Early Access 5 (EA5)

Could you please fix Aviva Stadium in Dublin, both ends of the stadium are identical which isn’t the case in the real stadium. Thank you

Been playing more and getting more frustrated with the defence. I’ve expressed thoughts on this before, and had a few more ideas on this, but it really needs to be addressed to make this game enjoyable.

As I’ve said before there needs to be defensive manipulation to create space and there also should be there to utilise. For example, using the L2 and R2 buttons I can pass to forward pods. If I fail to change my defensive structure, this should be easy yards to make. Better teams can transition better. If I use the action button the scrum half should stay away and I can pick and go. Again failure to react means easy yards. If I do react the defence is pulled in tighter and therefore space created out wide. Like in FIFA the D pad should be used for this.

Left - defence tighter
Right - defence wide
Up - kick defence depth (drop wingers back to cover)
Down - line speed

The down option is a new thought. A team can use down on the D pad to active line speed. This will drain players fatigue quicker. When the option is selected the defender can tap R1 and R2 together to shoot the line up. Do it with good timing have good line speed. To early, give away penalty. Too late, create a dog leg. High risk, high reward.

Further to this, as I’ve said before, so apologies, the L2 and R2 passing options to forwards needs further options to create space. Straight L2 and R2 pass to forwards. L2 and R2 with A option out the back pass to 10. This stuff is so basic in modern rugby that it needs to implemented.

Finally, in terms of defense a jackal option needs to be added to the game. This should be implemented with players that have the ability to do it. A small mini game should be the option to steal the ball, if the wrong combo is put in a penalty is given away; the higher the player rating the more simple the code, the lower the skill the more complicated the mini game.

Hi team,

Firstly, I just want to say how excited I am about Rugby 25! The inclusion of official teams for England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland will be awesome, and I can’t wait to see them in action. I was wondering if these licences also mean we can expect to see the British & Irish Lions in the game, especially with their upcoming tour to Australia next year.

It would be fantastic if you could include a feature similar to the tour mode from EA’s Rugby 06, where players could select a country (New Zealand, South Africa, or Australia) to tour with the Lions and follow a full tour schedule, including matches against provincial clubs and the national team.

Additionally, being able to build your own Lions squad from a pool of eligible players from England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland would add a great strategic element, making the experience even more immersive. This kind of feature would undoubtedly enhance the game’s depth and replayability.

Thank you for all your hard work and dedication.

I have bought the game in advance and so far I have liked it but there are things to improve. I suppose that when the full game is finished it will have all the licenses for all the teams, as for gameplay it needs to be polished the rucks and give more dynamism to the plays
I suppose that with the next updates they will improve everything

They have all the technologies at their disposal to make the best rugby game of today, just pay attention to us, the rugby lovers who are the ones who will consume the game the most

Thank you for the progress to date, it seems that it has now stagnated somewhat. I would like to see, and I think our fellow rugby fans as well, more frequent updates addressing the actual practical issues at hand (lots of these have been mentioned before), i.e.

  • cannot challenge lineouts
  • gameplay is one-sided and repetitive. AI only scores because controlling tackles on defense is not easily achievable
  • introduce actual laws…offside rules, hands in the ruck, obstruction, illegal clear outs at mauls, penalty tries, etc.
  • Player differentiation in skills pending on age, position, experience. This can also be introduced in tournaments where a player can improve in skills based on performance, but also needs to be rotated due to fatigue. This will add a lot of realism to the game (player management).
  • Shoulder charges, hand-offs and stepping is not very effective at present and needs to be fine-tuned

There are so many things being mentioned before that can be added to this game to make it the best rugby game ever, but we need to see more action from the developers, to get more action on the field. 5 minutes of playing at the moment, and I switch the game off due to boredom.

The graphics and animations to date is great, however more animations would also add to realism. Slow-mo high tackles, clear outs, players pushing each other (Ezebeth vs Ala’alatoa

The game has potential, but regular and more progress related updates are needed. We all understand that this is a work in progress, and a huge undertaking, but please keep the fans and players in mind, as we have been waiting for a very long time. Just communicate and acknowledge us.

All in all, well done so far Big Ant, and looking forward to the next update…hopefully soon.

We don’t decide what is said on dates and tweets and updates on things like that. While there is things we can say like sure the game is being worked on and we’re working towards to the next EA release. We don’t announce anything, that’s not under our control. In some cases all that I have to say is nothing as we don’t make those kinds of calls unfortunately.

Game has been improving a ton but there are some small things that would greatly improve the game.

  1. People around the field.
For example cameramen, players warming up, ball boys, water boys, the
    bench and etc

  2. I’m not sure if a player career is to be instituted into this game but It would
    be awesome.
Really setting the game on field. Rather than playing a cutscene, have it
happen on field, but the camera till focused on your player.
Rather than auto assigning your player to the kick off positions, after a try or
points are scored, you run back with your players, which could give a bonus
of stamina if you do it quickly.
    A closer on field camera.
A no graphics option. Since you are the player on field, there are no
graphics, and you would have to look at the stadium screens to see even
the score. That would also mean that the stadium screen would have to be
from the sideview camera most likely.
Post-match interviews if you win a man of the match.
Pre-match | post-match interviews if you are the captain. (even if they have
    no use it adds realism)
Training, as in training drills like: Fitness, Tackling, passing, conversion
kicking, kicking for touch, 1 on 1s, 2 on 1s attack, 3 on 2s attack, defensive
drills, mini games of touch (boosting fitness and speed and passing
attributes), but all these training drills will for one boost your in game
performance but also boost your player overall.
    Country selection.
Team interest (as seen in rc4)
And something not 100% neccesary but I would sometimes like to see the
coach putting you in different positions. Per say you are a winger, he might
try you at centre, or fullback for a game, and depending on how way you
play, he might choose to play you there. Not always choosing a position
and only playing that position forever, but the coach will experiment.

