I’d love Coach cards, and have them have an impact like the ā€˜chemistry’ in the EAFC Ultimate Team mode.
Oh something else… just something to have an effect other than an aesthetic.

I don’t know if there’s room for a similar thing with the other aesthetic cards, like a good banner could rev up the team, or the merch kit could bring a bigger crowd and give a tiny boost to players. :grinning_face:

Not sure I’m a massive fan of the new tackle release logic.

It seems to have more or less removed the ability to release a tackle once you start it. I’d agree that previously you could let go too long after you’d started to tackle which made for a little odd pause type feeling, but I wonder if there’s a middle ground?

The flip side to the change in logic is if you’ve touched the tackle button after your opponent marks and you grab them, there’s no way to release the tackle now and it’s a certain 50m penalty, previously you had a chance to ā€˜let go’.

It will be interesting to see everyone’s thoughts after playing a few games.

Definitely agreed. I’d like to see players being able to muscle themselves out of a tackle as well

I’ll have to give it a go later tonight.

It would definitely stop the standing tackle, let go and tackle them again which results in holding the ball every time.

I did enjoy not having to fully commit to tackles though, especially late in game if you took them to ground you could release the button and the AI would just kick it away.

I think the perfect medium is hold down to fully commit to the tackle or tapping/partial hold similar to a Collingwood late in games how they half tackle and release to try keep the ball live.

That could come across as a flaw though as you are abusing a tactic in game.

As I’ve said in the past I feel like BA trial a few things in the second year cycle of the game to see what works for the new title.

I hope this is actually a sign of things to come for future updates?

Allow manual run up, aim and power generation for set shots.

Get too close to the man on the mark and can end up kicking into him/her

Had this happen to me about a year ago as a ā€˜bug’ on the snap shot. Reported it via support with a video but also suggested it would be great if it did happen occasionally, especially if you overcooked the power and or direction meter. Hopefully it’s a permanent addition!

I had something similar a while ago in the Arc Master when I was stuffing around.
Basically if you set the height of the kick to low (to reduce the wind impact on the kick) then the man on the mark has a chance to touch it.

Who was the kicker in your case? If it was you, did you lower the height of the kick?

Yep it was me, I think I aimed it between the sticks but absolutely cooked the timing haha

New tackle logic patch

Cons -

  • As mentioned if you push tackle once a mark has been completed you are locked in to giving a 50 away as there is no option to release

  • Feels like you are pulled into the tackle animation ( Only feel this throw generic difficulty settings)

Pros -

  • This may not be new but feel like now that you get pulled into the tackle, it now gives you the freedom to switch off the tackling player and control players around the ball (awesome for ball spills, disposal from tackle)

With these tweaks on my custom sliders the new tackle logic feels great I just don’t enjoy the way it plays through the available difficulties (hardest)

Thankfully I won’t experience this jumper clash again!
New tweak to the jumper selection for online games.
This is good because we’ll get to see more guernseys, and not risk the jumper clash!

I’ve liked the addition with the ā€œwalk outā€ on major events but would absolutely love to see the national anthem come back for major events just add that extra feel to big games that feel like it’s lacking in that department. Finals and all Anzac games do it this year so would love to see that return

What actually is the game considering as major event games so I can easily see walkouts? Just ANZAC Day, ANZAC eve and Kings birthday?

I’ve only noticed the Anzac clash between Essendon and Collingwood atm the walk out is similar to a grand final walkout :smiley:
