Bugs and Issues Megathread

I’ve been a gamer my whole life and done pretty decent competively in other games (getting older now tho) so I have a pretty good base to work with when playing a new game. My record is only like 50-25, which includes a decent amount of crashes and of course losing the odd game to something very cheesy or not playing around the bugs as good as I could. There’s still a lot I can improve in but I haven’t really versed anyone who’s significantly better than me either. I don’t know if that answers your question.

Answered perfectly thanks. Didn’t know if you were some smart a$$ who had just got lucky being on while others couldn’t get there so rubbing peoples faces in it - but definitely well deserved; hopefully more competition to help improve everyone when everything is more stable.

Servers are back up now

I know it shows stats at end of each game in career now but does it show top try scorers across the league anywhere?

I bid on a card before the server shut down and update. The time must have ended either before or during. Now that we are on this side of the server being up and the game updated, there are almost 50 pages of “processing listing” cards, one of which is mine. Does anyone know if we will get the card or our ptc back? Cheers

Not sure if this is something I’m doing wrong or if other people have mentioned it but when I’m defending on the line the attacking CPU gets set after set from putting grubbers into my players that register as a knock on with advantage. Is there a way to combat this or is it a bug?

Anyone know if auto interchanges are fixed?
Only 14,15 come on?

Definitely way better following the updates, the few bug bears I have still are to with balance between CPU and User.

Tackle holding is ridiculous from CPU, with them giving penalty length holds for nothing.

User defence does not retreat when you do hold CPU.

Passes still seems that CPU can get faster passes off than the user.

Think it is on the brink, just needs some balance tweaking and will be really fun

Also if the AI can catch markers not square semi regularly I feel the user should be able to do the same. Not sure I have ever caught the AI out so far. Now on Pro but even while on Amateur.

Watched a comp v comp game for first time today. Great action…close game (score ended 6-7). However there were two strange occurrences…

  1. Kick off for the second half. The team receiving the kick were all lined up 5 metres from the kicker/halfway line

  2. One play the ball the defense lined up 20 metres from the play the ball rather than 10 metres

Hopefully it’s a one off situation… I’ll watch the same teams using the exact same gameplay parameters and see what happens.

During 3 kickoffs (defense) all my players ran into the grand stand no one there to cover the ball had over 50 games online first time iv ever seen this!! Update in shambles I think lol

Spotted a couple of oddities in my last few matches after the most recent patch:

  • Took a conversion near the sideline, and it immediately stated it was missed from the moment it was kicked, and just transitioned to the next screen. Annoyingly, it looked like the conversion was good too, but even on replay it stopped a few moments after the kick.
  • From kickoffs, and the occasional other kick situations, one of my players tends to just run most of the way up field, usually the lock. Not exactly sure why, but takes a tackle for them to return to the line.

I played yesterday with auto on and I’m sure all 4 of my subs got minutes. I only realized they were on when they received the ball and then I looked at stats afterwards. I seem to have lost the interchange alert.

Downloaded another update on the PS5 last night around 700 mb
This time I played an NRL game 80 minutes on vintage mode set to wet.

No sign of rain anymore but jerseys do get a muddy look about them
Game was evenly matched for the first 21 minutes I was leading 12 to 10 then I had a player sin binned. Opposition scored converted 3 tries to lead 28 to 12 at halftime. Second half starts they score another to go to 32 to 12 before my player came back. I clawed my way back to get within 2 but they eventually overpowered my tired team and won 60 to 42.
What I noticed was there were very few intercepts but heaps more knock on and double knock ons with the team on 4 occasions first to knock on getting the ball back.
The game stats are a good addition but they are missing set restarts of which there were 6 in the game. Also my player got man of the match even though the opposition flogged me. Not sure if player rankings were updated or it was just because i was in vintage mode but there were way to many offloads by the AI. I had reduced every NRL players rating in the game to decrease this last weekend.
Still able to score easy tries with a chip kick 4 of my 7 were scored this way.
No changes to the custom sections. Jerseys, Stadiums or games.
No AI player names on screen and ref doesn’t call the tackle count. The commentary is boring and i have turned it off. Tried both sets the pommie boys and the Aussie boys. If I was to pick 1 it would be the pommie boys.
No wind affecting kicks.
Still no NSW cup or international teams. I’d actually be happy to pay 5 dollars if they gave us them and fixed the custom section although it is part of the game and should be available in a better version of the previous game.
Still can’t update some player rankings in the squad. My Dragons squad has 45 players from memory in career mode but I can only update 32 or 34.
I expect we probably get another tonight. I will go back to pro mode for 80 minutes and see how that plays out.

I think the logic on interactions from kicks needs a rework. I don’t think kicks hitting a defender should ever really result in a knock on. Played at seems like a really hard thing to judge in the game, so defaulting to ‘not played at” seems like the better option to me. Its pretty punishing to play a good set of defence only to give up a repeat set when a kick hits your player. I’ve tried using Square for the charge down, as stated in the controls, doesn’t seem to make much of a difference.

There is a lot of room for improvement around loose ball and kicks and knock ons
Especially with the AFL experience in house at BA

Any word on the broken trophies/achievements being fixed?

Offside players running back to defend, interfering the passing lanes doesn’t count as a penalty for offside. Rather it’s play on.

Also when players kick the ball into their own teams players while they’re offside doesn’t count as an offside.

Yeah I agree with this. I love that these knock ons are in the game, it gives a bit of unpredictability to outcomes so makes every game feel different and tense as you might not be able to auto complete a set.

At the moment though I have seen in replays balls coming off the head and even foot being called as knock ons. Again, if this was once in a blue moon I wouldn’t mind, would be like a bad ref call which I guess sometimes happens. It happens quite regularly atm though.

Also noted, if when going to kick you do not move the LS at all until the kicker has the ball and you first hold down LT, you can aim and get away your kick without the defenders touching you. They do not seem to engage you at all unless you are running at the try line. Having time to get kicks away is good but this is a little too easy.

On the 5th at least the markers should be pouring through on the ball carrier at least to apply pressure.

*Please do not make the kicker auto run at the line like R25 it is horrible, but adjust the markers to auto engage the ball on the 5th every time and not sit back.

Noticed an issue in stadium creation with the signboards. They have them flipped upside down in one part of the stadium.

No update last night. Played an NRL game 80 minutes on pro mode.
Way less intercepts which was good.
There appears to be a bug though that in certain parts of the field the AI deliberately kick into the feet of the opposition and the opposition player is ruled to have knocked on which gives the AI team another set.
I lead 18 - 16 at half time and the match report shows one of the tries being scored in the 42 minute. I ended up winning 42 to 26 and the last try was recorded as being scored in the 82nd minute. The Sexton try was also scored in the 36th minute not the 39th. Something the developers can look at i suppose. Attached is the full time match report. At least the winning side had man of the match unlike my loss on vintage mode where i scored 7 tries and the AI scored 12 and my team got man of the match. Hopefully we get a big update this week.
The other pleasing thing is there are no more outrageous scores to the AI generated games when you play a comp.
One other thing to add if you have 90 sets in a game and every set is 6 tackles that makes 540 tackles not 753 as is shown on the match report. Also 219 missed tackles is a bit steep for the opposition. For that to have happened I expect the score would have been well over 100. I’m not that good…hahahaha
