Gonna reply to myself. Because I now have new views after the mechanic for some reason completely fixing itself. I dont know whats happenned, but after restarting the game, it seems to be working as im sure the devs intended.

So now, when i perform up and unders the graphic appears ont he ground, and the white arrows move arouns the arches. Then you tap Y or A when the arrow gets to the green section, and if you are further in to the green section than your opponent, you beat the opponent.

There are still issues. It seems to not always require me to position my player at all, aslong as you get the QTE correct, you seem to just collect the ball as long as you are near the graphic onscreen, and even if not, an AI will run in to interact with the ball with whatever option you pick.
The blue bar also now feels a bit pointless, because the arrow does the job of the blue bar anyway. So could just remove one or the other and have them do the same thing.
Lack of situation on pitch effecting the QTE, means turning off the UI for contested catches feels damaging. Becuase without it on the screen you have no idea when to time the input, as the input timing isnt reflected by the players positioning on the pitch or in relation to the ball. So at the minute playing without the UI onscreen doesnt feel like awareness and skill, but just luck.
But with it working properly, it does actually work well. I would just love to know why it suddenly fixed itself after a restart and why it was broken all day.
Still a couple of other gripes.
After tapping the ball back, there seems to be a 3-4 second delay on being able to switch players in order to pick up the now loose bouncing ball. Meaning AI can just swoop in an pick it up, if your AI dont get it.
The option of ā€œAā€ is a bad button option and should be switched. Because after performing a kick, your player selection is stuck with the kicker. So you have to press ā€œAā€ to swap player in order to chase the kick. But pressing the A button locks in the QTE in the same action on the arrow. So causes you to lose the catch.

Also an odd inconsistency with QTE ending in collecting the ball. Sometimes you can arrive late to the catch do a rubbish QTE press and the AI does a good one, and for some reason you still catch it. Might be good it a bad QTE or arrive late to the catch, that you actually have a ā€œbad contestā€ and take the player out in the air, resulting in a penalty for the other team? Forcing you to improve your posistioning, or just not engage with that specific catch at all, otherwise forfeiting a penalty.

Well, weirdly, I’m kinda positive with this patch, it looks globally smoother compared to 3 weeks ago on my side.

So similar to Bapean I’m finding the general smoothness a lot better. Animations just seem to be clicking together better now. Feels like fend, bump offs and sidestep animations are happening a little more now. On the sidesteps I’d still like to see the step and missed tackle step animations from RL26 and on bumps and fends a few more loose tackles with the players slipping off than being full on throw back.

As for the new catching mechanics, I’m both enjoying them and finding them frustrating. I think the frustration has come from not having a guide or tutorial on how they work as well as the fact that the AI defensive line speed is just far too quick for the kicking mechanics/animations to play out (fingers crossed changes to the defensive line in a few weeks changes this). I noticed a number of instances where I try to punt and build up the power and then player sort of stands still for a few seconds before the kicking animation starts. Please can we also sort out the pocket player running forward.

@JNT_BA can we also please get the quick kick/tap and go from the mark. It was a bit clunky but I liked that the AI would try to catch you out with a quick kick. Now we get a proper stop in play and the AI just kick to the sidelines. Maybe it can be a decision to kick/tap immediately or slow play down and have the stop in play

I’ll check with the guys on Monday.

Played some more matches and found some problem that weren’t there before or got worst.

On Mark, Ai treats it like a line out kick, so always goes toward touch. Not completely wrong but also not always really the best option.

Ball get loose more often and bouce too fast.

Offside call are getting more aggressively. The real problem here is that some late offload from tackle triggers the formation of offside line even if no ruck are formed.
Also offside is called when ever are offside even thou they don’t, in anycase or formn, interfere with ball carrier.

Ball get stuck in mauls.
Also engaging player is bugged,
Probably for the same problem below.

Sometimes on rucks or mauls i can’t pass the ball when i run with the 9 cause the Right Trigger i use to run also triggers the ā€œright forward passā€
As i said some months ago… @JNT_BA please remove RT/LT passing, they just cause a lot of troubles and i think is the reason why mauls get stuck a lot of times.

Player not always get pre engaged for a Ruck. So there some issue that prevents to pre engaded pressing B, not sure why but this always result in a ruck no longer contestable.

