AFL 26 - Megathread - This is not a support forum

Nah, he wasnt on the free agency list nor desisted. I dare say you can do it with any player whose contract is up at the end of the following year. I’ll check next time I get to trade period (if I do).

Sorry, just saw this. Yes please, if possible.

Still got 2 days and the other objectives appear to be 1 match ones (except for the last one with 345 contested possessions! Might need a 10min game of stoppages for that! hahaha).

Ok I’ll put it up now without jacking up the price. Four hour window which is the smallest possible. Good luck!

EDIT:- It’s now up, I could actually set it to one hour. 250 PTC is the minimum I’m allowed. Perhaps consider this this my ‘patreon’ for your YT content!

While I’m here - does anyone know what the freak an anchor card is? I have accrued two frees with a starter card and a founder card but no dice.

Patreon! haha… thanks. I have a bid in… and won it!

For the Anchor Card, I thought the same as you… that it meant a Starter Card… but slightly remember ‘Anchor’ being used for the main Starter cards you select at the start (i.e the team you choose to base your ProTeam off, you select three main ones from each line, then you get filled with other basic cards).
Again, from memory, these would be the Gold Starter cards in your lineup. (I chose GWS and have Coniglio, Himmelberg and Ash).
Have you tried with them?

Edit: It looks like we chose 4 to start, and only the first one was an ‘anchor’. AFL23 PRO TEAM IS HERE. #AFL23 #AFL #PROTEAM

Fantastic.

Nailed it with the anchor call - it appears it has to be one of those initial cards from the team you chose at creation, so there are some starter cards that don’t qualify. One way to do this is by filtering on ‘Starter’ and remembering the team you picked.

The main call out for me is that you can’t filter on ‘anchor’, nor does the word appear in any of the card data that I can tell.

Yep done. He’s on there for 250 PTC for an hour.
Hopefully you get him.

Simmed all the games and got back to trade period. You can sign free agents a year before their contract runs out (during the trade period just offer them a contract).

Also sucks that you can’t check a player’s potential overall when a club offers you a trade involving a player.

Trade logic is ok and the difficulty is fine… but the whole management mode is weird though. Not being able to set any auto training is wild. Why have the option of giving extended breaks after games when you have to manually set all the training and breaks yourself anyway? Pressing “back” skips and confirms things, which is weird too.

I’ve had this exact same issue for months now. Doesn’t matter the distance or the angle or the pressure, AI can never seem to miss on the run. It’s quite frustrating and makes games way too predictable and takes away from the realism/immersion this game should have

I kind of feel like sometimes the game implements a mercy rule when the other team is playing badly and the AI are forced to get a goal no matter your skill level. Ive noticed that my players dont run like normal and its suddenly very hard to mark or tackle in general

I 100% believe this. Even on the easiest difficulty I occasionally find that there’s nothing I can do and it turns up to god mode until they get a goal. It’s actually very frustrating when the game doesn’t perform at the difficulty I expect it to perform at

I mean sometimes it does feel like a mercy rule is needed in the AFL tbh

I hate that they still update pro team each week but can’t be bothered fixing simple things like that.

I think (but could be wrong) there are two lanes - PT and emergency fixes and then something like a quarterly release where something is tweaked in the game. I would hazard a guess that BA are aware but either i) can’t get the balance right or ii) there are bigger fish to fry. This means the ‘request’ (in our minds it’s normal gameplay but anyway) could be a fair way off, there’s no guarantee it will be in the next larger patch.

The ~weekly updates probably just need an hour of testing if any. These updates are text, stats and images for the most part.

I think another issue is the increase deadball blindness. Used to happen once in a blue moon, now every three or four games the AI completely stops dead if the ball has stopped as well. Sure the game ‘restarts’ when you approach the ball but you just know that someone is going to make a sassy YT vid about the AI behaviour. It’s pretty weird and funny.

Long winded rant ahead:

Am I being too soft?

I currently play ProTeam with my Bronze Basic team, because I know the names of the regular, good players on there… and if I don’t get matched to them then I assume I’m playing someone with medium-low skills, and the Basic team will make it a challenge (and save me contracts).

Also, it’s no fun for them to get smashed by a star studded team by 150 points, they’ll probably never play again.

Had a game last night with my Basic team, and the guy ended up being good, and he beat me by 3 goals.

Anyway, I will always play out a match even if I’m getting smashed (but have been stung with very few random disconnections). However, if I see a decent player in the guernsey select screen, I’ll back out, select my good team, and hopefully match with them again.

Would you consider this ‘quitting on you’?

And last night this one good player, refused to play me (10 matches in the lobby - but he backed out every time before the start). Eventually he got abusive on the mic saying I quit on him before… and I think he’s referring to that?

Or Maybe I had a disconnect with him once? Or (more likely) I haven’t, and he’s actually just scared to play my best team.

Anyway, it brings back the need for a ‘Reconnect’ ability, for any random drop outs.

But also, what could the flow be so that I can choose my team AFTER I see who I’m up against?

Maybe show the player name, their Prem Challenge Ladder position, and how many games this season they’ve played, THEN select the squad?

Also, showing how many times they’ve selected ‘Quit Game’ from the menus… i.e explicitly quit a match. So we can see who are the quitters.

What do people think? Is it only me who wants to play a lower rated team online?

Personally, I wouldn’t consider backing out in the menus as quitting.

Agree that the flow of the menus could be altered to allow for a team change after match up. This is how it was in AFL LIVE. The negative to that was some people played a cat and mouse game with the other player switching between various strengths of teams trying to catch the other guy out with a late switch to an OP team. I’m guessing this was taken into consideration for AFL 23 & 26 and perhaps why it is this way now?

As discussed previously, the reconnect option is a good one. WGT Golf (an iOS game) does this well in my opinion. You get one chance to reconnect during a match (30 seconds) and if it happens again or you don’t rejoin within the 30 seconds then the loss goes against you.

Regarding the quitters - again I think we’ve discussed this before. AFL Live displayed this deeper in the Leaderboard Menus. I’ve managed to find a picture of it below. It at least gave you a chance to build up some knowledge of whether it was worth playing a particular player before you entered the match.
There was also a streak bonus which I think was for winning streaks, I’m sure it could be easily applied for games completed though.

Yeah cool. I’m not too fussed if they want to play as an OP team. If they’ve paid for their team, I’m still happy to play with my Bronze Basic team against them if they haven’t played much online before.
So even if it just showed their experience… like online games played, Forfeit rate etc. that would be good enough for me… but I can see how other people would like to know what team they’re up against.

Maybe a ‘3 squad changes allowed’ thing to prevent the last minute switch out (and people will likely choose their best team as the 3rd change they make, giving time to the other person to also choose their best team.
Might be overly complex but would be better to know before it’s too late.

Also, I realize that if this is my biggest concern right now… the game must be in pretty good shape. Haha
