Do OVR ratings matter in the game? Is this normal?

I beat Federer (87 OVR) in a charity match with my brand new career player (43 OVR). I usually SIM the charity matches and my AI always loses but I tried to play it. Managed to get a win…

I thought it was my custom sliders nerfing the AI more than normal. So I changed the difficulty to Expert and went to play Sharapova (83 OVR) charity event. Also beat her. Is the game difficulty in general skewed toward the player? Or do the overall ratings don’t matter - if a 43 OVR can beat these legends of the game? I don’t think I’m a super good gamer either (I’m 0-4 in online matches so far).

Accompanying also the SIM trends in tournaments - all the top seeds lose often to no-name players or unseeded early in the tournament. Has anyone done any testing for this? Is it similar in other Big Ant games? Is it more likely to lose playing longer matches and not just a 10 point tiebreak?

I increased the difficulty to Legendary and still beat Danielle Collins. There are definitely points I lose (my sprint is really slow so I cant get to every ball after a while) and she definitely wrong foots me sometime… but it’s still a win, although it’s the closest win compared to others.

Also posting the stats when I automated SIM charity match vs Eubanks

Here is vs Collins on Legendary:

Versus Eubanks (all SIM, no human playing). Absolute slaughter from AI Eubanks on the SIM. If I played manually I probably win… Still the same 43 OVR player