Again not sure if a player career is to be added, but I don’t think there is
    anyone who doesnt want one.

  3. More graphics, like game stats, scrum weights, how many pentalies
conceeded, meters made, and anything relative.

  4. Penalties to be added

  5. Similar to Valhalla’s Jackal system,
I think timing of players in the ruck should be crucial, and not always a
counter ruck win to get the ball, but, the ability to get your player in there
first, hit X to grab, and mash A to rip it, in which the opposing team can
mash A also to hold onto it, so depending; if the defensive team is in there
first and jackals, that team must let go, but if there was a player already in
there the opposing team can hold on for it is hands in the ruck, but also,
for example if you use the tackler to jackal, he must have been standing
up and let go off the tackle for it to be a successful jackal. and verbal cues
    such as

    “release tackler” (jackler release)
“let it go now” (opposing team let go)
“tackler let go of him” (tackler needs to get off the ball)

This also opens a gateway to more penalties, that you can try get away
with also. Once a tackle is made, and you enter the ruck by holding
(example) left on the d-pad, pins them in the ruck to try and milk a not
    rolling penalty.

Anyways the game is growing great, would love to see some of these implementations.

All that’s fine but if you guys can say the patch will be releasing in a couple of days as you did a couple of weeks back then surely you can post and say that the patch is delayed until it’s ready or something on those lines.
People are frustrated because the last bit of communication from the team was telling us the patch was going to release hopefully in the next few days. That’s nearly two weeks ago. You set people expectations so it’s not unreasonable for people to be frustrated or have questions.

I feel like you wrote that without reading what I said. Neither Matt nor I determine what is in tweets or updates. It’s not our call to make. We don’t control that. We understand, we do, but that’s not him or I.

Another thing they can add for career mode is the IRB yearly awards ceremony maybe like breakthrough player of the year coach of the year player of the year

Yep, you’re bang on. I should have read back over that comment before posting. My apologies for the hard read.

I guess it is what it is, if you don’t have the authority to post that information there’s not much you guys can do. Thanks for the response. Obviously it would be nice to have more information but I understand your situation.

Understandable and when we can say things we can and do. But yeah sometimes it’s not in my control. I’m on the reddits, discords I’m all on twitter and see the things, so so many things. This month is just a little different with the online delay.

The aspects where Big Ant needs to touch on is DEFINITLEY the lineouts and mauls. You cant even contest the lineout on the opposing side and can’t even pick to throw the ball back out to the offensive line or to keep it within the group and start a maul, the team just puts you down and you either run or get tackled straight away. Another flaw is the kicking mechanics.

The kicking mechanics feel so 00’s-ish that it’s almost that bad. If Big Ant could implement the kicking mechanics from Rugby League Live 4, I feel like it would make it more smoother in terms of attacking and defending as in RLL4, there was a meter that you could use to time whether or not you’d get the ball while it’s up in the air. You could also use your right stick to hit it back to your team in hopes of crossing the line for a try. ALSO, PLEASE put in a circle in where the ball is going while it’s up in the air. I know it seems pointless but I feel like it would be a good addition. L2 kicking (allowed you to aim where you wanted the ball to go before the full kicking animation took place) would also be a huge addition, since the kicking sensitivity is TOO QUICK at the moment. Please implement atleast two of these additions from RLL4 as I kid you not, would help the game out alot.

The stepping animations sometimes slow you down which lets the opposition move up and tackle you so easily, even after you’ve stepped the first defender. The rucking system is a bit outdated also, more people in the ruck = you win it? even using something like button mashing to win it like from RWC 2011 where you pressed A/X to win it. Also bring something in that gives the defending side to win the ruck when it’s only one attacker and no other defenders in the ruck, like a jackal button.

The quick throw button from the lineout doesn’t work properly, it’s crashed my game three times already, with this the whole lineout mechanics need to be looked at again. If you guys could also bring back the R3 hits from LL4 to cause a big hit or even a ball spill, that would be GREATTTTTTTTTTT. (and also more diving animations for the corner, I BEG)

I know the games in early access but as a long time supporter of Big Ant games, I feel like you guys have the chance to make one of the best rugby union games ever, next to rugby 08. Please atleast try and fix the kicking and make it somewhat like LL4, as kicking in Rugby Union is a game changer, depending on how you look at it.

Thanks.

Think we should rather have sorted gameplay out and other stuff before launching online which will just cause most likely more headaches

Online will force a gameplay update.

How do you wanna play online if its not even smooth yet original gameplay?? Sort out what we hace now before rinning to different things

I agree that gameplay need to be sorted first. That is why online will help that. In the current state online gameplay will be terrible. But hence online is on it’s way there must be more focus on gameplay. Therefore the online patch will most likely bring massive gameplay improvement.
