Happened to me the other day on my career player on a test game. Seem my comments a few days ago.
Yeah this happens to me too.
I’d still like it to work that we could take the catches ourselves with the catch mechanism, but yeah I agree that they seem to be having real trouble implementing a working method.
Maybe they could get rid of moving the indicator into the circle for slips and keeper, whether bowled from a spinner or pace bowler and just make it that those catches are about hitting the right button (Triangle, Square, Circle or X) in time when the circle turns green or something. It maybe easier, as they seem to be really struggling with the much shorter time and distance involved with these types of catches. They’ve had issues in this area with other Cricket games in the past, but not this much!

Tap and run has completely vanished now. AI is not taking any single inside circle now.
-
AI still not taking singles even when the ball goes into the deep and it’s easily available. It’s just random sometimes they run and sometimes they don’t.
-
AI’s chasing in T20s is not good. Most of the times it feels like AI realise very late that it has to attack. AI keeps bottling chase. It also feels like in chasing some predetermined script runs that makes AI lose somehow even when they get in winning positions.
-
Doubles are still very rare. AI is not able to convert singles into doubles.
All these bugs I have noticed in T20s after playing around 5 matches.
Do you have to use the circle?. Is there an option to just have it caught automatically and a slider determines success rate?.
Yes, there is automatic fielding, but I’m on semi assisted. I’ve heard the argument from many, many players “Just play it on automatic fielding”. I want to take my own catches like it’s some sort of game playing skill, even if in a very basic way.
For me, making catches automatic (or not playing the fielding aspects of the game) isn’t a game anymore, it’s a manager style aspect to the game.
If it just came down to a slider and me just sitting there hoping the chance gets taken by what’s basically a random number generator based on a players skill rating, then I’d rather not play the game.
Cricket isn’t just batting and bowling, although they are the most fun parts. We’ve all seen some amazing pieces of fielding and catching on TV for decades now. Steve Waugh, Jonty Rhodes or nowadays Glenn Phillips taking unbelievable screamers. Should be fun to pull off in a game right? Or instead watching and hoping the AI decides to catch it for you?
In my opinion, Fielding could be about us as players not just taking a catch or fielding well in the game, but also making the fielder dive in the direction of the ball and relatively precisely timing the catch. Or whipping a throw in precisely and knocking over the stumps with a thrilling direct hit!
If done well it could be great, but Big Ant just can not do semi-assisted or manual fielding well at all. Their obsession with SLOW DOWWWWWWWN is unneccessary for all but wicketkeeper and slips catches. Those could temporarily slow down and have NO MOVING RETICLE. Just a flash of the right button to push for the catch and the User must respond quickly based on difficulty level and player skill. They’ve shown us time and again that they can’t implement a full moving reticle game properly for Keeper and slips.
Outfield catches should be a matter of pulling your selected player towards the catching area, then (with NO slow down) pushing the catch button at the right time when an icon temporarily comes up over the fielder. If late to the catching area, a dive could be initiated with a dive button followed by that same catch button.
Tap back is something which finally seems to be working mostly okay now, so that could be similar to how it is.
Now fielding (as in stopping the ball and throwing it back in). This is working alright now, but what’s with the meter at the bottom? It’s doing very little and has little to no bearing on what the result of the throw is. When throwing in, you sometimes select L1 for keepers end and it’ll throw to the bowler and vice-versa. I don’t feel like fielding is a properly implemented aspect of the game. How hard would it be to examine the way a basketball game works out what’s going to be an excellent 3 point shot that goes in and implement that for direct hit accuracy in Cricket?
Also, why not simply have the player choose the end and either go for a direct hit or throw to the bowler or keeper (as it currently is), but have that existing meter turn into an accuracy game where if you hit a highlighted target area relatively small you can hit the stumps. At the moment I can hit that supposed accuracy section of the bar and it does nothing different.
To be honest there is too much broken with fielding still. Right now I had a game on semi-assisted with my wife tonight where she had three times where I was bowling spin and the moment she input her shot (before it even had time to play out on screen!!!) then all of a sudden up came the catching circle for me and (once again) her player hadn’t even played the shot yet! It was absurd! What made it worse??? I couldn’t even move anything into the circle, it was just greyed out, until it suddenly sped up and I had zero time and dropped the catch!
I really think they seem to want everyone to just move to automatic, but to that I say, how about automatic batting and bowling? Let’s go full manager with this thing and pretend we’re actually playing as the players?
Sorry Radman, but my reply to you turned into a full on reply to Big Ant! Every patch that comes out raises my hopes and every time they’re dashed with rubbish instances of bizarre fielding!!!
The tap-backs as I’ve said have improved a lot and there are some actual good ones now that have made me pretty happy when they’ve come off, so thank you. Now please, please play some more single and 2 player semi-assisted and see what’s still going wrong in a big way!!!
Hey man I feel your frustration. I’m dealing with it myself with RL26 lol.
On the plus side, I think caught and bowled is now fixed?! Seems to work again!
Another update with still no stamina fix….how long has this been an issue now?
Slips and WK also not fixed, can’t catch a cold.
My wk taken 5 catches now in a game currently playing. And my 2nd slip took a catch too
What settings do you have on? I just recorded an over on my phone as it was Tailenders so more chance for edges. Got 3 edges…WK nor Slips didn’t even react. Zipped by them, about 6 inches away from them.
Is this on auto fielding, semi assisted or manual fielding?
As some of us who are talking about the errors that are happening are talking about semi assisted or manual fielding.
Yes this is on automatically fielding.
There are errors in semi-assisted, close in catching is very much broken for spinners, especially with keeper, where the mechanism starts even before the ball has landed & AI hasn’t edged it, no matter how much you tap the button, keeper still drops it, I don’t know with seamers coz the mechanism just doesn’t get triggered ball goes between keeper & 2nd slip, previously keeper or slip would dive to take that catch, this was never the problem in any of past games, that’s why I said it was better that wicket keeper catches from spinners should happen automatically, for pacers the slowdown with circle was good just like the previous games
some of those recent updates has broken every single aspect of fielding, some got fixed like throwing & outfield catching with new animations, but catches of the edge was never broken also got ruined
@MattW please adjust AI run chase skill. Still they do not go for 2s and 3s. They dont even know when to attack. One more thing to be dreamt of, player auction in ipl. What to say?
@MattW After the latest update, most of the previous issues seem to be fixed, which is great.
However, there’s still one problem I’ve noticed in local multiplayer when playing with two players on the same team.
Even if we select manual fielding settings, the second player is not able to control any fielder. Only one player gets control, while the other is completely inactive during fielding.
This makes co-op fielding feel incomplete, especially since both players should ideally be able to participate.
Would be great if this could be looked into, as it affects the overall multiplayer experience.
True bro AI was chasing targets before these latest patches that came. Somehow it broke the AI and now they just can’t chase. They don’t even take singles sometimes and 2s are also very rare. I just hope they listen to us and improve this.
Do we know the date the Iceland team is coming
Great job guys a.i. is playing much better and chasing too. Please do improve on this build. Please follow planet cricket and beware of frauds.
The last patch is impressive in lots of areas. However as reported by others semi-assisted fielding has issues especially behind the stumps with the mini catch game. The catch circle can appear before the ball has bounced and is “stuck”. WK dropping 100% spin edges although have seen on more than one occasion the ball coming off the WK gloves and the slip making the catch. Can this be looked at please guys
Feel like we have the same issues ![]()
