I’d love to see videos of the game you’re playing. You seem to be having totally different experiences than the majority of other players.
Totally different experience? have you checked my posts, I think most agree, with the main points. Do, I play the game more simulation than most, most likely, from what I have seen with videos of other forum members that have youtube channels. But to each there own, if you like to play the game more arcade style, good for you that is fun as well, if you like to play more simulation style, then good for you as well. Most YouTube videos I have seen, 90% of the time the user is throwing the ball out wide and playing more of a hot passing rugby. I probably do a good 50/50 mix of smashing down the middle as I do passing out wide. And depending on what I do, I will try to use the different forward formations. Whether or not this is a placebo effect, I can’t say 100% but the different forward formations do seem to help in different ruck situations, also aggressive defense also seems to get your players into the ruck quicker, helping with ruck turn overs, but it leaves your back line more vulnerable. Again, Big Ant can chime in and correct me if I am wrong. But what would be the point of adding these different forward formations and tactics if they make no difference? Example: I was one of the members that pushed so much for the ability to add up to 5 in the ruck. Do you know how often I use this? About as often as they do in a real rugby game, it is rare but needs to be in the game. Most of the time on offense will use 1-3 in the ruck and defense will use only 1-2 in the ruck, but there is that correct moment when to rarely throw 4-5 into the ruck both on defense and offense. Many will slam 4-5 into the ruck every time on offense and defense, and again it is your choice to do this, but my point being is there are many different ways the game can be played and interpreted.
Post a screenshot of the final stats of any game you play against the AI since you play “simulation” and let’s compare that that to a real life game. I bet your tackles missed will be nowhere near the amount in an any real world example.
Here’s the final for the Super Rugby. Looking forward to your example where you manage to have less than 20 missed tackles for both teams.
Have nothing to prove to you brother! As I said, to each there own, been playing rugby and rugby video games probably longer than you have been alive. This is my experience. You have your opinion I have mine. I have been highly critical of the game in the past, but I do see them making strides in the right direction, I respect that they did listen to us when most of wante up to 5 in the ruck, I respect that they did improve the Arc on up and unders, I repsect that they did improve dummy passes, and ect ect, got to criticize but got to also acknowledge when they do make improvements. Do they have a way to go to make this a really good rugby game, yes, but is it possible? I believe I have seen enough improvements for them to continue to go in the correct direction.
Playing games longer than I have been alive proves nothing. Everyone has a phone and every phone has a camera. You talk about being happy with the balanced tackling yet you can’t prove you have better success than others, even though you talk on your high horse about playing simulation like.
Prove it with a screenshot, it’s not rocket science.
I used to always play this way as well but I’ve recently found that if you can land a Y tackle it actually has a high success rate of stopping your opponent braking the first tackle. It definitely is janky and doesn’t look great, especially if you miss but if you land it seems to be much more powerful in slowing down your opponent. I try to use it when I can run in a straight line at an opponent, if you run onto them diagonally you have no chance. It definitely needs work to make things look better and smoother.
Hell maybe it’s just in my head
Maybe @JNT_BA can clear it up?
Going to have to analyze exactly what I am doing, maybe it’s what Bear Gamer is doing. But I don’t feel like its a wild diving tackle, maybe the strafe (left shoulder and Y at the same time) will have to test, but it seems like the initial break tackle from the AI can be stopped somehow, I am not saying it is perfect and looks good but , been able to do, now , take in mind this on hard not hardest. So not sure if it makes a difference, but for sure as you mentioned a high, and low tackle would make more sense. I have been posting about high and low tackle and risk and rewards for both for a while now. The tackle that works feels like it’s a driving tackle or standing tackle.
As for Rugby Challenge 4, yes been going back and forth, but I can’t get past the 3 in the ruck max
And I don’t know if it’s because I played so much of RC , RC2, and RC3 and 4 that something about Rugby 25 intrigues me.
I have express lots of concern why BA did not explain the mechanics of rucks, and scrums and mauls better, so we can test better. The conclusion I have come to is, they are still working out the system, so why take the time to explain a system that may change considerably, for example the tackle, stand, and jackle was in the game initially (although 1% effectiveness) I think I managed to do it twice in like 50 games, it was even in the tutorials (now it does not work in game or the tutorials , Y seems to do nothing in the rucks ( for now at least). But I think they will fix this.
