A sneak peek they removed within an hour and they’ve gotten a YouTuber to go play it before launch sometimes, just makes me feel like somethings up
If something is up they will tell us.
You can still find the video. It’s still up on Twisties channel
Why should they bother showing in-game footage before release when all people are gonna do is whinge about every minute flaw they can find.
In the lead up to AFL 23 the AFL included a 2 second snippet of in-game footage in a season launch promo video and BigFooty literally went into meltdown over it and accused the AFL of using footage from AFL evolution with improved lighting.
No I’m not joking.
Im happy to put my hand up and go in there.
Whats the video about? And where can i view it?
look up “twistie afl26” on youtube
Thanks. I really hope @JNT_BA gives us some more game play trailers this week and more information
These are a few minor things that I hope have been fixed or added into AFL 23, as well as some small details I’d like to see in the game in the future:
Cheer squads at the right end:** As a Richmond fan, nothing bugs me more than playing a career mode game at the ‘G, and it’s Richmond’s home game, but our cheer squad is down the city end. I’m not a developer, so I have no say or influence on this, but surely it’s an easy fix.
Camera angle on the correct side of the ground:** At grounds like Marvel and Optus, the in-game camera is on the wrong side of the ground, which just makes the experience feel less realistic. Simple details like this can make a huge difference in realism.
Crowd sizes: This is a big one for me. If I’m playing as North Melbourne at Marvel and we’re playing Freo, the crowd shouldn’t be full like it is in AFL 23. One setting I’d love to see is the ability to choose the crowd size — for example: 20k, 30k, 40k, 50k, etc.
Day/night cycle:For example, if you’re playing a game that starts at 4:30pm, it should begin with the sun setting and be dark after halftime. It’s just another feature that adds to the immersive experience.
Players on the bench: I really hope this has been added — and if it hasn’t, it’s a real concern. Having players visibly sitting on the bench makes the game feel so much more realistic and brings the whole matchday atmosphere together.
Digital picket fencing updates at the ‘G:** This one’s super picky and doesn’t affect me as much, but with the MCG getting new digital picket fencing on levels 2, 3, and 4, I’d love to see that included.
Sponsor rotation on digital signage:** Another picky one — when sponsors are shown on the digital fencing, don’t cut them into random sections around the ground. Instead, have one sponsor wrap around the entire digital fence for about 10 seconds, then rotate to the next. These small visual things stand out to long-time footy fans.
National anthems during finals games, not just the grand final, along with full crowds for all finals matches, would enhance the atmosphere significantly making it feel like a big finals game
Realistic fan placement: Again, super picky, but for games like Melbourne vs. Gold Coast at the ‘G, don’t fill the top level with fans. Leave it as empty seats indicating that it’s not open. It’ll make the game feel much more realistic.
I would love to see them bring back the salary caps to each side outside of career mode just like AFL Live 1. Every player had a listed salary.
Hypothetically you can save your team over the cap, however when creating an online custom match, you can toggle custom teams on and an option to either enable or disable salary caps.
This would assist those playing/running online comps to have a more authentic feel to it!
I’m sure the promos are coming but is it unusual not to have more fanfare around the game 3 weeks out from release?
Are you referring to the 1.5 seconds of footage showing Heeney?
Looking at some of the comments online I empathise with BA and perceptions around the release - no matter how good 26 is there will be suggestions that this is what 23 should have always been in the first place. Especially if there is no overhaul to the graphics.
Just have to take stock in the fact that almost two years later the ‘I canceled my preorder’ crowd continue to hang around commenting every second day. If anything the numbers are as healthy as ever. Why is that I wonder.
is it going to be on steam/PC if so when?
I hope the coach management mode has more of a link between the AFL team and reserves.
E.g. I’d love to be able to play both the seniors and reserves games each round, promoting players based on form and injuries.
Yes there will be, not sure when it’ll be available to Wishlist on steam but @RossSymons mentioned in a twitter comment that it will be available to purchase on steam when it releases on the 8th
I hope in tactics you are able to tag a player, like you can choose a player to tag a player. For example
Toby Bedford tags Zach Merrett
James Jordon tags Nick Daicos
Yeah I agree with these points. They aren’t important but having these would make the game seem more realistic.
-
The cheersquad one is noticeable if it’s the wrong end at stadiums like AO or GMBHA etc.
-
Marvel red seats should be seen with the opening bounce etc if the camera is the correct side.
-
Dynamic crowd would be good, especially if a team is doing bad then they should be getting lower crowds to their home games & maybe even the crowd leaving if the home team is down big in the 4th qrt etc
Whenever the gameplay video is released (whenever that may be… honestly, I don’t care when), I hope one noticeable improvement is that Big Ant addresses the issue of getting tackled while attempting to kick.
I’ve always believed this happens due to a sudden drop in forward momentum when players kick. I hope to see players maintain at least some forward movement while kicking.
The same issues occur with handballing and receiving the ball; there’s a significant decrease in movement during these actions as well, even on the run.
The manual aim feature for kicking was a great addition in AFL 23, and I believe having a similar option for handballing would also be beneficial. It would be great to kick or handball in the direction where I want my player to run to.
Final thing - FIX THE TELEPORTATION ISSUES - this isn’t an AFL 23 specific thing. HAPPENS ON ALL BIG ANT GAMES - wonder if they just dont have enough animations for their characters and tht teleportation happens as a result
I pray that they release a free “academy” on steam so us console players that have PCs can upload logos etc
OR
Would love to see Big Ant have a website where you can upload logos similar to MLB or eFootball and then they appear in game. AND your online match stats history would be unreal! With potential CSV exports - I would think with the “Match ID” this would be possible. Probably way over the top but one can dream
Did anyone get AFL23 on both PS5 and PC? Tossing up which to get it on this time around.
