I assume Big Ant were only able to begin development on the game just after Tru Blu’s license expired in July 2024. That means they’ve only had a year to put the game together. Considering all of the new modes, player scanning, new rules and graphical upgrades, they likely didn’t have enough time to focus on gameplay updates and made a call to re use a lot of RLL4. Explains why a lot of the animations are re used, and I’m sure they chose instead to put in as many new and unique animations in as a priority (player specific try celebrations). It’s unfortunate that we aren’t getting a new game from the ground up based on the wait, but hopefully they surprise us with a reasonable amount of new gameplay changes!
Rl4 was a step up and a step backwards.
As someone that was around when HES had just released two random images online about a game that was being worked on (RLL1), the change in developers and the random issues that were referenced, it was a nightmare.
I still remember calling HES nearly on a weekly basis to be told random updates via telephone haha.
Anyway, SIDHE came and went - Mario was too arrogant for feedback and it made posting on forums pointless, he was basically ducking and weaving any negativity. However, in the end - they did end up releasing some playable games, in particular RLL2, Rugby Challenge was decent too.
RLL 3 - was a bomb. Shocking game. RLL 4 was playable with friends, but that was about it.
Excited for RL26, but jeez some of the contradictions coming out take me back to those RLL 1 days.
“Day 1 patch will fix alot”
“This is an old build from several months ago”.
Just a note, Galvin signed with the dogs on 31 May, that gameplay cannot be that old - as clearly the roster is somewhat up to date.
We are told new animations and etc, yet the updated game (alleged really old build) but zero new tackles? come on now…it doest work like that.
Mario was relatively pleasant compared to Ross
I presume you’re just confused but RLL1, 2 3 & 4 were Big Ant games, not Sidhe games.
Another gripe of mine is that we still don’t exactly what leagues are in the game and we’re two days from release.
RLL 1 & 2 were SiDHE games
They absolutely were not Sidhe games. Rugby League Live 1 & 2 were Big Ant games.
Rugby League 1, 2 & 3 were Sidhe games…
Rugby league (PS2, XBox, PC), rugby league 2 (PS2, XBox, PC), Rugby League 3 ( Wii) and the first few Rugby Challenge games were Sidhe.
Rugby League Live, 2, 3, 4 & Rugby League 26 are Big Ant.
ah that makes sense, not the live titles.
The galvin thing you said was a oh snap moment.
At the end of the day, they are selling a game. I hope the game play improves significantly in this ‘massive’ day 1 update - as an avid gamer and league fan it is all I want.
But no gameplay until 9am on 17 July is concerning. At least Ross has tried to push the comment of not to buy the game and wait for live streams, but why not just release something yourself and create more buzz.
Did anyone see if Talyn Da Silva was already on the Eels roster? It is possible that roster updates still come through online. Either way, There are very legitimate concerns about this game.
For me personally, i would love to see the game opened up to steam workshop. Let the community make fixes and adjustments to the game. Thats a completely different argument though!
It’s really unfortunate the leaks happened. But that’s what happens when whoever is to blame doesn’t release official up to date gameplay in a timely manner.
He was on the roster and he looked great in the menu’s, facescan wise
Yep this is exactly the issue. If they had put out some gameplay vids of the finished product it wouldn’t have been an issue.
I’m surprised they haven’t put anything out now
Damage is done and all that can happen is thursday come. Ross even said that on twitter. “you’ll all see on thursday and make up your own mids”
Doesn’t fill me with confidence
89 Rated Players have been revealed::
- Liam Martin, Zac Lomax, Reece Robson, Jerome Luai, DCE, Xavier Coates, Pap, Hudson Young, Hammer, Cam Murray, Elisa Katoa
Some interesting choices of 89, some justified. Interesting to see how many will 90+ rated beside Cleary and Munster
What is “Pro Team” mode and how does it work?
I gather that it is something from BigAnt’s AFL games, but I haven’t played any of those.
From the sounds of it, basically their version of FIFA’s Ultimate Team. I’d assume it’ll be online based
Collect player cards (current/legend players) with in game and real $$ to create a team and play others online.
They have it in AFL and have added it to Cricket 24. Games like Fifa have had it for a long time.
Big Ant have been working on it for a while dating back to the previous AFL but had issues with player associations etc. as they wanted to make sure ex players were paid for their cards.
Okay, thanks. I don’t really play online, so I probably won’t bother with it.
