Rugby 25 Megathread

Honestly, the recent couple of patches have really added very little. There are some crazy things wrong with this game.

Offside penalties occurring when they shouldn’t.

No knock-ons, dropped balls or forward passes for badly timed passes by the user or AI.

General play kicking is a part of the game that most users find irrelevant due to pathetic distance, that they’ve since told us they will not change unless it’s in sliders (the sliders which we have heard next to nothing about and have had zero discussion about). They indeed DO actively ignore near universal feedback about this, due to some in-house person who believes they have it right! After this amount of time and this much feedback, I frankly find it insulting to say we as the audience don’t know what we’re talking about.

To prove that things are weird about this point, look at Rugby League general play kicking, they seem to have a different in-house expert who actually realizes that players can peel off a 50m kick!!!

To further PROVE that someone doesn’t seem to know what they’re doing, they have had great feedback as a company on AFL and Rugby League goal kicking being excellent! Do they keep it the same as League due to people finding it an enjoyable system that no-one complains about? Nooooo, what they do is have an over-simplistic system which paints the full blooming arc of the path of the ball through the sticks. You just have to stop the power bar somewhere reasonable by pushing the stick straight up and you’ll bang over every kick. Wind? That’s not important either!

Looking at the way League and Cricket are treated, they seem to take their audience more seriously. The range of things they have that we don’t is completely outrageous now. I just went to boot up one of them just now to see what features of difference I can list and what do I find? A patch for both League and Cricket!

They have Custom Competition Customization options that make ours look like a joke.
They have Match Type Customization.
They have Custom difficulties.
They have Team List Management.
They have sliders for various game changes the user wants.
They have far better working actual game rules and laws in-game.
Then there’s all the stuff I mentioned at the start and more!!!

By the way, scrums are still incredibly slow, boring and the 9 takes forever and constant passes to remove the ball from the scrum (which he does stood completely still)! I can’t believe it, but these are the worst scrums in the history of video game rugby. I should know, I’ve played them all since 1991!

I suppose I should be careful because some people with negative opinions about the games status aren’t posting here anymore, but it’s gotten ridiculous with the recent patches offering next to nothing each 3 weeks. It’s no surprise people aren’t posting anywhere near as much here anymore.

It appears nearly 100% fruitless. Please for goodness sake offer something significant in the way of improving this game to the level of other titles. It’s really quite unfair to your customer base.

I hope I’m allowed to say this.

The lack of patch/update notes of late, on all of the BA games right now, is hard to witness. There is a lot of good in BA games, but they need to slow down a bit on new releases and give written updates for existing games we all paid good money for.

I personally……have bought ALL of them…

On a positive note, Rugby League 26’s sliders have for me made my AI vs AI matches soooooo much more watchable, lowering the defensive slider to 0……………I now see so many things in the matches I watch, we just need these sliders urgently into Rugby 25 !!

Agreed x1000 - I suspect our comments will get deleted or we’ll potentially be banned though.

I just watched a Rugby 08 clip on YouTube from someone who reloaded onto their PC and it still plays like the best Rugby game ever made lol

Agree 100% booted the game up after not playing for about 3 months kicked off and uninstalled the game right away, shame that after all our feedback pretty much non of that has really improved but gotten worse added stuff no one really asked for where 1 one or 2 players asked for but seems like major improvement that pretty much the whole community asked for has been ignored since early access, end of the day if you get banned from this forum pretty much doing you a favour because most of the community is gone in anyway, even mad dragon is not making videos anymore with international games that’s played weekly so loosing that content is also not helping them.

But should of seen the writing on the wall when we asked JNT before full release if the game was going to be challenging with day 1 update and he said he lost a few games but it was only because he simulated games that should of told us all what we needed to know about this game

These 3 week patches was suppose to give more time to improve things. It’s gotten worst.
I have not bothered playing in about 5 weeks.
I just watch Mad Dragons videos ( good videos btw). If it’s worth playing yet.

