Rugby League 26 - Prelaunch - Megathread

I’m probably going to stream the game as soon as I download it.

Will go through all the menus, teams and tutorials and play a few games to test it out.

Whats somethings we hope that are fixed for 26 that was in rll4.

Dummy half runs being op.
Dummy half passing into a out of square marker for a penalty.
Scoring a easy try from dummy half 2 meters out from the line.
Rng based tries where you run into a defender and theres a chance youll score.
Punts were good sometimes but other times they went nowhere.
Chips and grubber exploits

  • Having the same side stepping animation for backs and forwards.
  • Conversions being too easy.
  • Tacklers glitching/transporting into tackles when a distance away.
  • chip kick re-gathers being too successful.

Yea didnt like how only wind made it hardish

Please just fix the offloading. RLL4 offloading was horrendous and basically a 99% chance of losing metres. Also bring back wet weather having an effect on the game and making you drop the ball occasionally like rll3. RLL4 rain has no effect. And my final request is the one i really hope they fix, stop the bloody forwards from running infront of my halfback when im kicking down field and blocking it and giving away a penalty. Even when you do the kick set play they still just run right infront of the kicker like their macth fixing

Article in the Age which mentions the RL26 game published on June 29 -

There hasn’t been formal approval yet from the NRL (at time of the article at least anyway which I assume would be close now and maybe that ‘something’ that was happening today July 1 mentioned by NRL Digital team?)

PVL defends son’s role in video game group

NRL boss Peter V’landys has defended placing his son in a focus group to approve the code’s newest video game, which is due to be launched next month.

The game, Rugby League 26, is yet to be ticked off on or even promoted, and V’landys makes no apologies for bringing his family into the process. NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo has also been linked to the process, and he is fuming on behalf of both men at questions over their involvement.

They see it as an attempt to imply they are overstepping their roles and are going to launch an investigation into how this sensitive information made it into this column.

I put information to V’landys and Abdo that detailed the use of focus groups to assess the game, which is due to be launched on July 17. Those with knowledge of the process, speaking on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the matter, told this column that V’landys wanted to show the game to his family and have that as part of the rigorous testing process before it could be approved and then launched.

Persons that are saying this rubbish are either being mischievous or running an agenda,” V’landys said. “We simply wanted a rigorous analysis by an independent focus group where my son would be one of many as he plays the other sports games. We want the game to be the best in the market, so we want an honest analysis not a confected one.”

We contacted the boss of the company, Big Ant Studios, that has developed the game and put questions to him about the influence of the NRL bosses on the product. Those queries were promptly shut down and I was referred to the NRL.

It is fair to say the hunt is now on to discover how this information became public.

So what does this mean exactly? Is the game still released of 17th of this month or will it be delayed?

I am hoping it just means the delay in any marketing and info release from the NRL is due to this focus group and waiting on them to report back to NRL their findings and final NRL approval and based on the dates mentioned above of July 1 from NRL digital marketing ‘something’ was to happen and ‘possibly something’ July 3 or 4 as maybe todays the day Big Ant maybe get some good news from the NRL but it’s all speculation really and no one will know except Big Ant and the NRL :),

The release date is still in tact though at this stage. I would say just as frustrating for BA as it is for us as they have a game they want to market and sell

Where are this games patch notes? The forum?

Tell us when you’re going to do it… I’ll try get on to watch.

Also since i can’t back to back blah blah blah…

Can’t stand V’Dandy… just another sign he’s in it for himself.

I don’t have the best voice for streaming but I’ll give it a go lol.

I back all these, what about 5th tackle kicks? Most of the time the opposition will rush the play maker making it impossible to get a kick away. Bring back slow mo kicking maybe?

Either that or just make the kicking animation quicker or responsive as slow mode may ruin the pacing.

Getting 40/20s, kicking to corners or getting them stuck inside their 10 should require skill.

Trophies look pretty good, some difficulty based ones in there

It’s great news that a new game has been worked on and is due for release very soon.

As a long time follower of the franchise and one who was active in the forums a lot previously (I forgot my login so signed up again) I am very cautious about getting excited.

With zero knowledge on anything due to lack of information provided it’s hard for me to come out and say there is anything wrong with the new game, but I would err on the side of caution when proposing some of the things suggested in this thread.

I may well be stunned and what a great thing that would be. But for now, I am not buying day 1, been there before. Let’s see how this plays out.
