Rugby 25 Megathread

Yes it’s not happening that much and not realistic. We occasionally see Props and Forwards sometimes kicking the ball. Hardly any Ai behaviour of the Flyhalf or Scrumhalf kicking the ball for clearance or territory as a defensive measure. I play on PS5.

@JNT_BA Please have a look at this. This for me has been the most frustrating aspect of the game: please try and improve this since i feel this has not been pmproved since day one:

As simple as possible - Player positioning, support running and ball catching animations

This is an example what happened in my game - i could clearly see there is an overlap i tried playing to the backline to pass to the winger. But there is many problems that cause a cluncky feel and the play feels unsatisfying.

  1. Backline and forwards are lined up too deep they should be where the crosses are marked.
  2. Most annoying thing of this game is when you pass to the first reciever they sprint onto the ball jump and catch the ball behind their back. This change the direction you want to run breaking your momentum.
  3. Then the second reciever just stand still while you run to catch the ball. This allows a deep gap between you and your support runner:

The blue circle is where the player should be- Then i don’t know why they do that but either they tie their shoe laces or they run to the opposite direction as you once you pass the ball then they catch the ball behind their backs

Please @JNT_BA fix this this will make the game much more fun. Everytime when passing from one player to another it feels so unrealistic and unsatisfying- the problem is jot with passing but with player positioning , support running, running lines ect

Also, many times I cannot pass to my 10 as he is too deep or in the wrong position (targeting pass). Most of my clearing kicks come from the fullback.

@JNT_BA can you maybe share with us how the planned tactics will work and it will include. For example will there be set plays or will it mostly allow us to change the width and depth of your defence and attacking lines. Any info on this will be greatly appreciated. Some sort of set play option for scrums will also greatly improve the game, as plays from scrums feel very generic and does not give you any variety in attacking options.

Are tactics coming soon? I must have missed that. It’d be great to also have a slider for AI tactics, ideally enabling us to encourage them to kick more often and more rationally.

Is it possible to have updated teams for the nations champ, ideally in the next week so we can acually use them.

Have to test some more, intial game with custom settings played fairly well, there seemed to be some tunning in the ruck to have more passive turnovers then push overs. The hands in the ruck still needs tunning, maybe the new sliders will help(have not tested fully yet) still being called for hands in the ruck when my defensive player is the first to arrive to the ruck. Seems to be improved but needs considerable more improvements, also still need a (Tackle , stand, and jackal) button a third option at the ruck, was intended to be in the game with Y on the xbox. This needs to make it in the game to complete a very good ruck system. This is crucial for rucks to feel authentic. And obviously Big Ant felt this way to because they intially tried to implement it. Back to testing sliders :slight_smile: And thank you Big Ant team for continuing to improve the game, been a long journey, but at least you are continuing to add improvements.:slight_smile:

@JNT_BA played a game last night. The stats in no way reflected my game. Some examples;

  • apparently, I had 6 handling errors - there were no scrums the entire game
  • 35 kicking metres - I played a kicking game and would have had a lot more - this is not the first time reported on
  • territory had me at 95% again not close but also - AI needs to be kicking way more

Stats are only good if they are accurate. Game last night was way off.

With sliders, it is playing a bit better but not enough to keep me going past one game unfortunately.

Also, for everyone playing - has the diving try been taken out? I hold or double tap and players only places the ball for a try. I cannot seem to dive anymore.

They changed the buttons for tries i while back. on xbox its A to place the ball and Y to dive

In one of @JNT_BA posts he mentioned that the Ruck system is the final mechanic addition. But that Quick tactics will be the next and final feature that they work on. Unless I misunderstood his message. But we tactic options are needed to enhance the gameplay, and even basic setplays will really add to the games playability. Attack is so one dimensional at the moment.

Cant believe it has been a year since @JNT_BA announced the future of Rugby 25. So tactics and some QOL items are still to be added. JNT any ETA when you want to get the Tactics implemented? As this is a very important aspect to make gameplay more enjoyable. I assume Pro Team will be moved over to Rugby 27 and not make it into Rugby 25 then?

Tactics

The current tactics options will be undergoing some updates to make these easier to change based on the plays in question. At the moment, you need multiple inputs to change how these are assigned. These will be changing to a much quicker system and one that you will be able to track on screen at any given time. With the update, it will also allow us to change these much faster or add additional formations you can play with the press of a button.

As we continue to work on this, we are constantly adding and revising more and more potential updates to how this will work to have a larger control over what your team is doing on the field.

While the AI will change around their play style based on a few decisions, the control has always been left in the players’ hands. An additional option to allow your team AI to make these changes will also be added for those who just want to play and not micro-manage.

Quality Of Life Changes

Then, some small things that are surprisingly are a large amount of work, but they help with the little details.

  • More referees - Not sure if this has been done, I actually see less at the moment.
  • Ad Board Updates for blank leagues - Although some stadiums have Ad Boards, I still dont think we are able to add these for Stadiums.
  • Team Updates - There has been some updates previously.
  • New Player/Team Art - Still so many missing players.
  • New Stadiums - Have we received more stadiums?
  • An Online Focused Update - I believe this has been implemented.

While these are not the only updates we are working on/have planned, these are the main focuses of direct updates. Other things like formations, pods, more reactive support runners and a number of other aspects will all be looked at while the individual teams work on their select areas.

I agree about the defensive tactics, they should just steal the League defensive tactics imo. Much simpler and intuitive.

My main concern is why did y’all abandon the quick gameplay and playstyle speed of rugby 22 and change to a stiff slow game. Rugby 22 had everything and IMO was the best modern rugby game yet, the only thing it lacked was licensing, the timing of animations, and customization. Other than that, I was hoping y’all could revisit this path with rugby 27

Rugby 22 wasn’t a big ant game :man_shrugging:, people were moaned about that game as well if people are going to moan they will moan regardless, i think rugby 25 has improved massively since release

I know, but I believe that Rugby 22 gameplay(with the glitches patch of course) with everything else of Rugby 25 would be such a good game

Would be nice as well if BA could speak to us at least once a week to let us know whats going on about the future of the game or about future titles. We’re currently left with a game that has completely outdated lineups club and country and just isnt fun to play rn. Im grateful for the past couple of updates but surely theres got to be uodated lineups and kits soon or an announcement of a new title

Rugby 22 was by EKO. I agree is had some very good elements to it and the best modern-day game, still had heaps to improve on and customisation was limiting the game.