Graphics look juddery and edges look bad on PS5 Side view. Tested with Ireland vs Scotland at Ireland Home ground. The kicking has a different arc slightly, but no more power and is still as awkward as all hell to get away. Really disappointed in that. Slight changes to Side view camera are mostly for the better, that’s one good thing I suppose.

Overall the patch has made some things worse and a couple of minor things marginally better. I’ll be back on later for more thoughts on this.

PC steam hardest

This patch is a mixed bag. The AI attacks seem more fluid with more passes and offloads challenging the defence. This is good, however the random offside penalties are incredibly frustrating and for the most part seem completly random. When you end a game (which you have won) with 6 penalites against you and none for the AI there is a serious rebalancing needed.

One of the penalties was for trying to take a quick throw. I am also getting constant penalties directly after stealing the ball. Things like this are unacceptable for a game released months ago!

There is another bug where now trying to tackle someone with Y near the tryline just results in them walking next to the player with no attempt to make a tackle. Again, i’m not sure how this hasnt been picked up.

On the plus side, punting the ball seems easier.

Hi @jnt_ba , just wanted to follow up on a few things I’ve been asking about for a while now. Is there any reason why Virgin Media Park still isn’t available in the men’s modes? It’s something I’ve really been hoping for and would love to see added. Also, I’ve noticed international friendlies fixtures still seem very unrealistic, and all Season 1 Champions Cup games are being played at the Stade de France is that intentional?

If there’s a small patch planned in the next few days to fix a few things, I’d really appreciate if you could fix these especially adding Virgin Media Park to the men’s modes. Thanks again for all the hard work looking forward to hearing from you.ā€

Hi Team,

Patch Feedback. PS5. I haven’t had a lot of time to spend on the game and busy with Lions / Wallabies festivities but wanted to provide some feedback.

  • Momentum now has become more balanced after scoring a Try. No longer does it feel over powering or excessive to the the recent try scoring team. Well done on adjusting this. I think it’s good now.

  • Increasing Squads to 55 players. Great idea. Helps anyone who wants to put additional players in those 50 player teams. Also helps if you want to put an improved version of a certain player while we wait for editing to be unlocked in a future patch.

  • Advertising has appeared for PRO D2. Looks better.

  • Ai has been kicking more in attack. Grubbers, Bombs, kicking for touch. Definitely makes it more challenging to stop Ai attack or their field position gains.

  • Ai attack and defence has improved generally.

  • Bigger text and UI for seeing player positions on screen. Looks great.

I lost my match as Wallabies vs British and Irish Lions. 21-14 on Hardest difficulty. A more realistic outcome. Wallabies 85 overall. Lions 87. So the patch is positive with several changes as listed above.

So thanks very much for the Hard work from everyone at Big Ant. Really appreciate the dedication to keep improving this game and listening to our feedback on important issues.

Pretty sad that rugby league 26 has a pro career and a pro team and we dont even have good gameplay. And we also had to wait so long only to find out we were getting another week of stability. You can’t QUICK tap, you can’t pick and go, there are no set plays, the rucks are an absolute mess, the defensive line doesn’t do anything can we please fix the gameplay. I finaly realised why I spend so long on the creator tools, because you can barely get through a game withought getting frustrated at the gameplay. I honestly just want the best rugby game but still tgere is a lot of work that STILL has to be done.

How can you implement arial feature if punting is still broken. I cannot get a kick away except for box kicking. Punting is not smoother that is a lie.(patch notes)

Scrums still broken - it’s been raised many months ago. Can’t believe we still waiting for this to be fixed.

Rucks - this has gotten worst. Can’t get the ball back.

3 weeks to wait for this.. I get that game development takes time but these things should have been fixed for release. This game needs the same attention that RL26 is getting because it’s nowhere near fun and still broken.

Sorry to add to it then, but I’ve just had AI Australia kick the ball out after the siren when only two points behind (PS5, medium.)

To be honest, it’s the first time I’ve had it happen!

Appreciate its a long list, and this might be how long is a piece of string: but is this a 3 month improvement plan, 6 months, longer? Just to manage expectations for everyone

And do you get days off as you’re here on a Saturday??

Tbf on my side, the kicks are working (punts, up and unders and box kicks). But yeah still the issue of the player in the pocket who goes forward while kicking
