Rugby 25 Megathread

The disappointment, you feel there are some really small changes that would make a big difference, running lines, adding 5 to a ruck etc despite the needed overhaul of AI, unfortunately doesnt look like today is the day.

Definitely not today bud. Let’s see what they can cook up for Tuesday.

Week after week its just a hige dissapointment. I am now starting regret my purchase and hope for this game. The progresd since release has been minimal at best. From my experience so far i will be very wary of ever purchasing a game by BA again. I feel as though the price of the game does not reflect the state of the game. Its a true shame and the glaring problems that are week after week being ignored is so frustrating. I am begining to loose hope for this game.

Something I have been thinking about recently, and especially since the updates arent making major strides, it is fair to assume we will be waiting months for the game to hit its potential. Within months, we will have a new season upon us, with new squads and new kits and the game will not reflect it. Similarly, if it takes months to get up to scratch, we wont have an active playerbase.

It seems a smart strategy by BA might be to let us keep beta testing this game for them, then re release it once its up to a good standard as Rugby 26 with updated kits and teams. This would allow a fresh look at the game from a review standpoint and might attract a bigger playerbase to facilitate online competitions. Of Course, us beta testers should not be paying for this re-release but I feel like since we gave our cash over, we should get the reward eventually if the gameplay is good that there is an active playerbase.

I read this on the Steam Community hub as well.

@JNT_BA or @MattW can you guys kindly give clarity on what this stability improvements are based on players feedback, because we know majority of the players want customisable teams and players, rucks, penalties and offsides and so much more,

Can you guys just atleast have a look at the game play of Ea’s Rugby 08 or Rugby 22, adding the editing ability of Teams on the game please, this would be a huge improvement for majority of us

In league mode the points system is currently recording the losing bonus point but not the bonus point for scoring 4 or more tries it seems.

And it seems to not be team dependent either.

Well at least it can’t be a bad patch, let’s hope

Yup theres no stat checking with it, any player against any player, on any difficulty will fend that first player off, it also seems locked so that no further stick moves are available after that first one unless you pass to another player.

I don’t know if it is the case but Super rugby has the ā€œ3 or more try of the opponentā€ type of bonus point.
Try to see if is consistent with that

Super Rugby Pacific is a bonus point for scoring 4 tries in a match.

ā€œSuper Rugby Pacific follows the same points system as other international rugby union competitions. This includes four points for the winning team and two for a draw. Additionally, the bonus point system is also used in the tournament, with one point awarded for a team that scores four or more tries, and one extra point for a team that loses by seven or fewer points.ā€

Having the losing one is a step up from EA when they had none I guess

Luckily this is still just the EA period. Imagine if none of the laws or rules worked when the game was fully released. Would be crazy :smirk:

Seems a legit url…
Always knew Super Rugby used this bonus point system.

Yeah i mean, the gameplay falls apart, but the loosing bonus point is a must:joy::sweat_smile:

Trying to stay positive! It may be just coincidence but I play games on the easiest difficulty and switched to medium…and I reckon the game plays better. Less accidental offsides…I can manage to win the occasional ruck/maul when defending…less forward passes. The downside (there always is one) is that the game occasional freezes when there is a ā€˜gameplay situation’ that occurs a metre or so from the AI teams goal line…such as a tackle or a ruck or a player lying on the ground and not willing to move.
Oh yes…also I watched an AI v AI came and the teams scored points (tries and conversions)…all previous comp v comp games ended scoreless.

Everything needs to be fixed. Not just the gameplay.

Points must be relatively new. They certainly didn’t always use that system. Or maybe it was ha ha. IDK.

Well good to know it is right in those scores now either way. I can try the more than 3 tries difference thing now.

@Lachie_BA @JNT_BA

Guys please have a look at animations for taking a penalty to kick to posts, the kicker showing to posts and the referee as well,

Look at the contesting/jumping for the ball button as this looks like it doesn’t work.

Look at late tackles as well, as soon as a player pass the ball, we are not even able to put a tackle on them.

Look at the AI kicking the ball a bit more as well, as they are running from anywhere.

Again I plead, look at Rugby 08 and Rugby 22 and implement these things, (gameplay etc)

And allow us to edit teams, add and remove players. Please! So that the game gets more attractive for Rugby Fans

@ Gillymore

I was wondering, what difficulty did you have your ai v ai game set to? Also what sort of scores were you getting? Hopefully a little better than a scoreless draw or a 5-0, 7-0.

Hello,
I’m making a request regarding licenses.
Could you please make an effort for the RCVANNES TOP 14 team, which is licensed… The stadium name isn’t correct, so I created the stadium myself, but it’s impossible to change it in Manage Team (RCVANNES).
By default, the team plays at the Stade de France… it’s a joke ^^ . So please replace the Oyonnax stadium (currently in pro d2) with the real RCVANNES stadium (Rabine stadium)
It would also be good to add the players’ faces, and especially their real skin color.
PS: The names of players in matches (TOP 14) still don’t appear (only their positions). thanks

Today’s update on PS5 couple of things I’ve noticed from a couple of games.
Side cam, the right stick moves seem to be applied consistently now. Bump off works, and you can use them in both halves! That’s a win.
Though now it’s even easier to spank the AI.
AI seems a bit quicker, but still not posing a threat.
It may be fluke, but the stupid aerial dive to score seems to be less frequent. :+1:
And the transfers in career now let me make an offer for my out of contract players before another club gets them as default.
Small steps, but positive progress.
PS5, side cam, hardest difficulty. Having fun.

5 minutes halves on medium difficulty. Newcastle Falcons 14 Exeter Chiefs 7. (Both teams fairly evenly skilled overall). All scoring being try/conversion. No drop goals…no penalty kicks to the sticks. Newcastle and Exeter are my 2 ā€˜test teams’ for trying gameplay stuff out. As a footnote…all the other comp v comp games were played on very easy difficulty and all were 0-0 shutouts.

Addendum…just to clarify…this game was AI v AI.

I’ve just had a 7-7 between Stade Francais and RC Vannes. I play on 20 minute halves and easiest difficulty. This is AI v AI by the way. I’m not playing the game in Play Now, I’ve started a Top 14 competition. My aim is to hopefully play all the main leagues in AI v AI format. I’m very much into the stats that sports games can produce this way. It’s not been too bad a start for Rugby 25. It’s very early days and it will take many updates to get the game playing really well. But I am enjoying it which is the main thing.

Ruben Love of the Hurricanes and All Blacks skin tone needs adjusting. It is currently too dark. The skin tone looks even darker in cinematics. Screenshot from his most recent match included for reference.
