Had a chance after sport today to play some Rugby under the new patch. I agree with Mad Dragon and his video. The kicking has not really improved at all. In any other Rugby or League game ever they have not made a punt or clearance kick downfield so difficult.
1 - The pocket player always advances on receipt of the ball.
2 - The pocket player often doesnāt show up or move into position.
3 - The kick simply does not have enough range. You have to risk getting nailed nearly every single time and often do to get to maximum power. That maximum power is not worth it for the range you get. If a top flyhalf fully wound up that much to kick and hit it as hard as he could it would go 50+m. Weāre getting 30-35 on the full and then relying on a bounce with maximum power. Kicking is not worth the risk for the pathetic reward.
4 - The camera speed zoom out makes things slightly more difficult rather than helping.
5 - The aerial maneuvers (contested catches) are definitely worth getting right and even including for kick-offs, but are a bit of a mystery as far as what the meters all mean. That should be in a tutorial.
Overall as a game, it feels really janky in most ways, from rucks to side-steps to the kicking. Itās a shame we waited 3 weeks for things that look like they need another 3 weeks before theyād almost work properly.
I feel what subtle differences have been made to the side-camera have been good for the most part, so thank you for that. Really hoping that we start to see some things that work properly in upcoming patches.
Letās hope a hotfix for the kicking is in the pipeline

Back to lots of Outside Centre for teams that previously had player names eg England
Please can we have both teams names appearing, maybe above or below the players when they have the ball
Referee wearing white when England wear white
Scrum half at the base of the ruck. Tighthead prop next to him kicks it, directly into the scrum half
Inside centre makes a break. Team mates approach the breakdown, stare at it, turnover to the computer
Penalty for a knock on
Nothing on screen to say that I had conceded a penalty and was playing against advantage
For the ruck momentum graphic (red/green thing) my bar was full, I was hitting steal but nothing happening. In that scenario, I think itād be good for the opposition to give away a holding on penalty
I call a mark, am tackled over the try line and give away a 5m scrum
Once I start a box kick, the defence moves back to cover. Would be great to have the ability to cancel it and pass out
Ntamack got a fractured skull (before I made the tackle) and still carried on running around
- I donāt think any of the kicks I made are registering as kick metres made, as I had 0 even though I made lots of kicks
Patch made the game less playable
Teleporting players single play now no longer works players are on ice skates nhl24 has more control
Comms is all over the place and repeats same stuff over and over
No unique team entrances viking clap n such for 2025 this nedds to be better if its gonna be months to be fixed let me know so i csn free up my hard drive until its sorted
This aint good enough i honestly hope this bombs the company malpractice and miss selling on this scale deserve punishment
Heres one thing Iāve noticed, and im sure many of you have too. I was playing and gave away a penalty advantage. The ref played advantage then namibia a few phases later went on to score. Only after the ball was put down the red disallowed the try and bought them back to the penalty. Find it strange and weird this needs to be fixed
@JNT_BA can we have the option to disable timing for kicks? No one likes the timing
@JNT_BA love the fact we are getting the new try scoring options. Are we likely to see this risk vs reward type mechanisms in other areas of the game?
Tackling, a big shot that can send a tackler back, maybe dislodging the ball, however can result in high tackle or injury. A low shot thats safe, however increases the chance of evading or making meters post contact.
Passing, adding the abilty to give a flat pass, increasing momentum however can result in interception.
Just some things that were in rll titles in the past
I love the Right Stick impact tackle button in RL26. It doesnāt do it every time or even often, but maybe once or twice in a 10 minute halves game youāll see a strong hit that jolts the ball free from the ball carrier.
Also should come with a higher chance of penalty maybe when you use it.
Gameplay needs a lot of work will having lines and tactics help yes but gameplay needs to be smooth, play rl26 most of today and decide will give new update a go didnāt even made it to half time has its janky. Going from rl26 to r25 feels like going from a next gen game thatās smooth to a ps3 game thatās janky and just feels meh
Feel like I have seen similar scenes at a Coldplay concert recentlyā¦

Hey @JNT_BA really enjoying the new aerial catching having played with it a bit more. Just to add to my previous post Iād also suggest changing the button from X to square (PS5). As the general catch button for non contested is square I sometimes instinctively go to press that.
Iām also having some issues with the tap back option. The tap back is working however once the ball hits the ground I canāt switch to a player to then collect it. Happened once where my player eventually reacted to the ball but by then the ball had bounced so much it was behind where Iād kicked from. Thanks

Haha was more referring to the tap back but if you insist ill change to R3 + L3 + X just to complicate it more.

Just thankful we have @JNT_BA doing R25 and is a lot better with communication with us on this game, the chaos on X is crazy for RL26, I think they need a JN type to calm them down lol, so just a quick thank you for keeping us in the loop bud, if they ask you to produce RL26 please tell them no and stick with us Union guys, We need you more , canāt wait for the next update with hopefully the support runners fixed.

I made my previous comment based on the negativity I was seeing on here without playing myself yet, but I think the update was good. The change in up and unders and now the aerial system adds a lot to the game. Punting is good now too, had to go into training and just punt a bunch of balls to see how it works, now I understand how to kick high and long. I do think it could even be updated to allow punts to go a little further, but i like the system now that I understand it. Need a more complex lineout system, maul system, better scrums and rucks. Finally with a way to change player positioning to run some set plays would make this very good imo. Also goal kicking still too easy. All that said I still have fun with the game, just hope to see continued improvements as we are now almost into August.
Also, having same issue with tap backs in the air where nobody on my team picks up the ball. I would imagine that shouldnāt be tough to fix. Good work @JNT_BA
