Id say somewhere between Rd1-Rd4 based off similar updates from previous games, could be earlier depends getting the all clear from AFLPA and getting all clubs to let them in to do updated player scans and AFL licensing and commercial teams etc.

The SSP players aren’t finalised till Feb 20 I think so list’s haven’t been finalised yet either.

please help i don’t know where else to turn. been playing the game for 2 weeks now and it’s my first time with an AFL game since PS2. I am having some real issues with gameplay and controls and am going crazy.

- My player kicks the ball backwards when I aim it slightly sideways. Why can’t I aim sideways?

- If the oppo is kicking out, I maya s well put my controller away. They can make it the entire length of the field with chip kicks and my players are never on them, despite me making every tactic a defensive one

- I spent a long, long time doing jostling in the tutorial and haven’t been able to do it once… I’m still 0/3… I press the button at the exact time I’m meant to and my player just runs away from the oppo/ball

- I stick, on average, maybe 3 tackles a game… I don’t understand.. I’m pressing tackle and oppo just runs straight through me with no pressure at all.

- Every time I do a torp pass it goes 10m max… this happens if I kick with minimal power and also max power.

- Oppo can be 10-15m away from the drop of the ball but still makes up the ground in time to mark it?

- Why am I forced to be the ruckman at every single stoppage/centre bounce? I want to be a midfielder.

No real change @Hughja - it looks like the cue is in the rack for 26. Maybe a few tweaks with the new players when they are released in 6 - 10 weeks.

Keep the faith @planeken, 26 isn’t quite as unresponsive as it currently appears. Having said that there are some quirks you need to get the feel of.

AFL 23 and 26 have strong player tracking. It can be disabled in the menu where you get more control but passing is harder. Choose your poison! There is also an old bug where you kick the ball 50 metres over your head - haven’t seen it in months. Odd if that is what you are seeing.

Try playing a lower difficulty for a few games. The AI only kicks out well on hard so this is a bit puzzling.

The player running away doesn’t make any sense. You do not need to be moving the player to contest the ball, let the auo tracking do it’s thing. A lot of this game is just pressing the right button at the right moment.

Sorry I got nothing. Are you sure you’re not playing on hard? The only thing that should consistently happen is the opposition player disposing of the ball while being tackled, keep an eye on the 10m passes that happen a little too often (imo).

    This can happen when you have player tracking. The game plays better with it off but if you struggle to kick to a lead then you’ll have to make a decision.

    Overall 26 handles difficulty quite well - BA have tried to make certain things harder or easier according to difficulty that are still within the player’s control. There’s a couple of exceptions and this is one of them - teleporting players when the AI ā€˜decides’ to win a contest. I find it tolerable but it’s definitely rough to the eye.

You cannot give an AI team mate control of the ruck in this version of the game.

Can you use a keyboard to play afl26 on ps5 slim disc or not?

For the tackling are you just pressing the button? That might be the issue. The tackle is held for as long as you hold the button which is why I’ve got into the habit of holding the tackle button until it’s thrown up or I’ve received the free kick.

Yeah, you need to hold the tackle button, otherwise they just break through.

The other issue people have with tackling AI is that they will typically get a kick away as you tackle (but you don’t quite see the tackle as the camera follows the ball down the field).
So if the AI is facing their goal direction when they receive the ball, you’ll pretty much have to try a smother (tap R1) instead.

@SaintSkeeta Do you think the devs have been tweaking the game last couple months ? I feel the CPU/AI are linking up handball chains and the gameplay feels more chaotic as of recent and I’m a big fan ! Am I right @JNT_BA or am I way off :joy:

Haha I’m not sure.
Most of my games have been either on Easiest, smashing out objectives, or Premiership Challenge playing people online.
I might need to go play a Hard or Hardest AI game to see what you’re saying.

Not sure, but I definitely think BA are top loading a lot of the AI teams in Coach Battles (whatever it’s called - the top one). You wonder why a game on medium isn’t a lay down and nine times out of ten you check and notice you’re playing a team of sapphires.

Really loving the direction AFL 26 online is heading :clap:
Gameplay feels more solid and online stability has improved a lot.

One big request from organised competitive leagues though:
