Still cannot edit team… BA surely this is a quick fix considering some teams i can. Please do not continue to ignore your customers

Ok, so game is a bit harder. First game I won (using fairly even teams), 35-25, then 42-14, then 56-0. Still needs a load of work.

Kicking has obviously changed to be harder, I like that. Works better both out of hand (ball bounces more realistically so I can’t kick a 50-22 every play) and off the tee. Chips need tuning I think, they still seem impossible.

For the AI attack, their tries basically seem to come through spamming the hand off (RS down) move, but then most of mine do to. It would be good to get some actual attacking structures in place for both AI and user so that tries come through that and fending, rather than just the latter.

Rucks still need a load of work, but we’ve been over what we’d like to see on that a million times, so I hope that is coming.

The rain actually looks good in the game now, probably just needs improvement during cut scenes but big improvement, now just need show on the players and cloths, I know it’s possible because off rll4 and players looked great when you can see dirt/swear on players

An actual ai tactical kicking game is desperately needed . Although the game is bit more challenging, it still doesn’t replicate rugby union until a kicking game is there.
Plus the ai needs to utilise their support runners especially wingers, when they break through they have winger on the shoulder and just take the contact when a simple draw and pass would be a try . Also there is a serious lack of penalties, maybe that can be changed when sliders arrive but currently it’s set far to low . Overall good update but seriously need to focus on the kicking game and using open players, they are glaring issues…

Definitely getting some more flowing footy which is good and a couple of genuinely entertaining games. Rucks still need to be fixed. The amount of time my players are just standing there doing nothing is painful.

Will there ever be an update where career mode is improved? for example:

Budget system to buy players. the current system is not ideal, because you can actually get any player you want, just offer them a ridiculous salary. takes the fun out of planning for players.
The points you get for objectives, still have no idea what they are for. even when you get a sponsor at the start of a season, what can you use them for???
to retain players in my squad. currently i cant retain any player because the game doesn’t allow me to get anywhere close to the salaries they are requesting…

PLEASE, Can attention be given to this seeing this is basically the only mode in the game. I’ve been mentioning this for months now, absolutely no comments or feedback or anything.

positive note, game is really coming together, thanks for the improvements week after week.

This is so true! RLL4 had awful budgeting for players and currently I am barely able to sign 65 rated players its a joke and removes all fun out of career when you can’t sign players nor can you get a realistic understanding of what offers a player might want. Surely a feature where when it compares to other players in the squad depth tab, it could help sway aplayer to join knowing they are likely to be the 1st or 2nd choice 10? Just having features like star players of your clubs choosing would be cool

I agree with you, there needs to be a budget. when the transfer window opens, you know what are allowed to be spend. when you place players on the transfer market from your team, then your budget grows when the other teams buys them. no it is basically, you want a player, just offer him way way way more then he request and he will join your team. no fun in that.. my other suggestion was, the objective points you earn during the season, that needs to be converted to money which gets added to your budget at the end of the season. now its really worthless to get those points because no one knows what they are for.. for example, every 1000 points is equal to $100 000, or something similar, but just make the hard work of getting objectives done meaningful.

look i don’t know, been posting this for months and no mention to do anything to the career mode which is a shame because its the only game mode there is…

On the back of this, when searching for available players, if you click on a player then go back to the player list all the filters reset, this is very annoying, the filters should remain in place until you exit the transfer menu

Hello Big Aunty,

Stutter runnners is such a bummer. Happens randomly but kills the momentum of the play everytime, as shown in the clip below.

As you can see, players stop upon receiving the ball before running again. The last pass might have been a wrong call on my part (but i think there was a small gap) but still, the hand to hand offload, even if missed, probably shouldnt travel over 15 meters and end up in touch. Overall a lot of passes seem too flashy, a little tweaking might feel a bit more realistic. Like after rucks, the targeted pass to the player designated by X, usually very far from the ruck, feels overpowered.

On penalties, when you kick for touch, you can’t choose how many players you want to assign to the touch, so computer always selects 3 players.

On turnovers, you still get penalized for winning the ball, as shown in the clip below.

Online play really highlights the defense problems with toxic players running around the defense and defensive line not reacting properly. A lot of unbreakable tackle issues remain also.

Now that AI is a bit more reasonable, i’d love to give a go at career mode but as a lot of players have stated before, the mechanic is weird and seems unfinished. Would love to understand how points and rewards work, finance, stamina recovery, training… well, just about everything. More info ingame would be much appreciated.

The fact that in a competition you can select any team at anytime really bugs me. I really would like to have to do my best with the team i selected at the beginning of the competition, right now it feels like i can make my rival team lose whenever i want. Also you still can’t scroll in the competition menus, even if you added a button to jump to the next match, still can’t just scroll.

Would love to know when will we see big players dominating impacts, effective mauls, pick and goes, line outs set plays, set plays…

I think this may actually be user error (may be wrong). Out of habit I quite option tap the X/A button when the cut scene pre line out comes on screen to skip it (though it’s not skipable), which also happens to be the button for the short 3 man line out.

When I counciously don’t do that and wait until the options appear on screen, I tend to be able to chose how many players I want.

But AI now is great after yesterday Patch.

Ai hit the gaps, make senseful offloads, kicks when matters.

I finally have fun playing the game.
Still we have a lot of problem.

Ruck in particular, i would love seeing AI using the New “Hold” button. I always win win the ball just by stealing and never ever win a penalty for hold on… IRL players always hold on the ball to let their teammate to arrive and clean the ball or to just not giving the ball easily away. Most times is better giving the penalty rather than let the opponent play “broke” situation.

Flanker in Scrums no longer takle or try to takle the 9…

Offside still a mess…

Bugs left and right as always.

But non the less now i got i fun game!

So after weeks of stability improvements and game play tweaks is there any chance we might see some significant gameplay improvenents/new features?

Rucks, scrums, line outs, attacking play, attacking shape/lines Defensive shape defensive ai etc etc all remain totally basic, and/or subpar

Can we fix players bunched up like this please. When the opposition is in my 22 I don’t put players in the ruck becayse I’m not going to turn it over and so I have more players in the defensive line but this happens:


6 players! That’s almost half of the team around one ruck!

i thought so too at first but nah, does it everytime. I guess that’s why AI chooses scrum so often, cause even the computer wants to skip cinematics !

Just want to pick up on the fact that in a scrum, firstly the team that puts the ball in always seem to win every time.

Also the no.9 always picks and goes, they will never off load the ball so the line is pretty much redundant.

I’ve never yet seen a scrum collapse, or a maul for that matter.

Also when the attacking team are inside the 5 metre line why does the scrum half pass the ball all the way back to the edge of the 22 to a player stood there? They then get tackled and an awful lot of ground is lost.

Indeed as someone else has pointed out the AI really do need to incorporate a kicking game into their play. I don’t just mean the box kick they do at the ruck either.

I’m talking grubbers, cross kicks, long kicks, chips, up and unders, high kicks. Those are just a few that if implemented in the game would give a much wider variety of attacking options for teams

The rucks need some work also. I’ve quite often just seen the player whose been tackled to the ground lay there and his team mates will just stand there over him allowing the opponents the opportunity to steal the ball.

I won’t go on too much as these are all issues that everyone is bringing up. It’s just a reminder for the team that’s all to hopefully have a look at

Also, I have mentioned this before somewhere, will you be adding player names rather than player positions to teams when in game? I know the Premiership, Pro D2 (mostly), and some international players are already in game. It would be nice to see the Top 14, URC, Super Rugby, MLR etc get the same added.

Also maybe different textures for pitches. Some teams play on natural grass, others play on artificial surfaces. That would bring some immersion into the game.

Maybe look at adding to the creation kit and allowing us to edit official teams etc. There are some awesome creators out there who have created some awesome kits, players, stadiums, logos etc which we could add into the game. The opportunity is endless if we have access to this like in your other sports titles such as Cricket 24 and Tie Break.

I know a few of those are cosmetic but opening up the community creations to allow us to edit teams and stadia would free you guys up to look at the gameplay issues and bugs. Just an idea.

Overall though I am really happy that the game is heading in the right direction. Some good patches this last few weeks have really brought the game on a lot better.

The grass textures on the console build of the game (PS5 in my case) seem to have been massively downgraded somewhere along the way. They’re now just flat and quite an eyesore to be honest. Are there any plans to fix this?

Yes, I’ve noticed that one too. Maybe somewhere along the line someone who had a build with poor grass textures was working on another issue (maybe AI gameplay) and had their build compiled with a newer build and the grass carried over?

I hope they have it somewhere on the list to get fixed. I bet they have several different builds floating around no matter how much they try to have everyone working on the latest one.

Anyhow, hope it’s fixed soon.

Played a few games, one against AI and 2 online since the new patch.

  • AI
    -I think the AI is better but realisitcally, they can only beat me when I allow it. I think the unrealistic offloads essentially allow the AI or the user to break defence lines. I do like some off the offloads but the ones from the ground should be stopped. I also would not be against not allowing offloads if your player was tackled by 2 players, as when you make a double tackle it naturally leaves the space outside empty, generally this is the easiest way to score or make breaks.

I would still like the AI to kick more, cross field kicks etc. People have mentioned momentum before, and think it should be considered. Even in the opponents half, if a team loses ground on two tackles they generally look to kick to change it up. Overall, still to easy for me to be interested in playing AI.

Online:
I guess there was no changes here but a lot of the same issues on offloads persist. You can spam offloads and it is relatively impossible for the opponent to defend it. I would love to see some effort on the online in a patch, specifically the defending. Players constantly phase through players and the automatic tackling which happens against the AI, doestn happen online, which is probably the wrong way around.

Overall, I would like to see some focus on the above and attacking/defending patterns. We are miles away from running loops and backline moves, but even the spacing (as outlined by other users here) and the running lines would make a huge difference. Similarly, and I know its small, but some sweat and dirt on jerseys would make a huge difference from an immersion perspective.
