Yes something like that, but it seems there is more to it. It seems the rucking meter does play a part on when to try the pushover. But it seems there are variations, sometimes you can get a passive looking turnover with just adding 2-3 players if the timing is correct. Although it has worked both ways tapping steal/jackal and holding jackal/steal although it feels like later in the ruck if your rucking meter is considerably dominate, you can do a counter ruck pushover, if they delay getting the ball out, (I have achieved this by holding the steal while adding players to the ruck). There are variations at the ruck and they are getting better and better (I have said it before) If they can sort out the tackle/stand/jakal on the isolated player, with the tackler being able to steal the ball or force the offense to hold for a penalty, and include hands in ther ruck (risk vs reward) this can be the best rucking system to date, if they can add those things and the rare comming from the side, maybe by over committing to many to quick the ruck (again risk vs reward) risk(comming in from the side) reward (counter ruck pushover). I still think if they can sperate the steal/jackle from the counter ruck by making the tap x for the steal hold x for counter ruck, it would be a great addition, choices at the ruck is what makes rucks fun. Sometimes it feels like it does play that way. But since the exact system has not been explained to us, we canât know for sure.
In any case the rucks are good (especially) now thar people are realizing they dont have to throw 4-5 players in to the ruck every time, it actually works against you, if you try to work the rucks like real rugby it plays out fairly good, it just has a few missing pieces for it to be one of the best if not the best rucking systems yet. More POD control settings , will be a nice addition as well. But it does feel like I have better support out wide when selecting going out wide formation, more chance of maintaining possession out wide if I chose the wide formation, the forwards seem to engage faster in the rucking helping to keep possession. And vice a versa, if I want to drive down the middle the other settings are better then wide formation. Makeing these changes on the fly make for great ruck strategy and fun.
I really wanted to get it out last night. But some last minute things popped up with console testing. Which was actually kind of fortunate as when I was leaving one of my programmers found something interesting in code to do with passing that may have been causing issues with failed passing. So my target is early next week once the console issue is sorted.
Still some major problems with Play Now matches on PS5.
Momemtum Bug too strong. I was able to smash Japan 75-0 on Hardest difficulty. 15 min halves. 82 , 78 overall team ratings. I did create new additional Japanese players to add to the official Japan team in line with todayâs game.
No Cards issued for High tackles. Ticket #39281
Ai in Japan stadium not kicking out of their 22. Might be a stadium coding issue. I made sure the Japan Flyhalfs and Scrumhalfâs had decent ratings for kicking and other skills.
Play now on PS5 seems to be the worst for the strong momentum bug going to the user once a Try is scored.
Hi Big Ant, I wanted to congratulate you on the improvements made to the games, but I also wanted to ask you when the AI ââwill become more efficient, because as things stand, winning a match is for me (and probably other players) much too simple.
Please just fix AI. Cannot enjoy the game without decent AI. AI completely unable to score. Getting 3-0 games on 20min halves. Snooze fest. Want to see great moves, runs, kicks etc from AI. When big AI overhaul?
You can fix everything else, but if AI sucks, game still sucks. AI used to be decent and had a lot of fun, but not for many months.
Related to this is the Held Up call when it was clearly a try. They already struggle to score and when they do, its Held Up.
I dont care about anything else right now, than a major AI overhaul.
I did say decent. From an AI vs AI point of view. Never said good or realistic, as it has never been. Single biggest improvement needed right now to get the game at least playable while they work on the other stuff. Until AI is improved, I dont care for the game
Iâm sure its alot more complicated than i have suggested (as i know nothing about coding) but they did admit that they had a rugby league expert developing plays for this game. That explains alot to me.
To me, the game should emphasise playing for territory. Although the AI does kick sometimes, it is mainly to get out of their 22. If the AI was simply programmed to kick for territory and for space, often then imo it would make an immediate difference. For example the AI makes a line break at the half way line. 100% of the time they either take contact, or take contact and pass. If they decided to simply boot the ball into space and create a foot race to the try line you are immediately forced to scramble back. They should also pin you back in your own half with âkick tennisâ every so often, exactly like real teams do, to try and force a dropped ball. The AI have also completely stopped going for 50-22s as well. When they are in your 22 then they can use more up and unders and grubbers.
I have been saying this for ages, so i really donât know why its not been implemented. The game has so much promise, but the AI is simply no challenge on the hardest level.
Certainly wasnât fun playing Japan on Hardest Difficulty and beating them 75-0 with Australia in 15 min halves.
