Rugby 25 Megathread

Going to have to analyze exactly what I am doing, maybe it’s what Bear Gamer is doing. But I don’t feel like its a wild diving tackle, maybe the strafe (left shoulder and Y at the same time) will have to test, but it seems like the initial break tackle from the AI can be stopped somehow, I am not saying it is perfect and looks good but , been able to do, now , take in mind this on hard not hardest. So not sure if it makes a difference, but for sure as you mentioned a high, and low tackle would make more sense. I have been posting about high and low tackle and risk and rewards for both for a while now. The tackle that works feels like it’s a driving tackle or standing tackle.

As for Rugby Challenge 4, yes been going back and forth, but I can’t get past the 3 in the ruck max :slightly_smiling_face: And I don’t know if it’s because I played so much of RC , RC2, and RC3 and 4 that something about Rugby 25 intrigues me.

I have express lots of concern why BA did not explain the mechanics of rucks, and scrums and mauls better, so we can test better. The conclusion I have come to is, they are still working out the system, so why take the time to explain a system that may change considerably, for example the tackle, stand, and jackle was in the game initially (although 1% effectiveness) I think I managed to do it twice in like 50 games, it was even in the tutorials (now it does not work in game or the tutorials , Y seems to do nothing in the rucks ( for now at least). But I think they will fix this.

Hi, @JNT_BA !

I have a ,kind of like, crazy/stupid idea , outside of the fact that gameplay is prior (wich, i think ,until the end of the procces, you will nail that) , could you bring to us a fresh air with haka(NZ,Fiji,Samoa,Tonga) and anthems as an add-on purchase? Also, for your QOL ,just try to contact a retired/old active union player, to give you some tips over union overall!

I would love to see (like in tiebreak,a player on the game cover) ,for example,as an User ,the option to play Jonny Wilkinson/Dan Carter/Quade Cooper/Maa Nonu/SBW /Shane Williams or many more other’s career and also a pro career mode will be amazing and i would pay for that as an add on! Regards!

“As an add on purchase”…crazy mindset

Yeah would think as far as the anthems and haka and others would be in the game. Pretty sure rugby challenge 4 had them and it was made around 6 years ago I think.

Rugby 06 had them also 20 years ago and from presentation POV ,is a game changer when it comes to realism !

I already feel like I’ve been ripped off with the purchase of this game without adding any “add-on” features :joy:

I am starting to see some good things in the game and I’m hoping by the time Rugby 27 is released we should have a decent game!

I have a funny feeling that basic things like national anthems, the pacific islanders pre-match rituals and even the world cup will only be a “new” feature in the next installment of this game

Might be one of those things where camera choice impacts success rate. As someone who plays side camera, the Y tackle is almost always a fail. But as you mentioned it works when running a straight line at the opponent, that might be the reason, because judging a straight line is much harder on side camera than end on. Might test Y on end on to see if it feels better.
On side camera Y basically only has to animations, slip off the hip, or grab the ball carriers shoulders and fall off, and is only really useful to slow the player down so a 2nd player can make a 2nd tackle, as for some reason the AI lose the ability to side step if they already get hit with the Y tackle.
I also really miss the tap tackle that used to be in EA using the Y button, i always thought it was really good and AI were very good at it. But havnt seen it in a very long time

I believe one possibility of why you are experiencing these issues … is because side camera is a pants view played by crazy people that are stuck in either the year 2008 or 2011?

I would actually love a mix of the two. Give us broadcast angle please? Even better, the ability to not only change the FOV and height as it currently is, but to have control of the side to side so we can place it at any angle in between end on and side on that we please.

I have no idea how difficult this would be. I must admit I still do not understand how the different views have different impacts from using the same game mechanism in the same environment

All of this problems can be solved ,if, at this point ,"controled movement " from RLL4 is introduced !

(So basically you choose your defender and at the moment you press LT ,you get a smooth control over your player so you can fine adjust his possition before each tackle)

I embody being one of the crazy people, thats why I have MaD in my name :joy:

Its actually wild how much the camera does change the flow of the game so much, I also have no idea how that happens. I just played a rematch of the lions vs western force that i put out a video on. but did it from end on camera, and used the Y tackle. and at the end of the game had a total of 11 missed tackles. Compared to side camera where its easy to average 40-50 in a game. You do have to hit the players front on with Y, but specifically holding the Y button down rather than a tap, also seems to reduce not only the ability to break the tackle, but also how often the AI offloads. Side camera in the same match up feels like youre playing a game of 7s where the ball doesnt stop moving. End on is a casual experience of phases made up of 1 off runners and you dragging them to the ground.
Why is the game so different? Who knows. :joy:

How tf did you do a game with only 11 missed tackles? I play end on, 5 minute halves and average 40 in normal to 80 in unmatched games (You can see that in my screenshots from your other thread about low ranked teams) and the AI may score 1 try max usually none. 11 is impressive. Crazy if a dive tackle is the most effective.

Y is just such a horrible looking and functioning tackle from what I see. I do not even want to try it, the game is ridiculous enough as it is without making everyone dive all over the place ha ha.

Also I like realism, and I have never seen a guy dive into a tackle ever lol while playing or watching on tv. I am sure one or two guys in history have but the only time someone should realistically dive in a tackle is if they are getting beaten either to their side, or beaten and chasing them down from behind the ball carrier.

A dive tackle to be used as a common tackle just makes no sense to me

Edit: Tried Y tackling, is as pants as I thought

That Y should become a “big hit” button when you are in front and a “dive/tap tackle” from behind!

Yeah Y tackle on end camera cuts done the missed tackles by a lot, but the proportion is still massive 18/43 tackles missed is still too much. And about 8 of those were Ardie Savea on a single carry where for some reason the Y button stopped being effective and my whole team just bounced off him 1 at a time for their only try :joy:
Ive also noticed holding Y, sometimes they get bumped off but then make a 2nd successful tackle. And when that happens it counts as both a missed tackle and a successful tackle. So stats a little weird. But effectiveness in a game, end on camera and holding Y is superior for me. But looks very weird in the animations.
Side camera Y button still get well over 40-50+ missed tackles using Y.

Also no idea what constitutes “handling errors”, not a single knock on and I threw 4 bullet passes to touch and in my own dead ball area, but apprently they had 7:1 ratio worse compared to me.

I always hold down the Y button rather than tap as it often results in the secondary tackle as you mention.

Hey just one question probably a stupid one are getting an update tomorrow or has every 3 weeks started thanks

Yeah I realised I hadn’t really taken notice of the missed tackles before. Seems when you play a team that isn’t much lower you get less missed tackles lol. I got 9 in this one with just normal B tackling. Maybe it is an end on thing rather than an B v Y thing. Because you can actually tell what angle the opponent is running. Who knows.

Crazy people… Present!

I won’t tell you what I think about people using end-on camera… :face_with_spiral_eyes:
