I hope bigant focuses on three things in the next update.
Passing - the speed of the ball needs to increase. The floating slow ball needs to go. The pass delivery from button press to activate also needs to be quicker.
Maybe this can be something that we see from halfs, hookers and others with high passing skill.
Support play- ai at the moment is either not running onto the ball or over running the play. There need to be more plays with less tram lines (set plays) make a couple of the pass options be tram lines and the other players just follow the runner in a diagonal line for out the back option.
Ruck- we need to be able to manually influence the play the ball speed by wiggling the stick. Create some risk and reward by giving this a slight risk of a ball spill or play the ball error. But also increase the possibility of a six again or penalty. We need a way to create gaps in the defence.
Cool, nice to now it was not wishful thinking. Or a placebo effect. And this is how I play the game, like a puzzle, I will try different things to see what works best in each situation, and somtimes doing this I get smashed by the AI because I am testing different things, but in the long run, it help figure out , what works best in each situation, I call this the game within the game. Like in Rugby 25 , I would see how long I could retain the ball by just adding 2 in the ruck offensively. And this is when I noticed I could somewhat quick play the ball, and pick and go with forward every know and then.
What do you do to win the Team rewards/ card pack awards on Coach Battles? I won a game of Tug-O-Footy thinking thatâd win me a booster and super league pack but it hasnât.
Maybe the defence could be made to sometimes have players randomly come in off their line or be automatically drawn into a tackle opening holes at random intervals to help break up the line a bit more or even stamina levels over the course of a match could determine how fast players slide In defence again creating varying sized gaps and potentially looser tackling ability.
Scoreboard pressure could also maybe make these defensive mistakes happen more frequently?.
These are just simple ideas that could possibly be added to the game.
My big ideas are probably in the Fifa type individual team and player tactics but that can wait for another time lol.
The other top priority is the ai defense is not organic enough. It feels like it is tracked to the ball not the player with the ball. Something needs to be done about this as at the moment it is nigh on impossible to draw and pass.
I donât want a cake walk but I want to see the opposition defense bite. It you need to be able to create space. Obviously this coupled with support play. AI support is terrible, my centre and winger are constantly stuck in the mud and 15 meters behind a back line play.
The game has moved in a positive direction but needs a lot of improvement in attack and defense to make this feel like a proper game of league.
The attack like I have said is way to focused on the set play tram lines for player attacking movement. You can have a three on two and your players get pulled away to the wrong side to become part of a set play or get stuck in the mud as they are not on a tram line. I want to see a passive move up from every player, that is a couple of feet behind the ball player on every touch. I also would prefer to see set plays only called by the player. Hold L1 for left side activation and R1 for right.
Maybe a gameplay coding thing which helps me and that Iâm grateful for. AI player finds a hole in my defence and runs through it. Heâs going to make big metres or even run through for a try. I start pressing buttons trying to choose a defender to run AI player downâŚonly for the AI player to inexplicably pass to another AI player who has my defender near them. I make the tackleâŚand thank my lucky stars.
In real life you hit the kickers legs itâs a penalty. This needs to be implemented to stop people hitting you mid kick animation on the last and your kick not getting off. Itâs so slow to do the animation most people just run it on the last every time.
BUG: Noticed on Veteran difficulty is such a step up from Pro and there needs to be an inbetween. Going from winning 30-0 on Pro to losing 22-30 on Veteran after grinding out my best match isnât good balance.
BUG: Opposition can hold down my players for 3-4 seconds but when I do it for longer than 1.5 seconds the â10 METRESâ call goes off and a new set begins. Makes 0 sense. Also, why do my players all stand around and do nothing when I hold a player down? Arenât they meant to get onside? What is even the point of holding a player down then?
BUG: Hooker runs through my markers and theyâre never really onside whereas the AI ALWAYS has their markers square? Why?
BUG: Iâm sick of the 5th option kick where you seemingly knock it on applying pressure to their kicker or vice versa. They drop the ball. But my player somehow magically makes contact and knocks it on? Also, the accidental offsides are so weird as well.
It seems like a very cheap and easy way to increase difficulty. Was the exact same on RLL4. It needs to be changed.
In addition to that, theres nothing that really seperates players jobs by position. For example, a props job is to get good forward and generate quick play the balls. A halfs job is to play off the back of that and choose to either pass, run or kick. A 2nd rowers job is to run lines between defenders and target playmakers in attempt to break the tackle but also fatigue them. A backs job is to work off the back of the platform set by the forwards and finish off the halfs decision making.
Unfortunately, there isnt a strategy in this game. It seems like pass, pass, pass, run from dummy half, fend, side step is something everyone can do and it gets boring.
Was this the Tigers one? West Tigers vs Castleford Tigers? If so, I did this challenge too and thought the rewards would have been given they day after the challenge ended? But yeah nothing received either as yet and that was a couple of days ago, could be tomorrow with it being the weekend? Would be good to know when rewards are given i.e. is it ever Monday as an exampleâŚ
Can we make the ProTeam seasons shorter? I feel like 2 month seasons are too long and top players have nothing really to play for as keeping rank 1 is pretty easy.
i really hope the next few update bring the alternative jersey for all teams. like the indiginous, broncos blackout, bulldogs heritage etc. i know pro team has the anzac jerseys but im talking all game modes and all jerseys
Itâs not just the holding down, itâs everything. The swapping player input starting at pro becomes useless in defense, no longer changing to the correct players. If you do swap the player becomes stuck in the mud often for a split second. Markers become offside more regularly even despite holding down, also they often refuse to move the direction you want. Tackle inputs sometimes donât register, big hits almost become impossible to do.
Its like as you go up in difficulty you are not fighting better ai, but cheating from the code and deliberate nerfing of inputs and timing. You are grinding against the machine and it sucks the enjoyment out of the game. I donât want to be combating the mechanics of the game, I want to be playing better ai.
That is just on defense, similar stuff happens on attack, the offload timing gets nerfed. Speed gets nerfed, support play seems even worse, players get stuck in the mud often. This has been something that has destroyed these games for ever I guess but in 2025 this type of thing is unacceptable. At the bare minimum most of the money should of went into AI being improved, the game should have been made to be more organic and free flowing. Itâs to on rails, the more you play the more obvious it becomes. The frustration mounts as you realise that you have to resort to cheese to win a match. Or that your fighting controls in higher difficulty and nerfing not better more capable ai.
I was positive the other day with the improvements but now I am back to being a bit apathetic with this one. I hate that despite still winning games on pro I need to drop to armature just to feel like I have control. So now I am not enjoying the game in season mode because I am either winning every game or winning most games fighting the controls and having things I enjoy like a big hits taken from me.
Add this on top of backs still feeling slow on a break, still hanging 10-15 meters behind a ball runner etc and the blood starts to boil.
