Rugby 25 Megathread

Or you could also let us edit the ratings? Or put in a kicking slider?

Most of the things being worked on are team rosters, ratings, . How much time is that taking the team? If given the tools to do that ourselves, the team can be working on rucks, mauls, scrums, animations, art, coding. Etc. Developer things.

In Madden if I want the kicker to punt farther I can edit his rating or turn up the slider.

Air tackle should be able to happen if I miss time the jump going in to early for the jump or to late should give me the risk of causing taking the player out of the air.

same with lineouts if I press jump to late for line out it should give the risk of me jumping across or pulling on player

Im not saying you shouldn’t. I agree it should be a thing. But they cant happen. So it’s not rules arent followed it’s those things dont exist.

Every online game crashes, constant missed tackles and input delay on low ping. Can we get some focus to online, include all stadiums and give us some competitions like weekly leagues etc since we don’t have a big player base. Also, the worst bit of single player is how the AI play, good rugby teams squeeze you through prsssure - kicking, turnovers etc not breaking every first tackle. On the positives, menus and games do seem to look better.

But then it’s where the question should be internal is are the engine we using the right engine to use to make a good/great rugby game. Because it really baffles me how a game that is 20 years old has more rules in and unfortunately plays better than a game that came out a year ago.

At the end of the day we as passionate rugby fans and people that play club rugby just want to have a rugby that is actually really good as it feels unfortunately it’s going backwards. I still play the older rugby games and still have so much fun with it.

you guys have this opportunity where you can make a rugby game don’t take it the wrong way but make a great rugby game or just be straight and be maybe this is not for us and and another developer take over when all the licensing expires as it seems that is what’s important these days to make rugby game where I will rather play really good rugby game with no licensing then playing one with it all and gameplay is boring

Can’t disagree with any of that. You’re welcome to that opinion.

The complaints about certain rules being missing: I get it, but would many actually make the gaming experience better? Cricket 26 is missing hit wicket, as an example, but that wouldn’t make the gaming experience much better.

I’d like to see holding on in there as a rule, as I think it would force you to think about trying to stop jackals and moving the ball quickly.

More interesting, to me at least, would be a greater variety in styles of play, as well as it being less reliant on breaking tackles to make yards.

Not sure if it’s possible but the way there seems to be lots of last ditch tackles to stop teams scoring feels quite fake: a team makes a breakaway and can easily score, yet your defender magnetically stops them on the 5m line

Yeah, holding on/holding down can be added. Pretty easily, actually. Getting it right is a little harder.

What about the Jackling/Stealing option. Can that also be added. Or tweaked to work. There are still so many times where you should be able to steal/jackal a ball when no other opposition has joined the ruck. But at the moment you just can’t.

Yeah that’s part of the ruck reworks. It’s also one of the things that breaks. Rucks are… so bogged down in all these timing measures it kinda breaks everything when we make a change basically. I asked for the players to not jump out so quickly from the formation by like .5 seconds so it looks a little less jank. It broke everything for about 10-15 seconds after that.

Then another thing which can bring huge improvements to gameplay is STRATEGIC LINES. I know I have been yapping about choosing support lines, but maybe I should refer to it as strategic lines. When making a selection your team will run those lines for the next attacking phase. (Like set plays, but you still have to be in control of when or if to make a pass.)

  • Decoy runner
  • Loop Line
  • Switch runner (Scissors)
  • Arcing Line

This should bring in the variety that we are looking for in gameplay as well.

The patch was well received by me today thanks @JNT_BA

I dont know if it was a glitch, but in one of my games, a player came out very dirty down the tunnel, perhaps the warm up was brutal.

I agree with the running lines, similar to what the RLL games do. Add some pod play as well, with pull options to a play maker behind and I think that will give the gameplay some life

@JNT_BA why don’t u answer me and @Tigersmad83 question about English premiership teams kits? Ross was in england late last year then went to France for what?

Not funny mate just want answers. Whats the point in playing game if kits are nearly 2 years out of date.

Youre spot on.

Of all the glaring issues with the game outdated prem kits should absolutely be the priority

Finally, someone is brave enough to say what we are all thinking. Give this man a salary.

2 basic rules that never worked since day 1:

-offside after kick
-offside at the maul

"The most common penalties in rugby union stem from infractions at the breakdown and set pieces, specifically not releasing the ball, collapsing scrums, offside, and high tackles. These penalties, often arising from technical errors or playing on the edge, frequently occur when players fail to roll away, enter rucks from the side, or struggle with scrum stability. "

What’s the patch schedule from here on out? Every Tuesday and Thursday? Every 3 weeks Wednesday?

          Hi, @JNT_BA!

Here are some basic stats over attack/defence ,from a random game that i would like to share with you:

I think it will be amazing, regarding gameplay, for AI and User,if you guys could code the game ,at a scale,to reflect that (different defensive style wich are coming out of variaty of defence positioning or type of tackle performed, same for attack ,plus 3 types of rucks ,fast, normal and slow and the kick/pass ratio from AI)

This are part of tactics/strategies and from here you can tweak teams to have different gameplans !

Personally ,i am so excited that i can play in a custom stadium with custom teams/kits and so many license but is a shame that i cant set my (AI also) formation wide/normal/close ,deep/normal/flat and at least some set-plays like RL26!

                                     Regards!
