Rugby League 26 - Prelaunch - Megathread

are you ok? have you seen Fifa over the last 10 years? release the same game every year and make billions dont see anyone complaining about that… or maybe 2k also does the exact same modes atleast bigant with a significantly less budget and a sport with a fanbase about 0.1% the amount of soccer and basketball is adding new modes pro team etc. Gameplay is similar because its already decent, if they fix the glitches all they really need to do is make pro team good and have a in depth career mode…

The thing is RLL2 and RLL3 were good games. The direction they took it with RLL4 felt more like the original RLL game. I really don’t understand the change

Ross has always been like that. Seems even my single wish can’t be fulfilled. Feel sorry for that dude that listed about 400

Guess i better order it from somewhere, don’t think my local Big W will get it in.

Bro what are you talking about. No one is expecting fifa/2k/madden level.

What we do expect is after 8 years, is a game that has significantly built off it’s previous version. The videos do not look like that at all.

I will hold out judgement until release day. But with the very limited that’s been released, my expectations are low and we would be absolutely within our right to express major disappointment for a repolished game 8 years later. Its doing the bare minimum and insulting to fans

That’s because direction he is kicking it? Left to right side would be stupid and unrealistic!? Here’s hoping they did same with hands to feet

Hi will the game be on the U.S. PlayStation Store?

Does that include the slow step animation when changing direction?

Does the game work tho?

Can’t believe yall thought we were getting a brand new game built from the ground up animations wise, when RLL games were 4 deep and are a fantastic base to build upon. This is RLL5 but with an update franchise name.

My hope has always been it’s RLL4 with smoother in play movements, better graphics, deeper be a pro and franchise modes.

To this day being able to see your feeder club players and bring them up to cover positions was one of the best franchise choices in a sports game.

Exactly the same thing happened with Rugby 25. Game got delivered early but was super basic as didn’t have the day one patch.

The day one patch changed a bit but the game was still an absolute shambles.

I will be happy if it is an updated RLL4 tbh if it is playable. They can do a lot of things with on going updates.

Is there a link to these X posts somewhere?

so yall all saying youd rather a brand new system and it be in the state rugby 25 is then already a solid base (rll4) - which I might add is the best league game so far.

Just search Rugby league 26 on X and you will find some videos pretty easy. They dont show to much really, definitely nothing that could give you an idea of the gameplay feel or changes.
The short bit of gameplay does very much look like rll4 but the picture quality is sh*t. Im on the same boat as you, A more polished version of rll4 is fine by me.

Without development updates, it could really just be a reskinned RLL4 they worked on for little to no time.

A full price game should not be almost identical to an 8 year old game on old hardware and should not require on-going updates, especially if it takes the same amount of updates Rugby 25 has taken to get to a playable state (playable is still questionable, the amount of times I’ve uninstalled out of frustration haha).

I hope for everyones sake the day one patch brings a wide range of updates but I am very skeptical.

The leaked footage shows Burton goal kicking right footed, just like Munster kicking right footed in the Nrl trailer, this has to be a mistake 8 years on & they still can’t get the little things like this right.

To be honest a re skinned game of the prior version labels about every 2K and EA game for the last decade at least. Aside some additions like pro team and tweaks, which RL26 has added pro team so in essence they would just be following suit.

So you totally can expect something like that, whether consumers think it is right or not won’t really matter.

I will mostly just be happy if it is an updated and tweaked RLL4 because of my experiences with Rugby 25 (@LordG if you know you know ) and that being the worst game I have in my library and definitely the worst rugby game on the market because of it still being not rugby at this point after all of these updates. Rugby League Live 4 is a playable, enjoyable game even. So to have that as a base tweaked and updated a bit, yes … would be totally happy. The updates would only need to improve, not fix then unlike Rugby 25.

I am definitely not expecting anything major and new gameplay wise. If anyone else is they may be disappointed possibly? I just want a playable and current league game.

its not almost identical… theyve added a whole new mode and madde career mode 100x more indepth stop complaining, as i said every one buys fifa every year and thats even less of a change

Do we have career mode details?

I for one, am not surprised that it could potentially be built off RLL4 and to be quite honest - happy that is the case ! Why would anyone in the business throw away years of development on a previous iteration of the game ? It helps build a foundation from, fix the bugs that are known and improve on things based on feedback and reflection.

I think this is a smart move that only benefits us as rugby league gaming fans and bodes well for the future of the franchise .
