@MrBacon, love all the points you raise, the differentiation of look and stats between players is vital for overall feel of the game. The players also look very similar in their body shape - Union is for all shapes and sizes, which this isn’t yet portraying but arguably get the game play right before the art element is what’s needed. All other points 2-8 make total sense and (for the Devs) i concur with these thoughts for their trending.

After 2 - 5 times going backwards in the tackle (behind the gainline) a team would have “lost their momentum” and usually look for a kick of some description, especially at the top level.
The offside in defence needs a look at, I have been able to stand in the passing channel / fully offside when defending (which I have done a lot of) and not draw an offside penalty, which is funny for a time, then gets a little silly - think the Italians against England in the 6N game a few years back.

Lionmaul, AI single pass and rucks, 100% agree need modifying. Sliders would be a great addition, but if the game can be made effective for all levels through the difficulty selection, sliders wouldn’t necessarily be needed?

@FilthyBandit, YES! Could make these element enforced above a certain level / difficulty? Make it alterable in the game settings? So that those learning the game or that aren’t regular gamers / rugby fans arent put off by not understanding why button mashing isn’t working? But those subtleties would improve the feel of the game.

BonnotXV, agree with you that there are a lot of areas which need adjusting, but the foundation is there, it holds promising shoots from a gamers perspective.

Definitely needs the ability to enter a defensive and offensive strategy for a team, set starting positions in attacking shape, set running lines, pod structure. Like the fact the forward’s field split and defensive pressure can be adjusted with the D-pad in game, which still doesnt make much difference with the whole stats not seemingly being that well employed at the moment, but having ability to set strategy before a game starts and tweak in-game will be a marked improvement.

BA Team - the comparisons are probably getting annoying to games which you may not have developed. Probably easier to take mechanics from AFL 23 or RLL 4 and apply them to Rugby 25. That being said, if you are able to take the “good bits” out of the other historical Union games and combine it with your licencing and sports video games knowledge then Big Ant will be able to firmly add the Rugby Union society to their roster of games - firmly hitting the Ross Symons vision - “What we decided to do, because my passion is sport, outside of [video] games, and so we thought, “Sport is renewable. There’s always a sequel. There’s always another season.”” It doesnt need saying, buuuuuut: gamers can be a fickle but loyal bunch, think of the success of Fifa vs Pro Evo Soccer, get it right and we will all flock back for more and more, get it wrong and it’ll be Tennis and Cricket dev (this thread knows which is the best of those 3 sports). We are wishing and willing you to succeed! We all want you to create a game where we ask ourselves “Where did those last 2 hours go!?”, not “What is going on here?” We all have faith you will do it, keep up the good development, early days since release, big up Big Ant.

This is update for xbox series x as of right now. Hopefully fixes a bit on gameplay

I had a 7.1GB patch on Steam this morning. No idea if that was the gameplay patch which we were told was coming this week or not

Any patch notes for todays update?

Latest patch- I think it’s slightly faster paced? Other than that I see no difference

Played 1 game.
Mmmmmm it’s better. But the passing is still rubbish.
If I have to hear “receive the pass” one more time. Is that commentary on a loop?

Constructive feedback:
Please make the passing more responsive. Still floaty. I’m lineing up someone from the car park.

Please remove “receive the pass” commentary line or at least let him say it less. 5 times in 30 seconds is killing me.

Looks like whatever bug was causing the mauls from lineouts to be broken has been fixed.

Came on here to see if anyone noticed anything different with the patch in case I was crazy. Don’t notice anything different.

Commentary has some new lines. Overall a little better l.
South Africa defaults starting lineup has changed for the better.

Feedback:
Line outs : can now win lineouts whoooo hooo. However all the time now. Just jump on middle and you win it all the time.

AI: one pass play still there.

So the AI seem to be scoring points now and taking penalties at goal, which is good, but they still only make 1 pass the majority of the time, with the occasional second pass if they have enough time. Where are the offloads and quick passing?

Gameplay seems to be quicker, the AI seem to be eager to get the ball moving, which is good.

AI also regularly has this fantastic line setup, as per the image, but they never use it. They just receive the pass and crash up. Would love to see them make some great passes and dynamic moves

The player in the front of the pod has the ball, and whether Ai or user, he needs to have the ability to easily and quickly pop the ball to either options 1 or 2 running on his shoulder (inside or outside pop), for the crash ball and possible gap, OR a back pass to option 3 which opens up the backline again. This is classic running rugby

A few other things:

  1. Passes still go behind the receiving players back, breaking momentum. They should pass the ball in front of the receiving player, with a poor pass going behind his back.
  2. The sponsors boards around a custom stadium are still just black, despite sponsors being selected. It worked perfectly before.
  3. Even the best goal kicker in the world, Thomas Ramos, who is 100 rated for goal kicking, would miss 1 kick out of 10. Therefore a 100 rated kicker should still miss in game, with 90 rated missing 2/10 and 80 rated missing 3/10.
  4. Still cannot add more than 8 teams to a custom competition. Surely this is a quick fix.
  5. AI still do not make any substitutions, whether tactical or injury enforced. Should not be a difficult fix.
  6. Players still running out the wrong side of the stadium, they should run out beneath the camera
  7. There are now hardly any knock-ons and very few penalties, mostly just for offsides. There are times when the opposition player is blatantly offside at the ruck, where the scrum half passes the ball into him, stopping any momentum for the attacking team. Clear penalty but the referee does not call it. Most penalties will happen in and around the ruck, so focus on that, with the occasional offside in the backline, scrum penalties and dangerous tackles, which if high, is an immediate yellow card at least.

Many other things, besides the obvious gameplay stuff, but lets get these fixed first, then we can give you a list with hundreds of smaller things.

As well as what’s been mentioned, I’ve noticed that after loose balls (due to the many off-target passes), you can’t seem to switch player from the one who did the inaccurate pass, making it harder to recover the ball.

Also notice that the fly half does drop into the pocket some times. You have to hold pass button and press x. I’ve done a few good kicks like this .
Overall it’s better. Not great but better.
Oh and South Africa now best team in game. 90 rated

So just downloaded latest update, about the start a game but have now noticed, that in addition to not being able to move real players to other teams/move them to international teams, you now can’t even add created players! Like what and why? Why has an update given us LESS customisation options? Will this be changing?!
