Rugby 25 Megathread

In my Romanian league, in very difficult conditions and with temporary exclusions activated, I was voluntarily offside 8 times and no yellow card! Can you give me yellow cards please! I love this game

Not even going to worry about today’s update, I know we are in for another disappointment.

Imagine paying full price ( Same as an AAA game) and being a Beta tester. And they are already moving to league 5

You’d be surprised what textures can cause overheating issues. The main culprits are usually foliage of some kind.

I’m not sure if there is an option to turn off grass. I don’t think there is.

I don’t get the overheating warning but I have noticed my PS5’s fan just start to whirr up a little. Like you I only notice this on Rugby 25. I can play the likes of AC Shadows, RDR2, and any other sports games and it’s as silent as anything.

I do assume you clean the dust out of your console from time to time? Including the cooling fan.

The more I play this game both online and offline the more I realise that almost nobody kicks when playing multiplayer. There’s almost no point to it. There are many occasions when there is no playmaker to kick with. When you can select one the clearances are hardly worthwhile. I really feel that despite whatever realism The developers are attempting with the distance of the kicks, that in a video game sense they aren’t going far enough to make it worthwhile.

Especially when you see what the opposition can do off a kick return, they will mow through your players with the fend and offload. So why kick?

In short Big Ant need to very quickly address kicking because right now it doesn’t feel like rugby union. It’s far more tempting to kick in rugby league games up to this point. I mean you have to at the end of a set. In this game you hand the ball to the opposition and give them an excellent chance at a try.

Everyone mentions Rugby 08, but from Rugby 06 on HB Studios had learned that kicking was too redundant in earlier games they had made so brought in Star players that could boot the ball about 60 metres and it was worth kicking with those players. Not to mention even the ordinary players could kick the ball a good 45 to 50 metres.

When is this lesson going to be learned by Big Ant? I’ve played a lot of multiplayer both online and off and the only kicking going on is kickoffs and goal kicking.

Just an idea I had today , could we have a button along with tackle button , for head to head contact and it can increase chance of an injury to other player

And it is an auto yellow card or red card?

Eg on Xbox one b button and maybe x and y at same time?

The big hit function from RLL is probably a better shout, more chance of spilling the ball, and dents their stamina, but if poorly timed then a risk of head contact.

Not sure a function specifically to try and headbut players is a good idea haha

The idea have been mentioned before :

  • One button for ā€œsureā€ tackle that never causes penalties but can let the attacker gain meters/ escape (when evasive stats)
  • One button for ā€œstrongā€ tackle that can cause penalties/ yellow cards but stops the attacker/ make the ball fall.

With this feature : more penalties/ turnovers, a real sense of risk/reward, dedicated animations for each type of tackle and a real importance for the ā€œdisciplineā€ stat.

Not sure I am a fan of this new try scoring animation

Although if I just imagine him yelling ā€œYEET!ā€ as he does it, is sort of amusing

Just for info it happens on every single try (Other than tackled over the line animations). It also carried over to the try scoring celebration cinematic before this replay  Reiko was holding his hands in that same position but without a ball while celebrating, Ardie did not but a later try scorer also was stuck in that pose..

Ok just one more because this is the best one

Not sure if anyone else has experienced this but when I make a kit for a custom team and going through the shorts options starting at 1 and going back, it skips all the way to 36 i think. Not huge problem but just thought I’d see if anyone else had this problem.

Usually around 14:00 uk time.

It’s out on steam, has been since 9.30ish

A new update of #Rugby25 is now available on PC, Xbox and PlayStation:

• Balanced Evasion Effectiveness
• Corrected Defensive Try Area Kicks
• Improved Play Now Settings
• Improved Stability

This is what I was hoping for will get chance to test out later on

It doesn’t say for the AI but I’m guessing it means for AI

I understand for Fends.
But regarding Sidesteps, I didn’t have that much when playing if I’m not mistaken, can’t wait to give it a try.

Is it only me or does it look like the ball is going in he floor ???

3 things which I would not consider a priority, especially considering we did not receive a gamplay patch last thursday.

Online play, as mentioned recently above, has no kicking because defending does not work properly, therefore people dont feel the need to kick. This is mimicked by the AI, they fend and fend until they make a break. I wish they had some feeling for momentum and kicked, because I always kick in online play (undefeated) and single player but just feels like I am giving myself an extra challenge, the game does not encourage it.

Another point on stamina, I thought while playing single player last night, I think there is an argument that after 9/10 phases your players stamina should be depleted and errors just increase exponetionally such as knock ons to encourage kicking, like you know, real life rugby.

On the update, I guess offsides will still not work.
