Rugby 25 Megathread

I’m not too worried. Gameplay is at an acceptable level. The fact im not challenged by the AI is a much bigger issue for me.

It’s definitely not perfect, but much improved since launch. Those things that you’re talking about are easy fixes, but yes are clearly issues. For me, personally, i can deal with those things at the moment until they fix those issues. But when im selecting the lowest rated team to control on the hardest difficulty level, and still winning by 50 points? That takes the enjoyment out of the game straight away. I’ve gone back to Rugby 08 now. Hopefully in another 12 months this game will be sorted. Im not confident though.

@JNT_BA was some attention given to custom tournaments? Perhaps some more formats that we could use? Perhaps a format where we could choose the amount of pools and how many teams advance to a knockout stage? And of course a pure knockout tournament? Also, the ability to name that tournament please. And, if possible, could we have more than 20 teams join a tournament? I would love nothing more than to be able to create a “Champion’s League” style tournament with all the clubs from The URC, Gallaghar Premiership, Superugby, and Top 14.

You guys are talking so much sense that I actually have to use my big boy brain to read your comments today :joy:

Spot on Val, people will always have a different expectation of this game and I believe it has a lot to do with your past experiences. I personally believe that Rugby 08 is still the best representation of what a rugby game should be and I did not enjoy the Rugby Challenge series at all, but I realise there are people who feel differently and that’s okay.

I also know that no matter what state this game is in we will always come back and give more opinions and remarks on the game because we all want, no need it to be a good game. I have this forum open as a permanent tab on my laptop, I want to read everything and hear what other people has to say and because I would love for this game to be good and I am sure that the Big Ant team would also love nothing more than to give us just that.

They could have called it a day and cut their losses but they haven’t and no matter how frustrated you get, you have to respect that.

No problem. It’s completely fine. I think we’re both just frustrated this game isn’t the product it should be. Acceptable is probably a stretch. There’s a lot I actually like about the game and i feel if they got things right, it could be a very good game, and i do appreciate their attempts to fix things. Game play definitely needs attention, i agree. Being held up over the line and they never check try or no try…always held up is something that needs attention. How they don’t notice this? Im not sure lol. Player names under the players would be great too. Amongst many other things that need attention. I just wish the AI was better, smarter. Like if I’m playing on hardest, i expect that playing on that difficulty level will take months of work and practice before im winning on a regular basis. I’m hopeful this next update has stuff for both of us…fingers crossed

@JNT_BA how do you dive tackle on PS5
And More AI getting yellow cards for too many offsides would be good or a red card for a dangerous tackle

It’s not really resistance but something else hidden that is a deep dark secret. Basically the longer a match is the lower ovr teams get fatigued fast and can get mowed down.

@Jnt_Ba Will Virgin Media park/stadium be available to add as a new stadium to teams in men’s modes
And will the career mode national squad sizes allow you to select 38 or more players or even a minimum of 30 and a max of 50. And will the international friendlies fixtures be more realistic Fixture like Ireland v South Africa, new Zealand,Fiji Argentina etc and also having an international window in early July aswell

Left footed kickers fixed & stade de France champions cup Bug being fixed

A reply would mean a lot just to let me know those issues will be fixed for Friday because there small and simple fixes
Thanks

I never said I liked it. I’m just telling them how to get the achievement.
You need the time to get enough hits to get a warning and a yellow.

It is the same for the results of simulated games: 10 Min half time simulated games have more realistic results than 5 Min half times games for example. That’s weird

JNT has the power to change everything now. Well I hope so at least lol

Hi @JNT_BA

Having watched a video this morning of Rugby League 26 (I know not the final version) I’ve made some observations of things I think could be transferred over to R25

  1. General lighting in stadiums. Lighting in game looks so much brighter than in R25. Look at the teams running out at AAMI park in RL26. Everything is bright and vibrant including the grass while R25 just feels dull in comparison
  2. Run on camera angle: in RL26 we get great high shots of the players running on to the field and taking their positions. Don’t think I’ve seen this in R25. It just adds a bit to the atmosphere
  3. Attacking Lines: having watched RL26 these just look and play so much better than R25. I appreciate that running lines in Union are very different to League however I think you have the foundations of a good system at least to adapt as backline moves. The lines on the ground really help to show where the players are going to run and also support runners actually start running at the right moments to be in the right place for the next pass
  4. Defensive lines: example is at minutes 2:57-3:04, however this is the same throughout the game. When the tackle is made in RL26 the players retreat properly (by back pedalling) and form up in a line with proper spacing and generally marking opponents opposite them. When the ball is passed out (minute 3:03) they move up in a line keeping to their position and width. Something I liked was when the opposition passed the ball, the 2 defenders react to that pass by turning to the receiver (3:03 to 3:04). It’s showing some proper AI intelligence that I’ve not seen this during R25
  5. AI attacking intent: between 3:08-3:16 the AI identifies that they have an overlap on the blindside. They make two passes and run 20m before being tackled. Again I don’t see this sort of attacking intelligence in R25 as much
  6. AI dropping into the pocket to kick: at 3:39 the AI are at 5th tackle. They know they have to kick as it’s 5th tackle. The ball is passed to a player deep who is able to kick. It would be great to see similar intelligence in R25 where the team know they are in their 22 so need to drop a player back and kick. Currently the AI don’t use any sort of pocket move to give themselves room to kick
  7. Sidesteps: not sure what has happened to the sidestep in R25 but it’s ineffective. A number of occasions (minutes 3:47, 9:02, 9:08) I saw sidesteps that beat the AI defender and meant the human player could keep going. What was nice was there was then a good animation of the defender missing the tackle by either diving and missing or being planted to the ground. Can we just get this step animation and missed tackle animations in R25. The human player was also able to make multiple steps in a row as evident by performing one at 9:02 and then at 9:08. Haven’t seen the ability to do that since Early Access. Finally on this there was one play between 9:39 and 9:44 where the human player on the wing stepped his opposite number, slipped out of the next tackle and then was able to score. This was all between the 10 and the try line. This just looked so much smoother than the animations in R25
  8. Conversions: having seen the mechanism used in RL26 would it be possible just to get this instead of the one in R25. I really like how the meter builds up the longer you pull back and then when you push it forward you get feedback on the direction you pushed it forward. The direction of the kick is clearly influenced by this movement

Hopefully some of this can be implemented/transferred over as I think it will help improve the game. Cheers
