@JNT_BA seems when I create custom online matches, or try to. The game crashes. Could this be looked at?

New kits o no ? Because the Top 14 and the pro D2 i not a new for the season 2025-2026

After playing the update for a while, here are my thoughts.

I love the new kicking. It took me a while to dile it in to where I would like it, but once getting that sweet spot it changes that aspect completely. We’ll done on this, it makes it so much more exciting (Except for my prop kicking as far as my fly half) but those are thing I can overlook

Well its almost the end of season, may as well wait until next seasons kits or wait if there is going to be a r27

Having said that. There are mayor reasons I wont be playing this game until some further updates. And I know some things have been mentioned but these are still my thoughts.

Rucks: Oh my word. The rucks in this game absolutely suck. I could not go more than 3 phases without someone stealing the ball, my team weirdly pushing them over or getting penalized for something im doing (idk what)

Ai Desicion making: I have played probably 5 games. And in those games I have spent probably 20 in game min a game defending in their 22. No box kick. No clearing. Just running into my players and throwing horrible passes. This really destroys the realism and takes you completely out of the game.

Attacking: Man wish this game had the attacking of Rugby Challenge 4 (it wasn’t perfect). But each game nobody runs onto the ball, no one runs for space or gaps. Most of the time my players get the ball standing still, from rucks and open play. No depth or width. Most of the time my players almost turn around to pass after a line break, like where is the support lines? Dynamic runs? It feels like grade school touch rugby

Steps: I cannot step anyone to save my life. Stepping is such a big and exciting part of rugby and I literally can’t do it (I have tried everything) only sometimes it works do dummy. But you literally can’t step the last defender and score. This sucks. Bumb offs work well but also only with Forwards. So unrealistic as I promise Bundi Akhi runs over more people than Pollock does. But not on this game

I think stepping should just be more simple. Flick right stick left to step left right to step right. At the moment stepping hqs no purpose. Would be nice if dummies work agaist AI as well. It works well online but not agaist AI

My thoughts on the update, its good. I like the new ruck system better, but there is a glitch where if you don’t put any players in the ruck then the AI will always pick and go through the ruck with a weird animation.

With the sliders, I think explaining how much each value actually effects the factor it’s for would be nice. For example, when you’re moving the high tackle slider up, it should say few, standard, many as you’re moving it. Cause right now with the decimals it’s not clear. I moved the high tackle slider to the middle for the AI and they were committing high tackles every 3 tackles. But, as we go on people will find the best sliders and that wiall fix many things people talk about, so we’ll done team!

Hi guys. Sliders update is very good but I’ll need time to adjust It perfectly. Kicking for exemple is very hard to tune.

Rucks are better but I still think half the turnovers should be penalised for not released ball. And high tackles always result in a yellow card cutscene.

I really like the update as well ! But they should address quickly the fact that the AI won’t box kick anymore in their 22 and you can play for 10 minutes while they try to beat the defender by carrying the ball. Sometimes they’ll try to pass the ball to a back who’ll kick but that’s a very broken phase at the moment.

Not true, I had a match where the AI had like 6 high tackles and not a single one was a yellow. And I had Sin Bins on.

I think they mean when u get a red card, the ref shows the yellow first and then the red. If u dont get cards turn high tackles near to max on sliders. I had 2 reds and 1 yellow in one game ealrier

Question to anyone using custom sliders. When you adjust the slider how much does the value change up or down when you adjust it. I’m trying to find the right balance for general player kicking. I only moved it from the default 1.500 to 1.515 and now my player can kick it 200m like there’s no weight to the ball

Edit: The values for default hard are definitely wrong. Dropped them down to 1.250 and it’s giving a much better result

This is a good example of some of the confusion I had first tinkering with the sliders. For a starting point, I was changing sliders on Hard difficulty.

One of the things I found last night is that some of the individual sliders in the Custom Difficulties menu appear to be set at a different level to what you would encounter playing the basic difficulty level (Hard in my case).

For example High Tackles. When I first went into the Custom Difficulties menu, it was one of the things that I made a slight adjustment up to and then went into the game to test.

I had 3 red cards within 15mins of clock time. So I exited the game and turned it down and back into the game. Yet again it was still just about as bad. So exited again. Decided to click TRIANGLE to revert it to default. Then I tried again. STILL had a red card from my kicker within 20mins, but overall an improvement. So back to the menu and I decided to use the L2 Button (L2 & R2 make incremental adjustments in units that make a small but noticeable difference). Using this method I went down TWO of the L2 adjustments from default and I ended up with a more or less normal situation in-game. I had one card in the next game and that was from the opposition. So then I followed the same path with the AI HIGH TACKLE Frequency and fixed that.

This appears to show that some DEFAULT levels within the Custom Difficulty menu are outside normal game-play defaults compared to what we might expect.

The same is true of GENERAL KICKING. The default 1.500 factor is ALREADY too high. It shouldn’t be the default.The default is somewhere around 1.000 when compared to kicking distances I used to know. So I have tuned mine to one R2 adjustment up from that 1.000 and the result is fantastic.

