Rugby 25 Megathread

Ok. Good to know I am not the only person with this problem. I have made the developers aware already and they are working on it. I Just not sure if it affects all PS5 users but thanks for confirming. I guess not everyone has tried to play with the Wallaroos yet. Did you have any custom players in your Wallaroos prior to this bug happening ? I had a theory this was maybe the cause ?

To add to this, when did you last watch a game of rugby where

-there were no jackal attempts
-no ruck penalties, hands on the floor, side entry, player going off feet, neck roll.

  • no strike moves by attacking team
  • no attacking shape of any description
  • no phases where attacking players help drive the ball carrier forward in contact to make yards

This game is so lacking in gameplay mechanics its embarrassing

Exactly, all this stuff had the just wait and see excuse to fall back on in development and Early Access periods. At that time it was still potential.

Full release is really when the game had to take shape and make major leaps to being completed. Potential had to start turning into results. It has never been anything more than potential. The game was fun at times when there was hope it would be pulled together. I picked 6 to 9 months after release to be good. But I expected to see much more progress than this

But this long on … the game is still in an EA state and simply being ā€œthe best it has beenā€ doesn’t mean anything. The best it has been is still the worst rugby game ever released lol. Quand mega succulent game fixing patch?

I mean the game looks great, there are some really great small points done really well. But just way too much bugged, broken and completely missing to even be considered the most complete rugby game of all time. That just sounds like straight up false advertising to me.

Trouble is with the AI first fend off if we revert to them not breaking through the defence then you end up with 7-0 or low scoring games, at least with the gameplay as it is you get exciting Matches imo,

Also the last game I played on hardest against AI I still won 5 tries to nothing tier 1 v tier 1. They still can’t score, it is easy to cover every run with a second defender.

There is no intelligence in the AI, just the artificial bit lol.

Just played two online games, it seems that the ā€œimpossible to tackleā€ bug is back

I got a screenshot of the new Pro Teams mode heading to R25.

And in the second shot was the communication in the usual detailed format, got a screenshot of that too.

You saw it here first.

I’ve noticed they have advertised their upcoming rugby league game at Wembley recently.

I can’t remember them doing this with Rugby 25. Did they not believe in the game at all from the very beginning?

I have read fantastic ideas on how to improve the game in this forum, but have seen so very few made…I think sometimes it is harder to know WHAT you want to do rather than HOW to do it. We have given the what clearly, the how must be rocket science.
We have not just been complaining here, but have been giving constructive feedback on so many areas of the game.

It is about time we are listened to. If they were to release a pro team mode I can’t imagine who would play being the game in this state.

Please guys make this game worth playing, it is in your own interest.

Just saw this on BA’s website career center

Gripsocks can go in the bin. When photogrammetry of players drinking beers and eating pizzas in the lockroom after winning games ? Motion capture can be made directly from BA’s office on Fridays

PS: @JNT_BA , should I share this job offer to Shep ?

C’mon Big Ant guys !

I think at this point, you have to understand that what make people upset here is not the game’s state itself, but the lack of transparency we have on it from the very beginning, with no video and no screenshot in month before the presumed release in 2023 and the ā€œphotogrammetryā€ 's smokescreen deployed to avoid the fact that there was a huge lack in the gameplay’s aspect. It continues all along with the fact that you, studio, pretend to listen the community despite the thousand of messages that suggest and even precisely describe main features nobody never see (set plays, mauls, scrums and lineouts mechanics …)

Is it now that hard to communicate on your projects with the game and your difficulties to achieve them? I truely believe that you all were best intended to succeed and that you work, yesterdays and nowadays, hard for it. Be assured that we all want you to finish the best rugby union videogame in the history. Really.

As this is said, i can understand you’re under pressure and you are also upset with the cristicism of most of us, but the only way to restore confidence and a peacefull dialogue is to be clear and realistic on what you want and can do or not in the future. The game is out, it’s already a commercial disaster. You have nothing to risk, except a good late surprise.

