Curious to know if AFL26 is built on existing AFL23 engine? If so, was there much work in tweaking the engine so that game play and user end experience feels and looks different or more of an incremental advancement/improvement? For example AI behaviour, additional commentary lines, in game user controlled players responsiveness etc…

Can only hope that today being a ‘BIG’ celebration, could we be getting a BIG announcement/screenshot :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Well I’d say we did get an announcement without saying it’s an announcement, face scans have been done for the upcoming game :face_with_peeking_eye::shushing_face:

@JNT_BA I’m just wondering when we are going to get any news from the game. I am getting worried that the lack of news is pushing this game to get delayed. I’m wondering if there will be a trailer, new gameplay from content creators and new photos on websites like Jb-hi-fi and EB games in the coming days. I’m also asking when the game will be able to be bought on PlayStation digitally. I’m really pumped about the upcoming release of this game. This isn’t a complaint, I am politely asking the current status of the game.

@JNT_BA i know the game didnt go the bombers way and believe me i was going for them.. but surely you can reveal some more info about the new game maybe even some new pics etc. Thanks

Maybe Sidebottom receiving his Anzac Medal @JNT_BA

Surely written by ChatGPT. I mean if that was all in the game that’d be great

Here is the whole thing for anyone interested;

"AFL 26 has been widely hailed as a revolutionary leap in Australian rules football video gaming, setting a new benchmark for realism, immersion, and footy strategy. Developed by passionate footy fans and crafted with unprecedented detail, AFL 26 is the game that fans have been dreaming about for over a decade — and it’s finally here.

For the first time in franchise history, players are treated to a living, breathing footy simulation that captures the chaos, beauty, and tactical nuance of the real sport. The game’s AI overhaul introduces dynamic gameplans, adaptive defensive structures, and lifelike ball movement that mirrors real AFL match flow. Teams can now switch play intelligently, clog up space, flood the backline, or go full throttle with precision coast-to-coast attacks — just like their real-life counterparts.

In a move that has sent strategy-lovers into overdrive, AFL 26 introduces fully customizable stoppage setups. Players can now manually position midfielders, rotate structures mid-game, and even implement set plays for centre bounces, boundary throw-ins, and ball-ups — bringing a whole new layer of tactical depth to the virtual field.

The manual ruck hit-out system is a game-changer, allowing ruckmen to direct taps with skill-based timing and follow up their own contests with unmatched responsiveness. Gone are the days of random outcomes — every hit-out, every contest, every clearance now feels earned.

Fatigue and speed differentials are now more impactful than ever, meaning big-bodied rucks can no longer chase down fleet-footed wingers, and fresh legs off the bench can break a game wide open in the dying stages. Add to this the most advanced collision and ball spill physics ever seen in a footy game, and you get contests that feel brutal, unpredictable, and oh-so-authentic.

Set shots are no longer a gimmie — the revamped goal-kicking system rewards composure, skill, and wind-reading ability. Wet weather games are a scrap-fest, where every possession matters, and dry days encourage bold attacking footy. Every match is a unique experience, shaped by realistic weather, AI tendencies, and momentum swings that capture the theatre of AFL like never before.

But the true addiction? That’s the all-new Pro Team mode.

AFL 26 introduces Pro Team, a groundbreaking new feature where players can build the ultimate squad of AFL legends, current superstars, and hidden gems. Whether you want to recreate the greatest team of all time or build a cult-following lineup of battlers and breakout stars, Pro Team lets you collect, trade, and dominate with your dream list. Earn coins through match wins, complete weekly objectives, unlock themed packs, and even discover rare moments cards capturing historic goals, marks, and finals performances.

With deep progression, cosmetic customisation, and high-stakes challenges, Pro Team is designed to keep footy tragics glued to their screens long after the siren. It’s a mode that rewards football IQ, squad building creativity, and that unshakable obsession with chasing the perfect list.

Footy lovers, this is not just another yearly update.
This is the evolution. The redemption. The resurrection. This is AFL 26.
Prepare for total footy immersion."

only reason i feel like it’s fake/chat gpt is because there’s no mention of career mode, feel like it would be their biggest selling point for the game
