Kit clashes for onine are are horrible. Can it be introduced to avoid kit clashes? Either when playing as the same team or teams with similar colours…
Just played the minor update, as always there are improvements and stability has been fine on all games played so far. Won’t go into too much detail as I know others are covering in extensive detail.
Big items that need fixing and have done for a while are the line out and defence.
Line out
- Unable to choose number of jumpers, automatically defaults to 7
- Players freezing after lineout
- Needs to have abilities to collapse a maul
- Bit of a non-event, can’t compete and it is over too quickly
- Forward ball (pick and go)
Defence
- defending a maul, the players in the back line run back and away and expose a huge gap, super easy to exploit as a player and be expolited by AI
- last man defending / line break defending, too easy for attackers to shrug off and defenders reaction time very slow
- defensive line is messy and erratic. EA2 (I think) had very good defensive lines in comparison to current
Other
- Tries being scored and counting as dead ball
- Newcastle Stadium has transparent roof (see on opening sequence when players run out)
- lighting issue for players on team select stage
- need to have option to select a nominated team for the competitions, current method of cherry picking which games to play is detrimental to game immersion
All the design work, stadiums, teams, sponsors, etc. are all cracking
Hi BA,
Just quickly, fantastic interim update. By far the best yet and congratulations to all the team for making it happen.
I will do proper feedback when I have had some more game time but for now, I just wanted to raise an issue where I cannot connect to online play unless I use a VPN. The frustrating thing is I use a VPN to place myself in the country I am already in. I believe it is likely to do with geofencing?
Is there some way I could get my game/connection checked?
Thanks in advance.
Hi what’s the new update for
hi the team. Thanks for the update but my game still crash when its the half time and i saw Mad Dragon could be play a full match !
What was the patch today done for? Hope they fixed the tackling issue its a bit gamebreaking.
I have noticed that manual pass markers above players are not correctly placed for ratios other than 16:9. I think it is an easy fix to implement.
Here is a screnshot showing the misplaced markers for 21:9 vs 16:9
FOV had no effect on the marker placement
I like the fluidity of online regardless of the ping, the new lighting in the team selection and player creator, and the improvements to the running animation.
But can’t believe that the current game is 80 Gb. Unless there is content that has not yet been displayed, there is nothing to justify that size and it may indicate serious optimization problems.
Hi everybody I did several tests regarding the random crash or half-time crash problem. I checked and tested everything and it is a problem related to the latest Windows updates that should not be installed. What I did is that I reinstalled Windows 11 with an iso and I blocked all updates and no more crashes. If it can help you and help the Big Ant team, @JNT_BA @MattW it is with pleasure.
Awesome thanks for that. I was actually just reading the MS report about what was happening with the Ubisoft titles. I’ll get the support team to check in with those effected if they’re on 11.
There is lots of things there that you can’t see quite yet.
Good stuff. Just had my first game and my first online game since the update dropped. This is so awesome. Still some work to do but there is rugby happening boys. Loving the new sounds, voices and the atmosphere. The new running animations look so much better.
Online play was fun. Got absolutely smashed but was fun to play a human and not the ai. Kit clashes needs sorting as twice threw the ball to the opposition thinking it was one of my team. Can still feel a bit repetitive on the rucks.
Really impressed with how this is shaping up now. Fantastic work everyone at Big Ant Studios
I am the only person who can’t win rucks? I’ve flagged this a number of times, I thought it was sorted a few patches ago but then it went back to the way it is now.
It’s impossible to steal, and if I lose the ball the opposition can end up retaining for a whole half (unless I tackle them back far enough and decided to kick)
Best way is just to spam stealing button than you will get the random steals to add players or contest tackle doesn’t make a difference at all.
@JNT_BA @MattW can you guys maybe let us know if you guys are working on improving or changing the rucks or are we just going to get passing improvements because I feel majority people are pretty fine with passing but not really happy with the rucking and it’s been 5EA’s we been complaining about it but seen nothing really about it?
Thank you for fixing the lineouts Big Ant! The quick throw option finally didnt crash my game again lol. A few more aspects I feel that should be touched on are:
Rucks
- There shouldn’t HAVE to be 3 players to be in the ruck (if that makes sense?) The players close enough should just get in there straight away to create opportunities to jackal/steal the ball straight away, especially if it’s a 1v1 situation. I feel like you could just get rid of the whole Y, B and X button assignments and just choose either button to form the ruck and also win it, like RWC 2011 had X/Square as the main rucking button.
Mauls
- Mauling has improved a lot, but the defensive line running to the opposite side of the field just ruins it for me. I know you guys are already working on fixing that so no need to keep pushing it upon y’all
Tackling
- The tackling isn’t BAD BAD, but once the opponent gets a certain fend animation or pass animation, it’s almost impossible to tackle them as they literally just faze through the defender lol. Again I know y’all are working on it so I’m gonna leave it at that
Scrums
- Honestly it maybe a skill issue on my end, but I’ve yet to win a scrum on the defending side. It feels too quick in a sense? Idk, could just be me but if you could slow down the hooking part to give a proper chance to fight it.
Custom Teams
- I created a custom All Blacks team, even bothered making the people but when I go to use it, my game crashes. I haven’t seen anyone talk about custom teams so I’m guessing I’m one of the few that’s bought this upon yous. Please fix this, I want to use my AB’s since who knows when they’ll get added into the game itself.
Competitions
- If you were able to add more people in the crowd when it reaches the later stages of the competition (QF,SF,GF) that would be a great feature as the finals feel like a normal round game. Oh, and also a trophy to lift at the end of the GF, something like what you had in LL4 when a team won the RLWC final or the Premiership. Please consider these.
QUESTIONS
-
Will Super Rugby make an appearance in the game? And the Japanese competition?
-
When will majority of the teams receive their real names?
