From what i understand the licences came up for grabs years ago… so i guess they have been working on it for a while…
From the lack of info / press… you’d think Tru Blu were still involved. ;

Just a suggestion for future career modes, with the Dolphins recently entering and now the Bears to enter in 27 it would be great if the Coach career had an expansion/relocation option for your team aka NBA2K etc.
Can confirm that Tru Blu are not involved in the “development” or “publishing” of RL26 and that the licence was not renewed by them. I was informed of this by Sebastian himself early to mid last year, i do know more why the long delay between titles and what was occurring and why Tru Blu are no longer in the frame but it is not my place to comment on that as it is personal in nature. It is unlikely it has been 2-3years in development but truthfully with the the existing foundation Bigant has established they do not not need that timeframe to build a quality product…so pumped for this title, my pre-order is locked and loaded.
As a further thought, it appears the lack of information was not a Tru Blu /Big Ant thing when they were involved together in the past but more so the controlling of information being released by intellectual property owners.
I am hoping the “gameplay” includes this but don’t think it will, between set’s, the outside backs are the first ones to take the hit ups after FB returns, and the forwards take longer to get back onside, because from what I remember with RLL4 is the line is almost already set to attack on the first tackle. 1 little wish for the game that would make it so realistic. Can’t wait.
Yeah a quick search showed Big Ant are taking up with Nacom on this one… was just making a subtle dig at all the secrecy.
No idea where that list came from or if the author is trustworthy… but speculation would lead me to think if they’re claiming 2-3 years development that that would be piggybacking off their Rugby / Afl titles.. .
Excited… but miss the old days where Ross, HBK and the gang kept us informed along the way.
And i agree with Valhalla… ive been suggesting a Expansion Team Franchise for years… with the Bears and other potential teams coming in… it would be a great addition. Even bringing your local club into the NRL would add replay value.
I think either way it will be a quality game, AFL26 has really impressed me particularly the commentary this time round. I hoping for a similar experience with RL26 with additional features and content.
Yes, those times were fun…I like the expansion team idea, have never really considered it.
Idk… has Eddie Hemmings been confirmed?
I thought he retired.
I’d love to have Brian Carney in the game.
Super pumped for this!! Its been to long
I would like to see selectable commentary teams that bring their own flavour to a match, bit like how it was implemented in Rugby World Cup 2011. Even to go as far to see Rabs Warren voice matches with Sterlo and which may be possible in the future with advances in AI voice synthesis using only “minutes” in obtaining different emotive voice sampling. Dont know the situation with Ed Hemmings though…
Where do you think we start in player career mode? NSW / q cup? Or do you think they’ll have a season of SG ball / mal meninga cup to get started ?
Also hoping there are squad tactics like the afl has put out, so your team can play different styles of rugby league - yardage based with strong ball carrying wingers and a mobile pack, fast quick outside backs, keep it through the middle then spread or spread side to side etc would be cool
I would like to see:
NRL National Schoolboy Cup (ie; Palm Beach Currumbin, Keebra Park, Marist Bros etc) then;
Jersey Flegg then;
NSW/QLD Cup then;
NRL/Super League then;
Rep Honours then;
Become Immortal/Hall of Fame player if milestones are achieved during career
Ideally all of those would be great, however I reckon we also need to be realistic on what the team over @ BA can achieve rights wise. If the rumor is true that the NRL hasn’t been the easiest to work worth image rights wise as well as marketing it etc then I feel that NRL National Schoolboy cup would be out of the game altogether. Perhaps from Jersey Flegg and above could be achievable but again it’s all about what BA can achieve (Image Rights are not cheap). However who knows what’s in store for us in the Player Career, guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
Dunno what part of the world you are in Valhalla, but I’m still playing RLL3 (for now).
I’ve been looking to get a second hand RLL4 but the prices over here are just mad! 50 to 90 Euros. I think I’ll give RLL4 a miss and go straight to Rugby League 26. (Needless to say after I’ve checked out game reviews and forum discussions for a few months post release).
Proclubs would be mad in this game
I’m in the Baltics atm, grew up in NZ and Aussie though and heading back there shortly.
As for RLL4 wouldn’t be worth it with RL26 this close? I see AFL23 is the same cost as AFL26 on Steam too not sure what the pricing logic is there.
I will be waiting on some comments to see what the state of the bugs are in the game too ha ha. Hoping we get a belter result here though. I don`t think league will be like Union. I have positivity still on RL26!
Less than 3 weeks to go now and can’t wait !! Looking forward to seeing what the team have achieved this time around and maybe getting some revenge on those Panthers myself for the 2023 GF hahahaa
Obviously no idea how the advertising and licensing works but does anyone else find it odd that the Super League have announced the game but they haven’t released anything further either whether it be screenshots/video, more info etc from the super league side of things.? I know NRL have been horrible and haven’t even announced it (which is crazy!) but why no further announcements from a super league perspective ? I would have thought they announce English commentators, English screenshots, SL player ratings etc to build hype we are all asking about but they still haven’t done anything further in 2 weeks since announcing it apart from a bit of a plug once during a chat on sidelines with the female cover athlete ?
So I guess even though we are hanging for NRL content, even after they have their initial press release - doesn’t mean we will be flooded with any more info or media really just like has happened over in the UK where it’s been crickets since announcement.
Don’t get me wrong though - I am hanging for more info and to see the game in action as much as everyone else having being a Beta tester for all the previous RL games all the way back to Rugby League 2 in 2005 so this will be the very first game I haven’t seen or played prior to release and hanging for more info and gameplay !! I want this game to succeed and provide a great platform for future iterations .
I have noticed that the classification rating has not been listed on either PEGI or Aus Classification Board…could that be reason for the lack of marketing, or is it an approval licensing or stakeholder thing??? Still strange but Ross did mention that time between official announcement and release will be short. I contacted NRL digital during the week and they mentioned couple dates that “possibly” be something (did not say what) being the 03rd or 4th July with a dependency “something” being 01st July???
Don’t quote me on this but I have heard down the grapevine that getting content approved takes a-bit of time in regards to games, With the game having optional online purchases aka chance based purchases (Gambling) it will take a bit longer compared to their earlier games when pro team wasn’t a thing. So that could be why no one has seen anything on the classification records in their respective countries plus the game is mostly likely going to be rated M just going off their last installments of games which have included pro team. This could be why we are seeing a delay in marketing but that seems pretty unlikely.
Yeh I mean I would have no doubt Big Ant are just as frustrated as we all are regarding the lack of advertising and marketing so far . I would imagine the more marketing the better from BAs perspective as it means exposure to ppl to know about and purchase the game on release and I mean from a marketing perspective sometimes companies only start the advertising drive once things are released and available which could very well be the case too - which doesn’t help us fans who are so keen to see and hear about it prior to release after such a long hiatus !
I just thought it would be good to point out that even though NRL and Super League are in charge of the marketing , as we can see from Suoer League , they have announced it and then nothing so best to expect something similar from NRL hahaha
18 days and counting peeps!!
