Ruck ball being stuck issue now fixed.

AI kicking LOTS, sometimes realistically to gain ground, other times not.

AI passing seems even more improved, some lovely natural looking flowing moves I am seeing this morning.

Steam v1.0.3420 Hardest level England AI vs New Zealand AI.

It is slowly getting there…

Just seen patch notes.. they all good but

will support runners ever be fixed. My wing is 5m behind player with ball.

AI keeps beating tackler every single time.

Set pieces needs a complete overall. Scrums and lineouts just don’t work properly.

If "controled movement " will later be introduced, you will feel the difference in AI skill moves succes ratio ,so i hope we will see that feature soon!

@JNT_BA can you please tell us if adding the real players to custom teams will be in the game? If so will it be added anytime soon? The British and Irish lions tour is coming up and I like mamy people want to have tge actual players. Same with the npc.

Talking of support runners, and i am no Rugby expert I am very new to the game, but the AI this morning on latest patch, guy has the ball 20 metres from the try line, about 8 metres in from the left touch line. Support team mate started a curving run from the right side of the player with ball in hand, curved behind him and then up to a position on the left touch line almost, a kind of S shaped run he had made, and it was timed perfectly for the guy with ball in hand to do a natural pass out to him on the left. A try never got scored…but to witness that intelligent S shaped curving run to get into a position out wide on the left to be able to take the pass…I should have recorded it off!!

Dont recall seeing that kind of intelligent movement in previous iterations of Rugby 25 as yet.

Man o man, the hand- & bump offs are so unrealistic on the first tackle, it should be a +/-30% success rate. It so predictable, because you know the AI is going to do that.

Can somebody explain to me what the red/white rings around players mean and what does a star under player represent?

Of late, I can’t get the ball out of the scrum, the scrum is wheeling when using the buttons to get the ball out or collapsing. Please help?

Since a few patch, I find extremely difficult to gain a turnover ball even if I’m the first. Also my kicks are very short compared to the AI who manage a 50/22 almost every time on the highest difficulty level

After the patch today I find the game … still nonsense … but a more enjoyable nonsense.

Still not in a good enough state to be considered a finished rugby game or one that I would play regularly, but it is in a better state than 3 months ago. So I think todays patch was an improvement, especially with the ball in ruck bug resolved.

There may actually be hope for Rugby 27 :sweat_smile:

Nope i just checked nothing on xbox series x

Still nothing on xbox.. PC version:

  • Mauls are broken. Well except for the AI.
  • Scrums still broken.
  • Lineouts? I didn’t manage to win any, although I had the ball for 10 phases the whole match given I can’t win a ruck. AI 50/22, maul, score, or I just have no-one in the back defending.
  • AI can simply just get perfect 50/22’s and it’s forwards kicking + 30m
  • Box kicking better. AI also doing box kicks
  • Marking doesn’t work. The game goes bonkers and you cannot select player to catch the ball from AI’s kick.
  • Defensive positioning issues. Several times I had literally no-one back.
  • Missed tackles still bizarre
  • Still player names show up at start of game. Why can we only temporarily see the player’s names on screen for opposition team.
  • Ruck turnovers are nearly impossible now with lower rated teams
  • Several passes has gone straight over the field to Timbuktu.

It came out on PS a few hours ago.

PC, latest patch, I was playing Toulouse against Munster, in Toulouse.
The game :
AI kick from almost any position : 50/22
AI retain the ball in any ruck until they score
Kick off, AI 50/22
AI retain the ball until…
Knock on from the AI, no ref intervention, AI scored

Could anyone advise on how to jackal a ball or perfom a decent kick ? It seems almost impossible now.

The game always worked very smooth to me, but since the last patch the performance are really low now, especially during cutscenes…

This is my pc:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X 8-Core Processor 3.40 GHz
RAM: 8 GB
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6600
OS: Windows 11

I also get performance issues since recent update.

I am really disappointed by today’s patch notes

In my first match since today’s update (PS5), I got the old bug where the ref shouts “No advantage, scrum here” and everyone plays on regardless, and a new one (for me at least) whereby I became untouchable and ran from my own 22 to dot down, whereupon the defence picked up the ball and ran back upfield. What on Earth is going on? :downcast_face_with_sweat:

Just finished the same game, had two instances of the AI ball getting stuck in the maul - by the way, every catch from kickoff automatically leads to a maul, even if you smash the guy in possession in the back with a diving tackle as he turns to his teammates. Once the game has decided an animation is going to be triggered, there’s nothing the player can do to stop it. Another case in point in the same match - I get tackled, my right winger is first to the breakdown, complete with arrow above head, but refuses to join in until the AI manages to turn the ball over, whereupon he is dragged in as part of the obligatory three-man ensemble which gets cleared out - by a single opponent, of course. When will someone make a physics- based rugby game?

Yeah the AI 50/22’s are crazy :sweat_smile: They kick them with ease after catching a ball while running backwards not far from their own 22 metre line.

They still make your defenders part like the red sea to make gaps for the AI to run through too.

