Rugby 25 Megathread

I hope the patch lets you ruck steal and also make sure the ref isnt wearing the same colour as one of the teams.

Ouch!! £10

I’ll say it again. Rugby 25 needs the same attention RL26 is getting because it’s nowhere near completion and still broken.

Yes we did get patch twice a week when game was released but it has hardly progress.

Yes @JNT_BA, my Discord is still light mode :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey @JNT_BA ,

Quick one, do you know if there’s any plan to finally show all players in the Edit Club section? It still says ā€œavailable in future update,ā€ which feels a bit frustrating this far into the game.

Also, on player editing, any idea why some players have adidas boots and others don’t? It seems like all the All Blacks are rocking them… except Will Jordan :eyes::melting_face:. Same with some Munster players. Would be amazing if we could assign adidas boots to our created players too!

Just a few thoughts, let me know if you’ve heard anything about this or if it has been noticed.

Ta, :rugby_football:

I picked up RLL26, and while I don’t care much for league, the game feels good and has some nice mechanics that would make r25 play so much better. Players seem to move more smoothly and it’s great to be able to get punts off. I’m hoping the new r25 update with ā€œlinesā€ makes improvements to player positioning and movement. If it makes the kicker in the pocket stand still to get a kick off, that would be great.

I’m enjoying the aerial contests for kicks in rll26, but I want to say that it doesn’t have the meter that was added for r25. Curious as to why that is different. Or did I just miss it? If rll26 doesn’t have the meter, does it still work the same behind the scenes? I hope it’s possible for the two games to share certain mechanics and animations.

I also hope that pro team for rll26 is a very successful cash cow and it allows for some more resources to be dedicated to r25. Trying to stay optimistic and muster up even more patience.

I agree. I prefer it without the meter. In addition to looking arcadey, I think the whole thing happens too quickly for the meter to be useful. Just timing the catch or tap buttons seems to work well.

I also hate the meters under the feet for kicking in r25.

I want r25 to have the punting distance that rll26 has, but I could do without having to hold the left trigger while punting. Maybe if r25 doesn’t have a button for taunts like rll26, there would never be a need to hold the trigger to differentiate between kicks.

I thought updates were every 3 weeks? Or is this a hot fix today?

Trying hard not to lose interest in the game to be honest. Didn’t play a few patches a while back and have seen some progress in the last few. Guessing today was just good old stability. I like the look of rugby league 26 in comparison and I’m hoping the @JNT_BA can work some magic and make the game fun.

The lines update coming up feels like an important one as it’s just impossible to get much happening at the moment. Will take multiple updates though as have been described to get this to be fun to play. I want to believe and refuse to buy rugby league 26 after being burned on Rugby 25 so far.

Does anyone know what was in today’s Update?
Or has anyone realised any difference

Rucks have been sorted. 10 goes back in the pocket. And there is a few more new features especially when calling the mark.

Have you ever actually had the chance to call a mark? The AI never seems to kick to my 22!

Apart from better scores, I’m not seeing much difference AI v AI when it comes to the ruck.

There are still far too many turnovers and interceptions for my liking. They happen in games sure, but not to the extent whereby I’m seeing 20+ of each per game. I’ve counted them.

Also knock ons still don’t trigger the referee to blow his whistle and give a scrum penalty to the non offending team.

Set pieces I won’t talk about as they clearly need work to correct them. If there is a scrum in the games I’m playing it’s always the team with the put in that wins. Every time!!

Not seeing too many 50/22 attempts which is somewhat more realistic. There you go a positive comment.

Still not seeing many high tackles and I am yet to see a card of any kind in the game since launch. Not seen one at all.

There are also a ton of cosmetic improvements needed such as team stadiums, players actually looking like their correct race, Mens Six Nations advertising and licensing on pitch, post protectors, and ad boards.

A lot of competitions that could be added such as World Cup, Rugby Chanpionship, Currie Cup, European Champions and Challenge Cups.

I know, steady on, gameplay fixes first and foremost :+1:

I think time for the team to probably pull the plug on this one and start from scratch with all the feedback that has been given and make a new rugby game for next year or next World Cup. When there is new idea or mechanic the team wants to test patch it into r25 is possible we can test it out and give feedback. So rugby 25 ends up just being the forever game in EA

I disagree. We didn’t pay full whack just to give feedback for the next version of the game. I believe there’s still a lot they could improve in this game, if they’re prepared to devote the necessary time and resources.

Ross wants to make more rugby union games and we probably need to be realistic here if they want make more next big event is in 2 years with the World Cup, and they might even being working on the next game. Will mean recourses is already taken away, most of they sport games are every 2 years so more time spend on this failed game less time to go full focus on the next game

I take your point, but I think we deserve better than Rugby 25 has delivered so far. As it stands, I’ve spent €60 on a game that I play for maybe an hour after each update before switching off in frustration. If this is as good as the game gets, (and, lest we forget, it was in development for nearly two years before full release), how many people will be prepared to risk being burned again?

I’m with V_V on this one. I like that RL26 doesn’t have a meter. You get a sort’ve dotted line around the area where the ball is coming down (although I have noted it does sometimes bug), then a ring around the player you’re in control of under it. The rest is up to you. Time your jump or tap with X (PS5) and it pretty much always works. Great. Simple.

Also agree with Jtron, I want the punting distance that RL26 has, but without the Left Trigger mechanism. The BS ā€œRisk/Rewardā€ concept the Rugby '25 team are using of: ā€œIf you don’t execute your kick perfectly, you’ll get charged downā€ is FAAAAAAAR too heavily weighted towards risk. The risk should come from a potential turn-over while you set up to pocket kick. No-one I’ve played kicks, even in their 22.

And the pocket player still moves forward, whatever anyone says they think changed in the hotfix. That has to have been stability only. And the pocket player often doesn’t move into pocket!!! I’ve pressed L1+R1 many times for it to go to a player close to the ruck, sometimes a forward! I keep pressing down on the d-pad, and I often see no-one move anywhere! It does not always work!!!

Fix pocket player! Fix pocket players forward movement! Fix kick distance! Forget the risk/reward BS!

Fix pocket player! Fix pocket players forward movement! Fix kick distance! Forget the risk/reward BS!

Fix pocket player! Fix pocket players forward movement! Fix kick distance! Forget the risk/reward BS!

For goodness sake, please finally do it, don’t stuff it up and then see if it’s such a terrible thing to have a relatively easy long clearance kick!

There are other issues I’d rather be banging on about, but this one is the most important in relation to the difference between Rugby Union and Rugby League. Right now League has the more Union kicking distance! I’ve seen the RL26 defence actually turn and chase the ball once or twice, certainly run back for a catch.

It’s been months and damn well months. Make this offload-fest turn in to something more like Rugby Union for goodness sake!

For me they feel like different game engines. The similarities are that you can pass left and right , the skill moves feel different, the tackling feels different, grubbers feel very different, sprinting is different, even bombs feel different,. I would of thought since its the same developer they would feel more alike. Not sure yet , if that’s a good thing or bad thing. Will see where everything is at 6 months from now. Somehow I am enjoying RL26 more at the moment , not sure why because I am a bigger fan or Rugby then Rugby league, even though I enjoy both.
