Passing in new update - cut out pass options not working all the time. From ruck choosing some passing options, 9 wont pass and stand up. Then just gives a floating pass or pass it forward.

Thank you bud, You gave good feedback yourself mate, I like what you said about the bunching as that’s what I was trying to get at but I didn’t know how to word it correctly, the shape on the backs really needs looking at as 99% of time I have a lock in the center and my 12 is out on the left wing, I’m sure they’ll read the feedback and take note but the bugs that this latest update has caused is crazy

I do believe the guys will get it right but after what was promised from yesterday’s update and what was received I think this is going to need some more testing before they release the patches as yesterday’s I feel made the game much more buggy and less enjoyable.

The difficulty also needs looking at asap imo.

Let’s see what Thursday brings.

100% mate agree with you fully! Can’t workout how positioning has not been addressed yet. Onwards and upwards hopefully! It would be good to have a roadmap with the parts of the game that
they are working on improving for each week.

At the moment it just feels like
-Passing
-Support lines
-rucks
-stability

Are the only areas of the gameplay being worked on. But aren’t noticing any real noticeable changes just slight tweaks which in some cases like the most recent update has made it worse.

Could release a roadmap that covers the next 3 weeks and then as you get more feedback you can address these areas down the roadmap depending on the importance of the issue. That way people would know they are going to address what they want changed or improved in the game and don’t need to keep repeating themselves in the forum asking for the same area to be fixed. As we still don’t know if they are going to fix the positioning as hasn’t been addressed.

Should spend a bit of time with attack/defence coaches or players when getting the licensing from the pro clubs. Get them to have a play and give you feedback. So you can get a good understanding of how rugby is played and how it should feel for the player when playing the game, structure, rules, interpretations of rules, shapes, patterns, tactics.

Hopefully better patches ahead!

We’ll see what tomorrows update brings :thinking:

I agree, one question I’d like them to answer for us is do they play the game before releasing each patch because if they had played this patch (I can’t comment on other consoles except PS5) then they’d see that there was no way this patch was ready for release and that the biggest thing for me was the bugs this patch has compared to others is absolutely crazy.

I think with the bunching I’ve managed to get a really good screenshot of what we mean.

Like here:

I’ve just won a ruck and all my players are just bunched together, why?
Why not have the players get into position and create a backline, this is domino affect as with the bunching here what then happens is the scrum half will do the ā€œfloating passā€ which then allows the opposition to tackle you just as you landing after jumping to catch the ball. So no space made. This I think/hope is what people mean with the bunching together at rucks and lineouts after they’ve been won.

As I said before many people have said it should have been released but it’s here now and I’m off work with a broken ankle so I can’t do anything but relax and play rugby 25 so happy to help if needed for the PS5.

I just hope the passing and bugs can’t be put right for tomorrow’s release. :crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers:

Can we just please be able to add the licenced players to custom teams. I’m currently trying to make the npc and I don’t want to have to make all the players for it. I just wanted to grab some of the super rugby players and put them in.

Cheers guys that was the issue

Make sure to not have more then 75% of mem used of up or storage space used up. I find this helps with xbox-s. Although if you have a xbox-x, why even bother. :slightly_smiling_face:

Yeah I have my xbox s in different room so sometimes easier just to play a game there. But lagging, so not sure why.

I’ve had this game for a few days and to be honest it’s crap pretty much just on defence most of the game put ball down for a try calls it held up bullet passes from mid field past 3 players lined up straight to the stands spent all the money on getting the faces right and none on the game play just boring slow sh!t game waste of $100 it’s 2025 and this is what we get rugby challenge so much better there is so much that needs fixed on this game why was it released when it’s so full of bugs

I will give you all at BIG Ant high marks for communication. I will ride this out with them as long as good communication continues. Please consider game sliders a high priority so we can tweak a lot of these issues ourselves.

Been managing to make some REALLY good plays since the new patch. My main flaw is that the AI do absolutely nothing in attack, the patch notes said they would pass more but they simply don’t. For now, I’ve been enjoying the game by just switching sides to make it an even scoreline but at the end of the day, for a Ā£45 game that shouldn’t be the case.

I think the passing is improving every patch but also there seem to be more and more bugs coming through. Very often my passes will be intercepted, whether that be by the opposition or my own player heading the ball like it’s football/soccer.

  • I still find sometimes when I try make the final pass to my winger the ball just goes as a straight bullet pass out into touch. This has ruined many plays that could’ve been great.
  • I’ve also found that sometimes when I pass the ball (mainly from a ruck) my 9 (or whoever is passing) will run forward, freeze, teleport back to where he started and the ball comes flying down from the sky :joy:

Rucks still need a complete overhaul imo, they are nothing like irl rugby right now. You should be able to add/remove players, shouldn’t have to be 3v3 every time.
Plus, I’m not too sure how I feel abt the new update on rucks; sometimes I will get a turnover and there isn’t the animation however I can’t even tell if I’ve won the ball or not.

  • I don’t think there is too much feedback I can give on rucks atp that hasn’t been said because like I mentioned previously, they need an entire overhaul as they are nothing like Rugby Union rucks.

Another bug I’ve had is when I tackle the opposition on their try line they just won’t pass out from the ruck and it will go to a scrum from not using the ball.