As you make adjustments to any particular slider, start with making sure you press TRIANGLE for DEFAULT and making adjustments from there. I suggest testing those adjustments and then if unsatisfactory, going back to the menu, and making L2 or R2 adjustments from there on a one or two step only basis before re-testing.

It seems a Fact that some of the default settings are incorrect within the Custom Difficulty menus, so it may take time to get the best possible settings.

I had an awesome Bledisloe Cup game before bed last night with some great tactical kicking from me at times (not so much from the AI, but I promise - THEY DID ACTUALLY kick it down field ONCE). The Australian AI team also played some amazing evasive rugby (that’s another thing you can tune, but still working on that) with sometimes 4 passes in a sequence without chucking back an inside ball !!! (Can’t believe that happened!!!)

I’m hoping to make some more adjustments today and hopefully provide some more info later.

These are just temporary adjustments for HARD, that you might like to try. PLEASE TRY THEM AS A WHOLE, not just a few of them as one thing can affect another.

Only adjust the following from default and check others are at correct default on HARD by pushing Triangle.

MAX PLACE KICK DISTANCE 1.200 (Down 2 L2 Presses from default)

MAX KICK-OFF DISTANCE 1.150 (Up 4 R2 Presses from default)

MAX GENERAL KICK DISTANCE 1.200 (Down 2 L2 Presses from default)

HIGH TACKLE FREQUENCY 0.650 (Down 3 L2 Presses from default)

SPRINT SPEED 0.910 (Up 2 R2 Presses from default)

COMPOSURE RECOVERY 1.748 (Up 2 R2 Presses from default)

RUCK BALL HOLD PENALTY AGGRESSION 0.710 (Down 1 Press from default)

Please test as a whole and see how it plays for you. More adjustments to make obviously as this is all new.

Just a follow up on the default custom settings. It sounds like the same issue with RL26 - the base custom settings do not equate to the default settings. So creating a new custom setting using the default Hard sliders settings, will not equate to you just playing a game using the normal Hard setting.

In RL26 there seems to be no difference in you choosing Rooke, Pro, Veteran etc.. as the base custom slider setting, I just start with the default pro and move the sliders / options up and down.

It does not matter if I start on Rookie or Legend, the result seems to be the same. Its the slider setting that make the difference, not the base setting.

Though at least for R25 it has been mentioned by BA that they set other options that are not available.

Thanks for the update notes @JNT_BA . It would be great to get some further detail on the rucks when you get the opportunity.

I’m enjoying these Custom Difficulty sliders and they do seem to provide quite significant differences to anything we’ve seen before, not just subtle changes.

It does seem that the default slider settings for specific difficulties don’t seem to mirror the normal game settings for the same difficulties, but I’ve managed to make alterations that reflect what I’m looking for in-game.

There are some issues that I have found post patch though and I’m wondering if others have had the same experience.

1 - There seems to be a large number of turnovers immediately after a turn-over has happened. Mostly from the AI.

2 - Turnovers do seem to be easier to perform for both teams in the start of a match (maybe first 20mins) than they are after that, sometimes it can be excessive early in the game.

3 - Many rucks seem to form when the AI is in possession where ZERO human players enter and it’s happened enough that I know I’ve tried to add players. These one-side only rucks happen quite a reasonable number of times.

4 - High Tackles have happened with my players on multiple occasions where they were NOT the player I had selected. It’s just happened with my own AI controlled players.

5 - High Tackles don’t seem to be generated by any kind of user error (spamming the tackle button, tackling too early or late or holding down the tackle button). The only factor I’ve seen down to user input seems to be sprinting in to the tackle and that’s fair enough.

6 - Injuries suddenly stopping open play running. Not sure why this is suddenly happening, but it has happened twice when I’ve been open after making a break.

7 - This one has been a problem almost forever. Whenever possession turns over suddenly (for example an intercept), if you have been about to perform a normal tackle or a dive tackle, then you can immediately kick the ball away. I play this game with about half a dozen other people and it has happened to us all. Any chance that kicking could be disabled for 1-2 seconds post possession change? Even 1 second would help.

8 - Crashes. The game is crashing significantly more than it was pre-patch. I understand that this patch is making the game perform in a vast array of different ways than it was. I hope our submitted reports via console etc are helping with this.

Thanks very much for this latest patch, really enjoying these options and it’s breathing new life into this game.

This is what I’ve been working on, the 4 main reports have been addressed on our end… there’s just some holdups on the actual patch we’ve been working all night and day to sort. It has turned out to be a massive thing, and it is still ongoing. Trying to get this out as soon as I can.

For those who may use German or Japanese as their language, I suggest tuning to another region if you can, as English and French do not have this issue. At least for the language issue.

Online will need an update to address that.

Hi JNTBA,

Getting multiple incidents of the game freezing on PS5 once I do a front row replacement of a prop or Hooker. This is due to previously having a Red Card issued to anyone in the front row early in the match and someone coming off the bench to play in front row in their place. For instance a prop red carded but then the replacement hooker comes on in his place so scrums can form. So when I decide to simply replace a prop with a bench prop or the replacement hooker the game freezes after you get out team management menu.
Will send through videos this weekend when I get time.
