Pre Launch Megathread

What I’m excited / happy about is the base on which they are able to build 26 on would have to be far greater than what they built 23 on.

So much learning will have been done in the past 2 years.

I’m happy calling it an update for now… I’m not being non-civil about it… just expressing my opinion… nothing wrong with that!

Once the game is out and actually successful I’ll happily change my mind on it. Bit hard to think positively of it after last time

Injuries already existed in management mode HOWEVER it needs to be called out much better this time around, with like a mail box system.

Think you will also find suspensions not being in the game comes from a higher place than Big Ant.

I think if AFL26 is an update of AFL23, I think that is what we all hoped would occur. The question is how significant the update is?

Yep… hence why referring to the game as an update is in no way wrong (or a joke)!

TBH the game can only get better, if it got worse I’d be surprised!

3-4 year re build done in one season ! I like the sound of that :joy:

agreed just cant wait for a trailer or sneak peek to see if enough is different specifically better hopefully since theyve had time to build off afl23 instead of from scratch so id like to think they can make significant improvements

Yea ok… haven’t noticed. But yea it should be announced more and there should be management options for injuries etc.

Injuries did exist to management mode however only ever to the reserves players. The reason why I want more regular injuries is to force me to make changes to the senior team lineup. Keeps a season mode feeling fresh each round, not just 23 games using the exact same team with no variation. Without forced changes, makes playing a season boring very quickly.

Would be great for season mode (24 rounds + finals) to feel more like a journey through the season, ups, downs, injury challenges, special feel to prime time, special round events. Special cut scenes for indigenous, anzac, opening round. Official AFL Ladder, Brownlow Medal and Coleman medal leaderboards. AFL23 season mode had none of this and felt very bland.

If Josh Smillie keeps growing I’m chucking him in the ruck..

I also hope there is improved interchange AI so players coming on and off go into relevant positions.

I found myself turning auto interchanges off and just playing with the same players for 4 quarters as the interchange AI threw the team balance out of whack too much.

Overall i found AFL23 pretty good to play and well balanced, only thing that stood out for me was tackle reaction with change in possession but i did have slider value tuned down too. So with AFL26 I am interested in the “feel” of the gameplay and how intuitive the AI and user inputs can be. Bigant must be very confident in release build with no early access process, the Bigant team has been very busy with this , Rugby 25 and the most aweful kept secret Rugby League 26. I will purchase, havent had an underwhelming game from them yet ! Well RLL1 was a little underwhelming…hope AFL26 delivers.

Same. And further to that I found the “on-the-fly” interchange system not as good as AFL Live 1’s.

I hope there’s a massive emphasis with online, spectator mode, multi console online play, custom teams online and hopefully the ability to change guernsey numbers - DUPLICATES keep me up at night

Let’s talk new bumping system and new marking system, what would we like to see without being too unrealistic?