I’ve also experienced so many weird fouls? I might make a forward pass and it will say it was offside? The AI always choose a scrum from any penalty too. A lot of the time the AI will be running free after a line break and it will just say ā€œknock on advantageā€ for no reason?

Overall I think passing is definetley getting there but does at times feel like 1 step forward is 2 steps back. Focus on the final pass to the winger and tidying up any of the bugs mentioned.

Rucks need an overhaul.

Penalties need tidying up too.

Keep up the good work guys, the improvements are being seen.

Just one question, do we know if we will ever be able to edit squads?
If not then that is rubbish, by the time this game is ā€˜complete’ the season will be most likely finished and lots of transfers will happen meaning the game will be outdated before it’s even finished.

Feedback on patch.

  • Ai has only improved slightly in attack. I noticed passes now go to Fullback, Flyhalf, various players in backline aswell as Forwards. This is good but they still don’t do multiple passes or offloads. Not many long passes either to attack. Also Ai attack is slow. Hardly any break tackles. It’s too easy to defend against Ai. I playing on hardest difficulty. I haven’t even seen the Ai scoring a Try against me in many weeks. This is a major issue and it’s making the game pretty dull and not challenging. The Ai needs more opportunities to gain territory, tackle breaks, penalties, kicking 50/20, and the coding to be programmed to make them attack a lot more better.

  • Again I feel the problems with Ai attack issue is partly because generally stats are inaccurate because they are not individualised per player across the game. You basically got all licensed players all with similar attack and defence stats across all positions. Never have i seen a standardised stats/skills for players in a sport or rugby video game. What it’s creating is a ā€œDeadlockā€ especially when Ai attacking and you defending.

  • I played as Wallabies Australia team yesterday. It was frustrating not being able to add additional players into the team. I wanted to put other Australian players in the team to play a match but I could not. Also injuries are starting to mount across all teams in real life in Super Rugby Pacific, we will see more players added to play in these teams in real life. Again , frustrating we can’t make our own squads and add players before we start a competition/ coach career we have created such as junior players or part time player reserves not in full time squads.

  • Ai does not use substitutions. Appears it’s not programmed in. I know it might be complex to programme when a substitution might be needed and depends on stamina ? I hope you can get this right in the future.

  • Injuries. It’s annoying seeing that Ai do not substitute injured players. Again this makes them less able to win a match. Seriously injured players stay on the field.

For me I love the graphics and presentation of the game. The coach career, Judiciary, injuries, Creation tools, Fan Hub, licensing.
But we are really struggling with Ai attack and a challenging difficulty. Freedom to edit licensed teams to add custom players or remove players and editing licensed player stats

I will always be the first to commend good work and progress made, but the new patch does nothing it promises.

The complete lack of substance in updates really erodes confidence that the team have a grasp on what the problems are and how to actually resolve.

Unfortunately it’s no longer a question of ā€œwill the game ever be fixed?ā€ But rather ā€œwill the game remain in its current form or get worse?ā€

Such a pity as a significant amount of people wanted this game to succeed. It’s just hard to get behind something that is so far from what it should be as a minimum. I don’t agree with the ethics of charging full price for an early access build that either marginally improves or significantly worsens.

If it were only a dozen issues that were patch by patch getting fixed it would be easier to feel a sense of patience, but it’s dozens and dozens of issues and some are improving (player support is most of the way there) and others (passing itself) are going backwards with floaty, glitchy passing appearing in every game.

There are so many more issues though.

Side Cam angle height needing raised and skill moves not working properly on it.
Offside and Forward Pass rules are wrong.
Player positioning from set pieces is poor and 9-10 get smashed before getting the ball out.
9 and 10 are too sluggish and lacking in agility on reception of the ball.
Glitchy passes often after targetting with the passer glitching and teleporting back forward and back.
Floaty passes.
Targeted passes sometimes lagging so bad they sometimes go to no-one and roll along the ground.
Mauls being largely ineffectual.
The Maul on reception from a kick off, if you add with circle, attempting to add a third player will just grubber kick.
Scrums go on too long (can we choose to skip all the packing down?)
The AI still just one passes 95% of the time.
Rucks aren’t really an understandable game or contest. Results appear random mostly.
You can only add 3 players to a ruck.
Players bunch around the ruck in unhelpful, unrealistic positions.
Targetted passing often just targets a nearby pod of forwards rather than a near forward and the other ones being backs.
Player skills cannot be edited.
Custom players cannot be added to any team.
Custom Tournaments are limited to 8.
Custom Competitions cannot be created.
Goal kicking is bland, easy and doesn’t require timing like the better EA goal kicking of the past.
Player names do not appear after scoring tries, just player positions.
The commentary is often a mess with incorrect statements about very simple scenarios (if a player has kicked the ball out from a penalty for example).

These are just some, just what I can recall as issues. It’s hard to have faith when you have a list of common issues as long as that and then they work on one of those areas (passing) and it goes one step forward and another backwards. It makes you wonder, how will they ever in 6 months of patching get through the rest of it!!!

Still, there has been some improvements and there is still hope, there are good areas of the game. I really do think they owe us an extra good patch on the next update after some elements of this one! I’m hoping the Friday patch (NZ time) ends up being 2 steps forward for a change!
