’m not a fan of mini-games in sports titles—they often don’t feel intuitive. However, I do think the Jackal action needs to reflect the effort and timing involved in real-life play.
My suggestion is to build on the existing “X to steal” button. Pressing X could act as a latch onto the ball, followed by a button mash (e.g., A) to simulate the physical struggle of ripping the ball away from the opponent’s possession. This would feel more intuitive, like you’re actually grabbing and ripping the ball.
Additionally, this approach opens up opportunities for more natural rule enforcement. Once a player is latched onto the ball (using X), the referee could give verbal cues indicating if the player needs to release. Ignoring these cues could then result in a penalty. This method would make the Jackal action feel more immersive without relying on intrusive UI elements or flashing prompts on the screen.
Just a thought—I’m sure you already have something in the works.
I have bought the game in advance and so far I have liked it but there are things to improve. I suppose that when the full game is finished it will have all the licenses for all the teams, as for gameplay it needs to be polished the rucks and give more dynamism to the plays
I suppose that with the next updates they will improve everything
They have all the technologies at their disposal to make the best rugby game of today, just pay attention to us, the rugby lovers who are the ones who will consume the game the most
@JNT_BA and @MattW why is the communication so poor? I mean you guys said a couple of days. The goalpost keeps changing on the update, but no communication. Its like you guys are trying alienate the fanbase.
