Rugby 25 Megathread

A greater disparity in player ratings is also required I believe, the top 14 squads have like 30+ squad size and the starters are a few points better than anyone else in the that position and then everyone else seems to be rated the exact same which is a bit boring
But of variation would be nice
I know it would be tricky to do every player especially on the scale you guys have but it’s 100% a necessity

Also career mode being able to sort the extended squad( further than the bench) and have them save and stay in place please
It’s hurting my brain having to keep sorting them by position when I want to manage my squad
It appears to currently be sorted alphabetically, even if it just auto sorted by position would be nice

Also can we please get headshots of the players in game face next to their names or when you hover over them in career squad, also on the pre match squad graphic
Both appear to be missing something I feel like this would be a really nice touch

Also noticed a couple positional problems, Posolo Tuilagi not listed as a second rower and Alfie Barberry is listed as a Hooker

Something NEEDS to be fixed with the ai gameplay. 50 something missed tackles in my last match from bump offs steps and all that. Also had ONLY 15% possession. Makes it hard to win matches when you can’t tackle and can’t turn the ball over.

Strange, not seeing pixelated grass on Series S.

Two simple things that would greatly help gameplay.

  1. KICKING FIX. Make all players kick farther, gave more time to kick and Cpu kick more. This alone would set up more dynamic gameplay
  2. MAUL should push farther on one movement. They barely move a millimeter on a thrust. Mauls should be much more powerful.

PITCH ART for all competitions would make an incredible impression on the look of this game and make it more attractive to play.

Game is still fundamentally broken and at this point the collective patience is very thin I am sure.

If you receive the kickoff, chances are you’ll win by a solid margin as Ruck turnover isn’t a thing and provided you don’t kick away possession or a janky bit of code results in a turnover (offload being blown up as offside or a pass into touch that is so quick the game doesn’t even register what happened).

If you don’t, there is no way to turn over the ball. Only if the ai kicks out or throws it at light speed into touch. Every run by the AI is a broken tackle, please show me one union game in the history of the sport where every single carry is 2+ broken tackles before being taken down. There is no factoring of strength, size, speed and therefore momentum being considered at all. Newton obviously didn’t exist in the alternate universe that is rugby 25.

I am sorry, but this isn’t a full release. This is EA and you are walking a very thin line of ethics to be pushing this as a released game that you’re supporting “out of the goodness of your hearts”.

I completely agree with this. It’s nice to show Big Ant support and hope for the best. But they also sold us a game that isn’t complete at all. Yes, other games have updates here and there after release, but other games are enjoyable from day 1. I honestly don’t know why and how this is allowed. I’ve bought two games from Big Ant (AFL 23 and Rugby 25) and I honestly don’t understand how you can stay afloat like this.

Hi Team.

The player 123 kg Loosehead Prop Paula Latu for Dragons in URC. This creation is way off. If this please could be corrected at some stage. If we could edit the players I would simply do this myself. Thanks

AI is much improved now, so we can actually enjoy the game while you continue working on core mechanics.

Just a couple of things that can still improve the fun element in the meantime:

  1. AI is better, but their backline attack now needs to improve, in line with previous posts on positioning and line running, so they have purposeful passes (short, long, inside, our back) to target the gaps in defense, with proper support running, next to the ball carrier, targeting the gap in defense.
  2. More AI tactical kicking, whether up and under, grubber, cross kick, deep kick etc.
  3. AI to prioritise clearing their line in defense, i.e. kicking the ball away to relieve pressure when in their own 22 meter area.
  4. Bigger likelihood of AI kicking to posts when presented with a penalty, when the ratings difference between the two teams is small, or it is a playoff game. Normal season game where there is a larger difference in ratings, higher likelihood for the higher rated team to kick for the lineout when presented with a penalty.
  5. AI to make substitutions, whether tactical or injury enforced. This should be easy.
  6. More AI penalties, especially at the ruck
  7. More AI knock-ons, introduce sliders (do not go overboard)
  8. Make Crowd size a match setting, not a graphics setting
  9. Too many missed tackles, not realistic. Tone it down. Sliders? Too many successful hand-offs
  10. Players are running out of the wrong side of the stadium. They should run out below the broadcast camera, from the main pavilion tunnel. Should be an easy fix.
  11. Fix advertising boards displaying black screens, when there are sponsorships selected in stadium creator
  12. Kicker still only using left foot to kick to touch off penalty, when he is right footed

Thanks guys and please make sure no additions break the game

Yeah I am with you, the dodge, fend off or tackle break happens on nearly every first tackle unless you get two players tackling or a rare early 100% hit I’ve noticed. I think you make a very fair and valid point, I do expect this to be addressed by the Big Ant guys.

I think this can be sorted by in game slider, I am guessing it has been done to improve the AI, what it really needed was just the AI kicking deep or box kick / more passes out wide the current AI strategy is to run down the middle at any cost.

Look at how much better the stadium looks with full adverising wrapping around the stand. When will we see this implemented in R25?

Yes it was in career mode, not sure if it also happen in friendlies.

What will it take to buy the 08/2011 engine?
They should have a price, charge extra if you have to!

On this, the RLL4 stamina system was very good too - both in reg to sprinting and throughout a match.

@JNT_BA, is there any merit in drawing RLL4 comparisons, or is it not hugely helpful on your end?

Nothing wrong with comparing. Do you find that system/balance is what you personally would enjoy more?

Massively - it feels as though it drains at a more realistic rate generally, with players gassed at the end of the game, but subs etc carrying a bit more weight. Appreciate rolling subs etc make it not perfectly apt to carry across.

That game has always been a go to for me even as a non league fan.

Passing mechanics, big hits, offloads and evasion all feel super well balanced for risk v reward too

Hi everyone

Just a few things from me again, playing on hardest difficulty, currently playing career with the Sharks.

Visually I have noticed that the crowd is wearing way more of the away team’s colours, this should be the other way around. I have mentioned in my previous comment that I would like to see a countdown from the crowd before the kickoff and I see that it is actually in the game but only in the knockout stages of the european shield, I have not gotten to the URC knockout stages yet, so I’m not sure whether it’s there, but I would like to see this more often.

The only way to win you own scrum is by frantically pressing square on playstation for the scrumhalf to pick the ball and go, otherwise the scrum collapses.

As mentioned numerous times, the fending is unrealistic and should be brought way down.

I also experience a bug where I hold in the pass button to pick where the ball should go only for the ball to shoot past everyone and out the side of the field.

I find that I am having some really close games when I ban myself from using the fend, but also get very frustrated by the lack of defence system currently, my backline drifts towards the attacking player, changing to the next player to perform a tackle is frustrating because most of the time it changes to a player way down my defence line, my fullback is almost always out of position or way down the field, and sometimes after the opposition has fended my player he gets to run around and even into my players who refuses to tackle him, probably in shock of how he just sat my defender down with yet another fend.

Drop goals do not work, the ball barely lifts of the ground and the opposition just picks it out the air causing me to lose possession and defend the length of the field which is often not long by the way the opposition finds it so easy to break my line and the fullback being nowhere.

The crowd is boring as well as the commentators, who often says the wrong things as well, like the famous roasting of you kicking a successful penalty out on the sideline or running into the “warm embrace” of a tackle, what the hell? Commentary can make or break the atmosphere of a game, please remember this, this has been the biggest reason many players lose interest in a rugby game. A simple build of excitement as someone gets close to a tryline or when kicking the winning conversion or penalty can make a big difference.

Thank you