“As an add on purchase”…crazy mindset
Yeah would think as far as the anthems and haka and others would be in the game. Pretty sure rugby challenge 4 had them and it was made around 6 years ago I think.
I already feel like I’ve been ripped off with the purchase of this game without adding any “add-on” features ![]()
I am starting to see some good things in the game and I’m hoping by the time Rugby 27 is released we should have a decent game!
When is the the next update ?
2 weeks on Friday i believe
I have a funny feeling that basic things like national anthems, the pacific islanders pre-match rituals and even the world cup will only be a “new” feature in the next installment of this game
Might be one of those things where camera choice impacts success rate. As someone who plays side camera, the Y tackle is almost always a fail. But as you mentioned it works when running a straight line at the opponent, that might be the reason, because judging a straight line is much harder on side camera than end on. Might test Y on end on to see if it feels better.
On side camera Y basically only has to animations, slip off the hip, or grab the ball carriers shoulders and fall off, and is only really useful to slow the player down so a 2nd player can make a 2nd tackle, as for some reason the AI lose the ability to side step if they already get hit with the Y tackle.
I also really miss the tap tackle that used to be in EA using the Y button, i always thought it was really good and AI were very good at it. But havnt seen it in a very long time
I embody being one of the crazy people, thats why I have MaD in my name ![]()
Its actually wild how much the camera does change the flow of the game so much, I also have no idea how that happens. I just played a rematch of the lions vs western force that i put out a video on. but did it from end on camera, and used the Y tackle. and at the end of the game had a total of 11 missed tackles. Compared to side camera where its easy to average 40-50 in a game. You do have to hit the players front on with Y, but specifically holding the Y button down rather than a tap, also seems to reduce not only the ability to break the tackle, but also how often the AI offloads. Side camera in the same match up feels like youre playing a game of 7s where the ball doesnt stop moving. End on is a casual experience of phases made up of 1 off runners and you dragging them to the ground.
Why is the game so different? Who knows. ![]()
Yeah Y tackle on end camera cuts done the missed tackles by a lot, but the proportion is still massive 18/43 tackles missed is still too much. And about 8 of those were Ardie Savea on a single carry where for some reason the Y button stopped being effective and my whole team just bounced off him 1 at a time for their only try ![]()
Ive also noticed holding Y, sometimes they get bumped off but then make a 2nd successful tackle. And when that happens it counts as both a missed tackle and a successful tackle. So stats a little weird. But effectiveness in a game, end on camera and holding Y is superior for me. But looks very weird in the animations.
Side camera Y button still get well over 40-50+ missed tackles using Y.
Also no idea what constitutes “handling errors”, not a single knock on and I threw 4 bullet passes to touch and in my own dead ball area, but apprently they had 7:1 ratio worse compared to me.
I always hold down the Y button rather than tap as it often results in the secondary tackle as you mention.
Hey just one question probably a stupid one are getting an update tomorrow or has every 3 weeks started thanks
Crazy people… Present!
I won’t tell you what I think about people using end-on camera… ![]()
Hi Team,
I wanted to ask is there a hidden invisible “Momentum” bar in the game during matches currently ?
Playing on PS5 Hardest Difficulty.
I find that once I score a try it gets easier to score against the Ai again. But now it seems it gets too much momentum and too easy. Ai defence gets more slack and then I can pile on 2-3 Trys. Ai might score again and then their defence improves again but to me they get less momentum.
Is it possible to have this invisible momentum bar displayed on the screen when playing matches and can it have sliders to adjust or disable a momentum bar if a user chooses this option.
Also “Training” in Coach Career mode. I stopped doing training because although I feel it improved my players it’s making them too good with skills, for example “Speed”. It’s making the coach career too easy even playing on Hardest Difficulty.
Also I get the impression the Ai “does not improve its own players” in a season with training in career mode ? This is why I will no longer use training for my club. Is the Ai coded to train its own players ?
I got to the Super rugby final with one winger who I have lots of speed and agility training to and he scored 5 Trys in that grand final. But the Ai seemed to not have players like this who could play so well. This was Western Force playing against Chiefs “Ai”
Won the final 54-28. To me an unrealistic grand final experience in terms of a challenge. The training of my players I would say was a major factor for the win but lopsided score as the Chiefs didn’t train or improve their own players.
Anyway thanks for considering my feedback and all your hard work continually improving this game.