-
Will All Blacks have both haka’s in the game? Giving us the option to choose which one to use?
-
PLEASE ADD RICHIE MO’UNGA
thanks
Hi JNT and Big Ant Team,
First off, thank you for delivering such an excellent interim patch—this is the best update so far! The game continues to evolve in exciting ways, and each new addition provides valuable insights into what the final product might look like. The visuals are stunning in many areas, and the gameplay feels fantastic in parts.
It’s easy to overlook the hard work being done when the focus is often on finding issues to address, so I want to take a moment to express my appreciation. If the game maintains its current trajectory, I don’t see any other rugby title coming close to this one. Thank you for giving Rugby Union the attention it deserves!
Please find my feedback below
Added First Pass of Online Quick Match
Patch Note: “The first pass of EA Online quick match play with 5-minute halves utilizing any of the Early Access teams.”
Feedback: Online play is fun even in its current state with no laws and several bugs. However, there are significant synchronization issues between players. For example, one player might see their opponent pass the ball into touch and expect a lineout, while the opponent sees themselves running the ball in for a try. The defender’s view only catches up when the attacker provides another input, such as a pass, kick, or grounding the try. This desynchronization disrupts gameplay and needs urgent attention.
Added Camera Field of View Slider
Patch Note: “Adjustment of the field of view for the gameplay camera has been added to the settings menu, allowing the gameplay camera to be zoomed in or out from the default.”
Feedback: This is a fantastic addition! The ability to zoom in for a player-focused view or zoom out for a tactical overview of the field adds great versatility. To enhance this further, adding controls to adjust height and distance angles separately, as well as incremental rotation of the camera, would allow players to create their perfect camera setup.
Added Offside Line Options
Patch Note: “Added a setting to disable the display of the offside line or player indicators.”
Feedback: Thank you for including this feature! Disabling these indicators greatly improves immersion. If possible, applying the same option to the ruck bar would further enhance the experience for players seeking a cleaner visual environment.
Improved Lineouts
Patch Note: “Removed occurrences of a lineout ending with player tackles instead of a maul being formed.”
Feedback: Lineout mechanics are noticeably better. Expanding on this to add more competitive elements would be a great next step. For example, allowing defenders to use the right stick (RS) as their inside arm to disrupt or intercept the throw would bring more depth and strategic options to this phase of play.
Improved Animation
Patch Note: “Further gameplay animation has been added, both for gameplay and various cut scenes.”
Feedback: The new animations are excellent and add to the game’s realism. I really like the improvements made to the running animations, much more fluid and the body tilt on changing direction is a great touch. However, I’ve noticed one animation that looks unnatural—specifically, the second tackler swinging around the legs of a player moves unnaturally fast. Slowing this down to create a more realistic motion would significantly improve the overall feel. I’ll provide a gif or image when I encounter it again for reference.
Improved UI
Patch Note: “The flow of the UI has improved in some areas and changed to prepare for future features. Resolved issue with missing setting for sock height.”
Feedback: The new UI changes are very effective. The backlit players during team selection create a dramatic and professional feel, and the screens with share codes for created players are a great touch. This is edging toward FIFA/Madden-level polish, which is exciting to see! And, of course, being able to adjust sock height is always appreciated by the avid GripSock fans.
General Stability Improvements
Patch Note: “A number of improvements to gameplay stability have been included in this update.”
Feedback: Gameplay stability was already good for me prior to this patch, but I’m glad to see crashes while editing commentary names for teams or players have been addressed. However, there is a persistent issue with created teams: the game crashes every time I score with any created team, despite creating, editing, deleting, and recreating these teams. This requires urgent resolution, as it makes created teams unusable.
Thanks again for the work so far, looking forward to the Major patch!

Hello Team!
I’ve played now 5 or 6 games ONLINE,
And i’ve to say that is quite enjoyable.
It’s fairly stable, the delay (in good scenarios) isn’t noticable and generally it’s fun.
I would like to point out some things that ruin the experience online.
●It seems like that the defenders cannot tackle if they run behid the ball carrier.
●The defence line seems to leave to much space and do not bring any pressure since most players i played online use the “Run side ways to get always a gap on the defence”
●I don’t know if its me but i had a lot (a lotttt) of random frame drop (this happend also on single player) i drop to 5/6 from 60/80.
●Maul defence is bad.
●Scrum decence is also bad… the flankers don’t so their job.
●Random offside calls. Numbers of occasion where the attacking side got an offside call for no reason at all.
○(For single player) Seems like that the Cutscenes for celebrations on the finals is missing.
Edit:
●Seems also not possible to change the number of player in the Line out both Online and offline.
Another edit because i’m stupid and forget things:
●The ruck system is still to much simple, especially Online there are NOT ways to turn over the ball, unless you wait for the random CounterRuck or handling mistake by the offence team.
Thanks so much for the hard work put in, the game is becoming very fun and good looking hope for the next updates to bring more and correct all the problematic.

the game is starting to be very good. For me the passing game is on point. the new run system with better inertia is excellent. The graphics are very beautiful. the kicking game is good overall. On the other hand, I still have this problem of crashing at each half of each match. The addition of the tactics system will make the game even more realistic. For me, the big work that remains to be done is on the ruck. we must at all costs review the ruck system because it is a very important part of rugby which cannot be neglected
If the ruck system is modified we will have, for me, the best rugby game ever released. can you tell us if super rugby will be in the big update at the end of the month? thank you for the work, keep it up, you are on the right path.
Hello to you,
I found what was causing the game to crash every half-time. The Windows 24H2 update causes a lot of games to crash, including Rugby 25. The only solution is to reinstall Windows with an .ISO unfortunately and not do the Windows updates (only do the security updates)
would this resolve the game crashing when a custom team scores a try?