General gameplay needs urgent attention.
Rugby laws needs to be implemented properly. would love to play a game that was promised.

Please listen to the community.

Think it’s all falling on deaf ears mate…they can’t even be bothered to fix side steps and apparently we’re all supposed to believe that the lack of kick distance is a contentious subject, even though i haven’t seen one single person on this board agree with it.

better to accept it is what it is it is at this point…

Something i believe needs changing or updating is when a front row player gets sent off,i believe you should be able to choose the player who goes off to bring a replacement on for the front 3 position. This would make the game a bit more accurate and would be better then sacrificing my fullback to bring on a replacement hooker.

First game in a long time:

I believe that it would be good for the game to have a big improvement of ALL areas regarding gameplay, and implementation of the rules, like offsides maybe? But that’s just my opinion. When is the end of the early access again ? October 127th ?

Edit: here is the second part of the video, with of course the impossibility to control the player in the good direction to defend, and the impossibility to tackle. Nice

@JNT_BA are you planning on implementing sliders at some point? If so, how many sliders would be put into the game and for what?

A lad shared this on the Discord.
Not much news…

Quand news and fun ?
Quand gameplay ?
Quand gifs ?

I hope the replies are honest…

Yep, as we have been doing the reworks we’ve been making sliders in things that can have them. Some will mostly not go public as it will be things that you can change but you won’t see a difference on a large enough scale it will come down to what can we unlock that will make sense then also what can be explained enough.

@JNT_BA update still on track for next week?

Yep we believe we sorted the online issues with mauls. Unfortunately it means they are actually changing slightly again. I’ll try to get exact details. Im currently reviewing support running and attacking team line speed. Its better, I want it faster still but need to find that balance.

Not linked to gameplay: do you think the custom competition mode will be improved in R25?

As you know, the pool draw of a famous competition taking place in 2027 will be tomorrow. In addition to a vastly improved gameplay, that could be nice to have the possibility to play it

Hi, @JNT_BA,

What are your thoughts about rules? When there will be in R25?

Knock-ons, forward passes, penalties (I mean more than high tackles and off-side, which are pretty random and not accurate).

Thanks

Is it going to be possible to assign official kits to custom teams by next week patch? Or are the squads going to be updated?

Is it on my list? Yep, I want more done there. Will it get done… maybe, my list is quite large, and it’s about managing the resources I have, even if it’s against the things I would personally like to have right now. When it comes to custom comps, it’s actually a massive process. When setting all the different options, it has to make sure there is a compatible match type, then there are a whole bunch of other things. Obviously, we have the WRWC now. To get that working as intended, it required a lot of manual overwrites, much to the annoyance of the career team, with me going back to them every 5 minutes to make it as close as possible. This makes it very hard to just bring this out to a comp schedule.

Game has a good flow when playing run and pass rugby, the set pieces is what is really hurting the game and some improved draw and pass. Scrums are my biggest disappointment, why over complicate it? There have been many past systems that did a decent job of grabbing the essence of the scrum. But this is any area that has never excelled in any Rugby game to date. Like it or not scrums are a huge part of rugby and rugby strategy, Springboks are the team they are and the World Champions because they have a tremendously powerful scrum and set piece game. Why not take pride in making it he best scrum system of any Rugby game to date, (the bar is not that high). A scrum, with possible over commitment, with power, with strategy, with a little risk vs reward play with penalties, scrums that make an impact in the game be having the team penalize for collapsing. The system in itself could be a mini game. A combo of Rugby Challenge Series and Rugby 22 could work with added risk vs reward penalty system. The rucks are almost there and have improved considerably since early builds, but we need the isolated “tackle stand and Jackle to work as initially intended, (like rugby challenge) and more rucking penalties and you could have a very good system. And last but not least the side-step, one of the worst side-steps in the history of rugby games. Having said that, I am enjoying the game and appreciate the improvements as they slowly trickle into the game. Look forward to more improvements.
