It sometimes feels like the AI just gives up if the run chase is too large, what are they doing when they need 50 off 20 and they’re just hitting 1s? I’m not bowling that good. I could just lob some in and the result is the same.
It’s really boring and doesn’t feel rewarding winning by 40 runs and the AI still has 7 wickets in hand. Feels more like the outcome has been predetermined so the AI just hands you the win and you just have to bowl out the last 3 overs in a T20.
Just had two games where this happened I hit 160-170 in both, AI can barely get it out of the infield and don’t try slogging things when the chase starts to get out of hand and they try to keep wickets or something, I’m not sure. The powerplays have been fantastic though. They seem to try way harder then, and they should.
But no team should be losing by 20-40 runs with 6-7 wickets in hand, they should be trying for the boundary and losing wickets or getting runs, especially in death overs.
This is exactly how it used to go down in Cricket 19.
AI gotta be smarter than this. It’s simple math at some point. Need 25 off the last over? Maybe a cover drive isn’t a good shot selection.
I have Legend AI set,
67 striker timing
65 run rate
50 for both wicket chance
51 bowling diff
guess I’ll keep moving it up this is what I did in 19 and it didn’t really change anything… Or is there another suggestion?
My thoughts would be to try something counter intuitive and put wicket chance way up with everything too, so they do try shots?

They have no problem smashing if they bat first and it the powerplay of a chase. Just had AI hit 238 on me in a T20 but batting first, highest I’ve seen.
Then I hit a 214 first and same thing again, limp-d shots and not even looking like they’re trying when they need 100 off 40. Win 214/9 to their 158/6, feeling like they’re trying to get to the end without losing wickets vs trying to get runs.
I’ve got very aggressive settings now too for AI.
80 Striker timing
Wicket Pace 68
Wicket Spin 55
Bowl Quality 51
Run Rate target 80
Id suggest taking down the pace and spin wicket chance to below 50,.
I think the AI have a problem chasing, but I think after some testing it’s mainly due to the archetypes,

Ok, ill try next time.
But truly think they could just fix this by programming AI to understand when they’re far behind and with overs running out it is time to take on risk. It’s just math!
I think with this present patch the AI is more setup for test cricket..
They do well in the power plays but then struggle afterwards. They can set a target, but anything over 130 they struggle to chase in a t20.
If they have two archetypes power hitters at the crease it’s slightly better but when they have arechetype rotators it’s like test cricket in a t20.
Hopefully @MattW and his team are looking into this to tweak slightly, but I’ve sent a ticket or two about this.

I set up the wicket chances down to 40 each, had a decent T20, they only lost two wickets and I won by 1 run. But they didn’t even try for the two on the last ball that went to the outfield to try and tie it up!
So yeah, they need to learn how to win in short format chasing. And yeah I agree, batting first and powerplay on both sides is great. Post power play in short format, snooze fest

I wonder if we set up a chasing AI, if when they chase we set to 100 run rate will they chase higher better. I was thinking because maybe there’s some sort glitch happening when the run rate required gets above their target run rate, the AI doesn’t know what to do.
If this is the case, in the backend they would need to make it so their is unlimited targets when chasing, or something to that affect.

If you put the run rate at 95/100, the AI are more aggressive, but it is to do with the archetypes I think. Probably be a patch early new year.
Tell me it’s better! Last patch says improved AI LO scoring. I cant try till later.
I got a T20 in. I scored a dismal 140 but I feel like I would have defended that yesterday. They crushed me in like 16.2.

That sounds promising. Haven’t played yet. Was that on default AI sliders , run rate, striker timing etc?
No. What I was using before. Just under 50 for W chances. But im moving them both back to 50 again for next time. Then I have my higher rates of timing and runs under the Legend setting.
ive been fooling around with AI on some of the settings too. For instance asked how often a batsman times it well and I believe it said 75% so I have striker timing at 75. Which is fine, I want AI to hit as well as I can in terms of timing at least.
Okay, when I get a chance to play , will test out default AI sliders on veteran, then my sliders from before patch. Good that we can change the archetypes for licensed players though.

Hit 178 won by 27. Which is exactly what I won by when I hit 140… coincidence i hope.
Anyway, chasing is just a little better. Saw AI run more 2s and even a 3. But they still cant hit the ball very well
I like it now, this last patch is making for some exciting games, big scores and even some low score thrillers. From here this game could become very good with some other tweaks and additions. Can’t wait to see what’s in store. We’re not even on v1.1 yet.

Yep seems to be getting better with patches and sliders and the archetypes being editable.
Hopefully some more things get unlocked as like they are releasing more content this time like bats etc.
