Rugby 25 Megathread

Correct, that is what they need to work back into the game, the original tackle/stand/jackal when the offense is isolated. Occasionally, you can pull of a 1 player steal/jackal, the problem is it looks more like a counter ruck animation, so the action is there but the animation doesn’t match, I have mentioned this in previous post, the AI is able to just steal and jackal and the animation does look good, weird, on occasion you do get a jackal, but the animation just switches to possession, so you jackal/steal and then you bind more players, it like a passive steal. They need to fix the animation to match the intended move, but at least the ruck plays out that you get possession, it’s just the animation doesn’t always match up to the entended action, the end result is the same though, which is possession. They said they are still working on the system, and I believe once they get all the animations sorted and add in proper rucking infringements, it can be a very good system. I just think other areas of the game need more fixing, like sidesteps(one of the worst in rugby gaming history) and lack of set plays. Other then that game does have some fun rugby play, I see myself purposely trying to get the ball to certain players depending on what I am trying to achieve. On rucks it seems to help when you can switch quickly to the closest rucking player when going for the steal. This seems to help the counter rucks in particular.

We are approaching 2 years since early access release, and the absolute fundamentals of rugby union are missing. That ship has sailed.

Hi - do we have an anticipated release for the next update @JNT_BA ?

Appreciate we need to get everyone back from the holidays. Will we see one before the end of Jan?

Not sure how anyone would try and say the ruck system is good when no one seems to know what you need to do with any clarity. Now rucks are my area of expertise specifically, I have spent my entire life in a ruck … I even hold my birthday parties in a ruck, I shower in a ruck … and I can assure you … they are not like they are in this game.

The rucks are easy to do with just 3 man, 5 men makes zero difference to be honest. The outcomes are largely random and although you can look at any ruck and try and normalise it and explain it away saying that it could happen in a game … it is not the point. In a video game players not only want rucks to behave authentically but they want to:

1: Know what inputs and timings are expected at a ruck

2: Clearly see what the consequences of their inputs and timing are during the ruck

3: Have a clear indication as to what the outcome of a ruck is

And I do not just mean placing giant flashing icons and bars everywhere necessarily, it could be reflected with clear animations but either way, players want to understand what is happening better. From my experience this game does not tick any of those boxes correctly in its current form. Rucks are the most consistent thing in rugby, if there was some clarity around this area players may feel they have better control of the game outcome than they do at present.

Have you played the rugby 20 or rugby 22 they have a nice rucking system that actually makes sense

Two things I want to see

1.Pods that actually work - Yes the attacking shape is good, but when I give the ball to a forward with two or more forwards behind him, they don’t follow him and support him in the rucks like in rugby 22. I know u guys can fix this.

2.The rucking system - Rugby Challenge 3 is the one rugby game that has the best rucking system, u can steal the ball before the cleaners arrive, not the rucking system were one guy just comes and steal the ball whilst pushing over 6 guys with no effort.

Its all I’m asking, and many ppl ask this

Can I get a confirmation from the group or is it just me, but the AI teams on Hardest seem to break 9/10 first time tackles against my players and even worse, when they are attacking in the 5 mtrs to the Try line, the fear I have is no matter my FB on 99 for tackling, the AI always breaks that tackle I literally have to control or move another player in as a back up tackler because the AI always breaks the tackle which is frustrating. Is there any way to stop this from happening? It’s so unrealistic when an AI breaks my D Line, and I have my FB come across to tackle, the AI 9/10 times will either break the tackle or almost always side steps my player. Can this please be removed or allow first time tackle made based on the percentage success of the players I am controlling. It seems I can never tackle an AI because it takes more than 2 to bring down he AI who seems to always side step or break all my first up tackles.

Hi @JNT_BA can i ask really quick are we expecting a update soon cause league got one Wednesday or is it because of different teams thanks

Hi @JNT_BA ! I think i have an ideea about AI breaking first tackle and user not being able to perform combo escape moves!

Introduction of 4 tackling styles:

  • ankle tackle (animation is in the game) → should stop all the escape moves except “goose step” ,with the sacrifice of loosing 1-2m in contact

-around the waist tackle ( animation is in the game) ->very effective versus sidesteps ,50/50 or stats based against fends and low succes rate versus bumps

-around the chest tackle (animation is in the game)-> very effective against fends, should give away a penalty for high tackle if used against bumps ( in case of bump ,attacker is lowering his position so defender doesnt get the time to readjust, resulting a head contact) and not so efficient against side-steps

-big hit tackle (animation in the other rugby game)- should stop all the escape moves with a risk of giving away penalty (high tackle ,shoulder charge ) or getting a player injured (specially when forward vs back) if not timed correctly!

Let me know your toughts about this guys, personally i think is the shortest way to get a close to reality risk/reward combat !

Never had the chance to play RLL3 but ive heard a lot of people praising that game ! I do own RLL4 and RL26 and both have better combat systems than Rugby25 (in my opinion) ! Being an union based guy ,im not 100% sure but from outside looks like, except “shoulder charge” wich is not allowed in union, tackling is the same for both codes !

@JNT_BA can we pleasw get a timelime for the new patch???

I would like to think that even "controled movement " from their other league releases will be a perfect fit for Rugby25 but i dont know how long and how hard it will be for jnt&co to introduce that mechanic in !
