Rugby League 26 - Megathread

Winning mid way through the second half and then vossy saying that we’re minutes in and the games getting away from the other team is definitely jarring.

Anyone in proteams know how to do the super league challenge I had a full 17 of super league players and made sure all 17 scored a try so surely that counts as a stat but still challenge is incomplete

Sadly the game is in a poor state. There are times I am having fun, then the age old annoyances pop in and destroy the immersion.

The passing is floaty and slow, the ai only follow the ball and react instantly to a pass which due to being slow makes it almost impossible for a draw and pass.

The speeds are way off and it feels like it’s deliberate nerfing of backs to control difficulty or something. Even if you max out backs they still don’t feel or act fast.
Partly I think this is due to set play tracks giving players a boost .

The kicking is hit and miss. Lots of problems with kicker positioning and if they are on the set play track they catapult forward for no reason. The kick activate button should almost halt forward motion full stop.

Offloads are better than 4 worse than live 2

I actually don’t have much in complaints about defence. I like most of this apart from when changing players don’t work.

My biggest gripe along with rll3 is stats are linked in stupid ways. Big ant please go back to individual stats like RLL 2. It’s part of the problem with players all being fast and having stupid kicking ability. Stamina and endurance should do two separate things. One decreases how quick the speed bar diminishes when using burst and the other how long a player takes to fatigue and recover. Fatigue should decrease the speed bar more permanently until rest. How speed is linked to kicking stats is also stupid. Everything about stats since rll3 has gradually made the gameplay weaker.

I did the stupid thing today and blew the cobwebs off the old Ps3 and powered up my copy of Rll 2. Needless to say the games feel very similar yet 2 is better on the park in a lot of ways. 26 drag and drive mechanic is actually very good. But the set play focus has overtime restricted play. All we need is something similar to RLL 2, a way to drop your kicker into the pocket and a way to call a forwards play right or left and a deep backline right or left. Then the ai can figure the running lines based on field position.
A simple d pad up for fowards and down for backs , with left and right d pad for direction of play. To call for kicker into pocket L2 and you could even have d pad for type of kick position right/left of hooker, forward for closer and down for deeper position behind the hooker.

Anyway I only hope for this game to become more enjoyable for career play. I don’t do cards and never will . I also will never buy another rugby league game without decent gameplay in advance. You got me big ant, i will not return my game because as I see it this is your final chance and im supporting you to do good, fix this game and make it worth playing and if you make another, don’t hide gameplay or any such nonsense.

Which camera angle seems to work best for you guys?

Saddest part about the offloading is that pre patch they replicated it quite well, now when you offload there are random opposition players standing in the way ready for an intercept which isn’t realistic and makes you not want to try the offload.

I’d take the game a week ago over the game now.

New update like 5 minutes ago I’m not sure what it did there are no new challenges in proteams hopefully added stats during a game

Ross was asked prior to release how many gb’s the game was, ross is quoted via x that his version was 50+ gb’s

Why is it after 11 updates my version is still only 44.23 gb’s ?

I feel they had a version to release ready to go and then they were told last minute content had to be removed (nsw cup etc) for some reason and it all went pear shaped from there..

That’s how I play my games ( well watch AI v AI). It’s like watching a game on tv.

Just one thing though for the devs and any who regularly read the posts on here.

Can you implement a notification of replacements, and possibly even a cutscene showing this like in R25.

At the moment it’s hard to tell if the AI have made any replacements because there’s no mention of it happening.

Tried to do an online game on Pro Team.
Found an opponent, selecting the jerseys.
The opponent quit
Lost 1 contract for each of my players in the lineup.

I have been playing the game perfectly fine on steam pc since release, went to play tonight and it was freezing when I would load into a match, or get stuck on the loading screen and would not do otherwise. Tried like 30 times, restarted pc etc all the usual things. Still happened.
Uninstalled and reinstalled and it’s still happening. Was smooth and fine on my computer have 0 issues running other games.
And now it is just freezing and closing the game when selecting teams and not even showing the captains yet before selecting jerseys.
What could cause this?
Is this happening to anyone else? Since the latest update?

