I am enjoying it. There are many things to learn though. First and foremost, on both offense and defense even though you can add 4- 5 to the ruck most of the time I am only adding 1-3 , in order for this to work on offense, you have to initiate the pick n go by hitting the left analog left or right, or pass left or right so that the mechanism knows you are trying to get the ball out of the ruck, rucking on defense is timing based, join and quickly press steal if isolating the player, and if the offense is taking longer to release, and you see you may have an advantage in the ruck, pile on the players for a counter ruck. The rucks are feeling pretty good, just missing a few key elements. Offloads are good but, they should go to ground more when its very late in the tackle or go forward, particularly if its players with lower offloads skill.
The sidestep and scrums and mauls is what needs the most work. There is no need to sidestep when your fend or shoulder barge is a lot more effective.
Please fix the sidestep, this is a key element in Rugby, and it is terrible in this game. You have to anticipate way in advance, the animation should be quicker and more effective particularly with skilled backs.
Having said all this, I am finding myself looking for particular players for specific plays. It does seem like choosing the correct tactics on offense and defense , does help the given play.
Over all, enjoying the game more, but it feels like it has some key gameplay features missing.
Isolated jackle, better sidestep, fouls in the ruck, AI infringements in the scrums and mauls, make the scrums more rewarding when played well. Scrums can be a fun part of the game if done right.