At least they try to pass and kick nowadays, a slight improvement from the one out hit up the AI used to do. Just need to keep tweaking away at it I suppose.

I’ve tried on Xbox and finally a good patch .. no pb of framerate or stability, better Ai, better kicks, for me it’s the best version for the moment .
Still waiting improvments for scrums rucks and game variety, then we will have a good game

Well… in contrast to my experience on PC yesterday, i booted up the xbox after work to see how it faired (version ID is v1.0.3423, not sure if that was the version meant to be out yesterday or today’s hotpatch ID)
And I had a game… that was fun.

France vs Australia Hardest 5 minute halves.
Final score 42-28.

  • AI brought real intensity, saw quite a few really nice choices of passes that picked put the player running a clean line through a gap in my defensive line. Actually saw about 4 “set play” set of passes and worked around me. AI even performed Box kicks that felt tactical, bouncing in to my 5m line while my fullback wasnt there.
  • Box kicking direction been corrected so pushing further away makes the kick go further, so now inverted from the PC version which was an immediate complaint by me yesterday, glad thats fixed (just need to invert the kick offs now and @JNT_BA wont have to listen to me complain about it any more :joy:)
  • AI actually played off a lineout, didnt just go for the maul, actually went to 9, then on to a crash ball 12 carry that caused me all sorts of problems to defend.
  • AI slotted 2 beautiful 50/22’s against me. (Did feel like AI have the ability to kick perfect long range kicks within milliseconds of recieving the pass, which obviously a human player cant do, so pretty unfair, but atleast they took the kick) but from seeing others feedback, seems like i might have had many less kicked against me, could easily see how having 10 in a match against you would be frustrating, especially as players dont always pick up loose ball, so you dont have the ability to cover them well.
  • AI made 4 subs accross the match without injuries forcing them.
  • Didnt have a single incident of ball getting stuck in a maul or ruck.
  • AI took tactical defensive box kicks in their own 22 to clear their lines.

Had to actually sit up in the chair and focus on the game rather than walk over tries, or just put the controller down knowing they were going to “hand off” all the way to a try.

Issues still remaining.

  • Scrum half can still clip through the ruck by being pushed by arriving forwards and kicks the ball out of the ruck.
  • AI offloads are off the scale :joy: the repeat patter of “handoff 1st tackler, offload on second tackle” is leading to some outrageous offloads to players i didnt even know they could pass to. It doesnt even feel like a target pass, more like them playing the offload HAS to be recieves by the next nearest player.
  • couple of target passes being thrown to ground and bouncing along the ground to touch
  • issue with commiting 0 players to a ruck. The game seems to expect you to put in a minimum of 3. So if you put 0 in a ruck, a lot of the time the tacklers stand offside waiting for you to add them in the ruck, but because you dont they stand offside and give away a penalty even though you arent playing as them, and just simply didnt compete at the ruck to keep more people in your defensive line.

Hopefully its not a one off match, because other peoples feedback on here sounds like a much worse experience than what ive had today, ill play a couple more games over the evening.

I also found out today, that the dummy pass option if times correctly activates the sidestep animation and beating a defender. I didnt know that was a thing. I feel like that may actually be a better system than having the action on the analog stick, because it takes a lot more finesse and timing than just flicking a stick.

Oh also, name cards at the bottom of the screen still dont work… ill mention it every time, because i still dont see how thats broken.
But playing the match as France on the xbox. Not only were opponents name card not on screen. But 0 of my own players had their names at all? Not in open play, not scoring a try, not when scoring a conversion. So somehow they may have gone further backwards, than alrwady broken :joy:

Game 2 had another fun game. Wales vs New Zealand, 5 min halves hardest. 28-7
Most of what I mentioned above still applies.

  • New Zealand actually run an inside switch set play which means you have to defend really tight which is fun.
  • Did have a ball stuck in a Maul, so not completely fixed.
  • Have Evidence AI 50/22 is actually a cheat. One of their players was mid sidstep animation when punting the ball for a 50/22, so it feels like a pre determined kick, before they receive the ball and can override any of their actions. They scored five 50/22s against me, and 2 of them the ball actually just phased through my player rather than it charging down.
  • High tackles are back aswell though, havnt seen one of them in a long time

Couple of other bits noticed.

  • Penalty Kicks , the label for applying power with Y still says “kick off” over the button as I assume its brought over from the dropout/kick off set piece. Could change to “punt” or something as its not really a kick off.
  • AI knocked a ball dead after I kicked the ball and it bounced behind their try line. Resulted in a 5m scrum to me. But result should be a dropout. As the ball was taken over the try line by my action, even though it was their fault the ball went dead.
  • might also be specific to xbox version. But quite a few issues with momentum after getting a loose ball, either by a catch or picking the ball up. Both me and the AI seem to need to stand still for a second after getting the ball before running. Wouldve got a brilliant crossfield try, ball bounced off the ground perfectly to chest height to my guy running on to the bounce, but once he got it, he stopped dead, then started building up his sprint again which was enough to be caught by a defender that didnt stand a chance.

But overall, this feels much more enjoyable than what I played on PC yesterday.