Spot on. In reference to your last paragraph, I think the game is now at the stage it ought to have been when it was released in February. It’s taken four months and multiple patches to get to a stage where I can play a few games and not want to switch off in frustration. But that really isn’t enough for a full-priced release from a company with a track record of producing decent sports sims.

Played my first match for about a month. 10 mins half, on medium setting. I won 12-7. Possibly best match I’ve had for a while

BUT

The offensive alignment and running angles of the players is stopping this game becoming good or great. The players are bunching up behind the ruck like it’s school rugby, there’s no pod systems or even everyone spread out in a line. And then when they catch it, they run at the ā€˜wrong’ angle (hard for me to describe). Sadly isn’t good enough to be rugby union

Also, I’d love it if the computer could highlight better which opposition player has the ball, it’s a simple thing that would add quite a lot

Can we get a roadmap or backlog of what bugs/improvements are being looked at, similar to what EA are doing for F1 25? Be good to know what we can expect in the short to long term with improvements

When will we be able to switch the Competition Logos of the career by our custom logos ? I have a bunch which are waiting to be added… :winking_face_with_tongue:

We again have the glitch where every time a player is tackled over the try line, the ball is adjudged to be held-up. Can we get the animation back where a try is scored 66% of the time? Also, the players cannot dive/slide for a try anymore from 5 meters out, but you nerfed it too much now. They should still be able to score a try 3 meters out and not wait to cross the try line first before scoring. When they dive, they should be able to start the dive so that their landing is on or just over the try line, so please buff that again.

Then, for custom competition, besides all the things we have already asked for, please do the following as a matter of urgency:

  1. Give us the option to name the custom competition

  2. Allow us to either set the calendar, with days and times, OR allow us to select the match time under match settings, so every match isn’t played at 1pm.

  3. Allow us to change the crowd size under match settings, as various matches and stadiums would have different crowd sizes. Being a graphics setting, as it currently is, means you have to exit competition mode, change the crowd size, and go back in before every match. Really bad

  4. When a player gets an injury, make him ineligible for selection in the next game, whilst he recovers from his injury, for a realistic amount of time. For example, a broken arm would keep him out for at least 6 weeks, whereas a torn ligament might be less. Either automatically replace him with the next best player in his position, or prompt the user to change the team sheets ahead of the match (whether the team is AI or user controlled). The latter seems a better option for me.

Finally, look into some of the refereeing actions. Often the referee would call ā€œoffsideā€ or ā€œknock-onā€ and not give advantage or blow the whistle. Other times, there would be a clear knock-on and the referee would not even call it. Other times he would make the call AND blow the whistle, but the play simply continues.

Yet another game played (AI v AI), whereby blatant penalties were ignored and the game just played on as though nothing happened.

I counted about 3 knock ons, a couple of forward passes, and all these were just ignored by the gameplay and the match just carried on as though nothing happened.

I must admit I am getting very disheartened with all this. Ok so a few folk at BA are badly. But surely they are not that poorly they can’t quickly post a comment to acknowledge all our feedback.

I dont know about other forums but here it does seem like our comments are falling on deaf ears.

I’ve just watched @MaD_Dragon_Rugby video from earlier. If just those 5 bits of gameplay were implemented into the game it would make it a far better game :100: %.

I only hope some of the devs watched his video, Oh nearly forgot, again another game where at the end of each half depending on the situation the teams don’t seem to want to get the ball into touch. This is making the games drag on well past the 40 and/or 80 minute mark.

I do so hope this game turns out to be a No Man’s Sky or Cyberpunk 2077. Hope fully from the depths of despair the game rises to become really good. Come on BA you can do it. You have before.

No custom players, I think it was the case with the default starting 15 and an edited lineup.

Yes, because like any normal person does when they believe something, I said that because I believed it would happen. They have a pretty good track record imo. Seemed logical to assume.

But … Shock horror, no one guesses everything in life right and sometimes we are wrong  I am fine with being wrong about a video game lol.

2035 might be a bit optimistic  but if we have a decent game by then, I’ll take that online match :+1:t2:

Or if this one turns it around someday and is playable I’ll give you a game.

I’ll even give you a three try handicap, I’ve seen you play in one of your videos
