Commentary Languages

With the budget you problaby nacon gave, i’m not expecting nothing more than just English and French commentary being implemented.
But rugby is a growing sport, and it is becoming global.
Is there any possibility to introduce any other languages?
Like Spanish and italian?

I would pay to have Antonio Raimondi e Vittorio Munari as commentary in the game.

If you’re adding commentary but don’t have a budget to hire anyone then you could always add sign language. I’m sure that’ll be a real hit.

I think as well as English and French, they should add Australian.

Edit: Fair Dinkum!

Part of me feels like some Afrikaans might be in order.

Some of us refer to watching mauls as 5 hours of our lives we’ll never get back…

I concur with the forementioned opinion.

We need isiXhoza with English subtitles in the voice of Kaunda Ntunja. I would love to learn Xhosa to watch all my sports commentary in Xhosa.

If we’re talking commentary it sucks and it’s generic with little hope.

If you could pick a commentary team that’d be a dream come true.

There’s a YouTube content creator with great commentary called Kiwi Lads that’d be humble or many other known commentary teams including other spoken languages. But that’s a big wish. Definitely seems like a big ask.

I listened to couple of his streams and I will rather have him do a full range of commentary on the game than having two mainstream commentators but it is implemented like Rugby 22. Rugby 08 had better commentary than Rugby 22 which is such a shame that the later version digressed.

It felt as if Rugby 22 needed a few more parches and it would have been a great game.

Actually a better solution is an easy way to add custom commentary. TheRugbyForum team can mobilise great modded content.

I like this games commentary, far better than others before it. If they can just fix the situational awareness and timing of it throughout the match.

Random amateurs in commentary don’t match up with a fully licensed game imo. If you are going to go all in, then do it in the commentary as well.

Ive been enjoying R25 commentary, but agree situational awareness is the issue. Hoping theres far more commentary lines in the full release.
There are also a couple of lines that feel too long for the commentators to sound natural. They start out well, but after a while begin to sounds like they are reading a piece of paper with words on it rather than giving their own thoughts. They are sports commentators rather than voice actors so understandable if the lines are too long for them to memorize.
Personally I think a better way could be to just simply record the commentators commentating over a series of actual games of rugby.
Play the matches in the studio with only the pitch audio and let them do their job. Then the BigAnt sound team can pick apart whats been said and fit it to the game. That way the lines are delivered by the commentary team just being themselves in their day job and will feel much more real, rather than reading a script in a recording booth.
Obviously things like players names and scores could be written down to read out. But for the bulk of ingame thoughts I think it would be more engrossing for the player.
