I feel like there was so many bugs that were there at the start of the game. Now in an effort to fix them the gameplay has tanked and become unplayable, and creativity has suffered too. Very soon this game will be binned before getting to 2026
Itās heading that way, last couple days have been disappointing more then the joy you should feel playing a game.
I genuinely donāt see a point in discussing how to improve Manager Mode in terms of a āmanagerial wishlistā like player progression, improved transfers/stats or adding NSW cup etc when the gameplay is so bad in its current form.
Iām critical but I want this game and this franchise to succeed.
I reckon the game just needs some speed changes. A few tweaks will make a huge difference to the gameplay. I donāt think much has to change to get it right it all seems good just speed changes will make a big difference especially Line defense movement. This is the key to opening the game up and making it more fun in my opinion.
Firstly I would get rid of all the slow play the ball animations and just a have the quickest play the ball animation in the game for every situation, held or not.
Second, I would speed up passing so passes are more crisp, there are too many floating passes.
Thirdly, I would slow the speed of the defensive line movement till it gets to a point when a tackle is made and the line retreats and spreads out it does it at a speed where quick play the balls and quick passes out wide can catch out the edges as the line spreads out when resetting. Holding down will allow time to reset the line.
This way you will get more of a balance where you can play the middle, suck in defenders, then if you get quick play the balls you can quickly spread the ball and attack the edges with more effectiveness because the defensive line will have to scramble more often due to a slower spread speed.
Itās just tuning till the right speed balances are found.
Maybe sliders could be an option because we all have our own preferences.
Iām not against that idea. Fair reward.
Hey everyone i am new to the game and play on amateur does anyone have advice how to create a gap through the other teams defense cheers
You can trigger gaps in the defense by running the set play lines that appear on the screen before the play the ball. Iām not very good at doing it like some people Iāve seen but with practice holes appear.
Thank you Big Ant for adding more powerful grubbers, those over kicking it ,just release quicker , once we learn how to use it will be a great addition. But there will be a slight learning curve. Has anybody been able to string together more than two offensive skills to get pass the defender? Iām not even sure if Iāve been able to do two in a row. They need to adjust some, Was too easy to fend in the past. But now they have nerfed it too hard to string two skill moves in a row. Should happen every now and then. Most of the game has improved ,but thereās a couple things that have gone backwards.
Hi can anyone say if this game gets a update evrey thursday thanks
Iāve only played a couple of games since the recent patch and it looks like the difficulty on amateur is now a more incremental step up from Rookie and not so close to Pro now. I enjoyed my games on amateur so far.
It didnāt seem like opposition players were quite as much in the way of off-loads as they have been, but havenāt tested much yet.
Great hearing the ref call the tackle numbers!
v1.0.2814 (PS5) - (Veteran Level - Side Far Classic) since patch dummy half is now more responsive to play and reduced occurrences of going walt disney. Observed short passing between forwards at the defence line on more than one occasion by CPU team which is nice touch. Nameplates of cpu attacking team displaying whole match. Heard ref calling tackles, grubbers have improved and overall better AI behaviour in matches. Great job Bigant, more enjoyable to play again since the previous build nuances.
I am hopeful that AI runs set play shapes when in attack targeting weaknesses and gaps in user controlled teams. Obviously more content such as NSW Cup , Pacific Championships and Ashes to come.
So after GF will all field markings be available to use in game?
Will Q Cup stadiums be included eventually?
I donāt know if anyone watched the Dally M Medals the other night, but I created the 2025 Team of the Year, along with Teams that represent all NRL positions (FB, W, C, 5/8, PR, HK, SR & LCK) search my username: NinjaNewbie_ and check out, Download and rate all those teams ![]()

. THEYāRE AWESOME!!
I donāt know if it had anything to do with the updates or it was just good timing / luck on my part, but a week or 2 ago we were discussing how to do a 2 point FG when the ball, when kicked at its hardest, doesnāt seem to travel far enough ⦠and the other day I nearly booted one from halfway.
Last play of the game, I was up by more than a converted try, siren went, so I just thought Iād have a crack. Hit it sweet from the 50m line, sailed straight and true ⦠but hit the crossbar!
Somehow I could almost get one from halfway, and can get them from about 35m out, but from 40m+, I just canāt get them to go near just yet.
How hard would it be to add fatigue to the defensive line?.
As it is it just doesnāt slow down. Would be a nice touch for players to gradually lose speed. It would open the line more creating attacking chances.
Also, if anyone wants to see what the inside of Dylan Edwardsā head looks like, youāre welcome..!
100% The sliders on the Rugby Challenge series, allowed you to set the game to your liking, because you are never going to satisfy everyone, but the sliders give you a better chance to allowing users to play the game how they like to play. They way I had my sliders on the rugby challenge series, made it seem like a completely different game then the default setting which was more arcadey. Tried to create a more realistic simulation type feel and I was able to that because of the sliders.
It would really take a lot of pressure off Bigant because we all have our own gameplay preferences and they canāt please everyone or themselves by making changes all the time for better or worse.
Yes, for me the game has improved in some areas and declined in others, if we had sliders we could customize that. The game is starting to feel like Rugby league 4 but with more offloads, which is good, but a few updates ago it felt a little more free flowing, know it feels like itās on train tracks some, like Rugby league 4. Hopefully they can go back to a flow, were more users were praising the game. I am glad they increased grubber power. Those complaing about is because they donāt want to take the time to learn how to limit the power, feel like they want automatic grubbers. And you see that is why we need sliders, for those that want a more arcadey feeling versus a more simulation type game. Not that one is better then the other , just different preferrences.
Totally agree. I personally feel there is a pretty good game in there if they can fix the dummy half/play the ball slowness & inactivity, improve the speed players get into position & eliminate the floaty passing.
Managed to string a few good weeks together but the latest update has really hurt the game again:
-
Iāve noticed that my passes are hitting my players a lot more often than before, this is a new issue as I very rarely had it before, this almost always leads to a turnover and has cost me 3 games already in about 2 hours of playing.
-
Big hits are now entirely too common when they were pretty good before. In the actual NRL there isnāt an exchange of ball knocking big hits on a regular basis you may see one a game sometimes not even, Iāve just exchanged three with an opponent.
-
Pro difficulty which is what Iāve always traditionally played on and was comfortable with is now too difficult, I tried to move down to amateur but thatās too easy so the difficulty I enjoyed and was comfortable with previously now seems to be gone.
-
Just turned it off after trying to tap a normal regular pass to my winger only for my centre to hospital pass it over the sideline. Punishing the player for using the designated controls is annoying.
