Maybe they dont. Maybe the license agreement needs renegotiating and theyre waiting for feedback from Nacon. Maybe they arent updating kits at all but arent allowed to comment about it.

Brilliant.
The game has come a long way since the beginning. I am certain that once it is finishedâbecause no, it isnât finished yetâit will be the best rugby game out there, as it has enormous potential. But the wait is incredibly long; itâs crazy. Iâm almost at the point of hoping you announce a paid update just so we can finally see a finished game. So please, take at least 10 minutes to reply to us; even if the news is bad and we have to wait another two months or more, at least weâll have a schedule. That said, kudos for what youâve achieved with this game, presumably with a small team.

Because its not big ant (the developer) that aquire the licenses, that responsibility lies with Nacon (the publisher) who also own the rights to rugby 25.
It doesnt take much imagination to realise there are rules in place that stop big ant posting anything negative about the product and that could stretch to addressing a (perceived) lack of long term support for the game.
There were multiple occasions during the lead up to the initial release where we had no info about the game at all. Responsibility for that does not lie with BA

Its not just us asking questions with no response. Theyve been incredibly responsive over the last 2 plus years.
Right now theyre working on an update.
When its ready they will tell us whats included in it

For now, as long as I see guys from Big Ant commenting, Iâm holding out hopeâbut I agree, itâs becoming increasingly rare, just like the updates

I genuinely thought this game had potential, but itâs clearly a thing of the past, after all this time I really think we canât talk anymore about potential.
I lost hope long time ago.

Could be. But I have no hope.
All I know is that they promised a ârugby inmersionâ and I donât feel it in any sense.
I just want a rugby game with this features:
- Gameplay
- Gameplay
- Manage international squads whatever you want (whatever other league/cup is welcome)
- Custom competitions
There are not any of this features in the game. Last one is close, but you canât make a World Cup format, there are not fitness, sanctions or morale in it (and injuries are random), so it is almost like playing single match all the time, but with a schedule and standings (witch you can do with a paper and a pen)

One of Two things could happen, big ant puts a good amount of work into Rugby 25 so that r25 becomes a complete game and from this transfers over onto the next rugby gameâŚthink about it, r25 work done of the game only lacks on field play. And big ant is working well to make it good with patchesâŚwill we see another rugby union game from big ant? I surely hope soâŚwhat do you think?

In talking about big antâs first try at a rugby union game, I think they have done well. And they continue to give good patches over time.its like theyâve almost fixed gameplay in rugbyâs basic form, which is a good foundation for next rugby game, once fixed.

I hope they do not make another rugby game. Rugby 25 is not even a finished game and never looked like it was going to make sense imo. It just isnât rugby.
BA should stick to league I reckon, which they are not bad at.
UNLESS R27 was completely different to R25. Then sure why not. Have another go.

2 years post early access an we still have something that is miles away from accurately depicting rugby union.
I guess at this stage with the next rwc a year away it would be too late for another publisher to consider releasing a game, so itll likely be a BA game in 27.
Hopefully they leave well alone after that

It boggles my mind in 2026 we still dont have a Rugby game that can touch JonahLomu or Rugby 08, having Rigby 25 have some licenses and RC having the other ones sux sort of like how Fifa has most and PES had the others why can 1 just not have all the licenses.

BigAnt needs to drop the expensive official licenses and put 100% of their budget into gameplay, physics, and AI. If they build a rock-solid, fully customizable base game, the community can use the Academy to recreate any real-world league or player anywayâespecially now that AI tools can make asset creation so easy. If they just open up the PC version to proper, deep modding, the community will handle the realism. Weâd basically get a fully licensed experience, and Big Ant could focus entirely on making the best playing sports game on the market.