I thought something was off. I was getting decent offloads on certain driving runs, last few games it wasn’t working.

I have been playing RLL2 today, it’s got a decent amount of issues itself but I am having some fun at least. But what strikes me as a lot of the animations and feel of the game are the same, not a lot has changed even over 12 years or so. The one thing it gets absolutely right is when you get a roll on, you can break up the defense and they struggle to get back on side, you can get fast play the balls that generate momentum. Then there are the usual dud things like balls going to the wrong person or bouncing straight up in the air for no reason and intercepts that frustrate haha

I also booted up rll3 on PC today, there were improvements and steps back there also. The tackle charging was a great addition. I need to give it a bit more time but there seemed to be issues with fast forwards and wonky stats starting there.

My biggest issue with the use of the same engine is that absolutely nothing seems to have been done with it. There seems to be no improvements, the commentary has gotten substantially worse from RLL2/3 >4>26. So much has been removed and nothing really added over time. Just give me a free flowing game of footy with a decent kicking and passing game. If you can’t draw and pass it’s not footy.

Seems fine on Steam for me at moment.

Anyone any idea to get contracts for emerald/sapphire players in pro team? contract hunting is eating up any FP i have gambling on 0.5% or 7% chance in the contract packs

Are the Pro Team challenges working on your side ?

I can’t see any progress for the “Backs Tries”, “Forwards Tries”, “Through The Tiers” etc, they remain at 0.

On Xbox I’m sure mine is 59.

Same here, broadcast balanced has always been my preferred view. I am noticing on that view that field markings and the bench players are not orientated correctly, I am currently compiling a list of all the stadiums I identify then submit a ticket.
I try and play the game as close as i can to the real thing, just wanting AI to do the same thing and be able to identify weaknesses in my play style and adapt to exploit opportunities, not do some unrealistic pass or offload to gain an advantage. I dont play to win necessarily, I play for the feel of the contest so then a win feels like a reward. AFL26 I think does this well as long as you try and play realistically and not exploit some cheat method.

I have three green but 0 blue. They indicate the % of chance to pack the colors. It seems silver is around 80%, gold 15%, green 5% and blue 0,5%

There really needs to be a way to break the defence up more. Whether it be from adding compressed defence to create bigger holes either side of the ruck to take advantage of by quicker play the ball and faster passing or by mixing up the speed players move latterally to maybe match forward and back movement speed to create holes or maybe by maybe having support players running at gaps more timed so when you run the ball at the line and time the pass right you can get players through the line more frequently. Add a slower turn and chase.

Even things like forwards hitting the ball flat at speed from the play the ball and players in general hitting passes flatter and at speed can be improved to help give the attacking game more of an advantage over a very tight defense and add more ways to break the line without the need for right stick moves.All things that can be tweaked.

Its crazy that everything almost listed here happens in RLL2.

A lot of it come down to the play the ball, yesterday if I made a strong run in the middle or a half break the defense collapsed. You could get very fast play the balls that left both defenders on the ground, while AI was still getting onside. It makes you feel like your not relying on cheese plays.

I want to give 26 a bit of a compliment though the cross field goal line kicking is so much better. I have been using the punt kick instead of bomb as a cross field kick close to the line and my wings or centers have sprinted onto the ball to go over if the kick is placed right. You can’t do this on RLL2 or 3 as the kick is to low.

I still wish they used the slow motion of the original series for kicking with a trajectory indicator. Would be awesome to manual input height and put some curve on some kicks. It doesn’t need to be op, just enough to create the feel of kicking in league. If no slow mo turn of the left trigger and allow a single button for punt, bomb and grubber with bumpers/triggers for height and curve. The current kick timing thing is useless anyway.
