Rugby League 26 - Megathread

The Women’s gameplay is absolutely fantastic. So much fun. Holy Mackerel!
Women’s Origin, 15 minute halves, 4 tackle sets, no scrums, 40/20s and 20/40s turned on.
Outstanding work BA :clap: please no drastic changes or nerfing on the Women’s gameplay side of things. Cheers

Just played tonights 60 minute game on pro mode. Check out the missed tackles. I might give all the opposition teams an extra 5 for tackles and see if it lowers theirs and helps stop some more of the linebreaks. Almost there i think.

I’ve been playing AI v AI default on 20 minute halves and it’s very entertaining.

I was thinking of going for a full 80 minute match and see how it goes.

It would be nice if there is a slider set of some sorts in the future. I’m not so good at creating sliders so if anyone does create a set for the AI I’d be happy to try them out.

But yea I’m having fun with the game so far :+1:

15/20 minute halves men’s NRL:

  • Acceleration skill - Minus 12
  • Sprint Speed skill - Minus 12
  • Sidestep skill - Minus 20

30/40 minute halves men’s NRL:

  • Acceleration skill - Minus 15
  • Sprint Speed skill - Minus 15
  • Sidestep skill - Minus 30*

This is what I’m going with at the moment across all players NRL, tweaking individual player skills. Feel the game plays/looks better at a bit of a slower pace. Haven’t had any experience Ai v Ai though.

*Sidestep skills may be a little too low after tweaks on certain individual players. For eg. Joash Papalii Eels Sidestep skill becomes 38 after taking 30 skill points away. Feel low to mid 40’s might be the lowest limit on players with the sidestep skill but need to do some more testing.

Haven’t messed around with the more physical skills yet. Really like the fends, break tackles, big hits in the game!

**Would love to actually lower Acceleration and Sprint speeds even further, Minus 20 or more. Game feels great this slowed down BUT the way the stamina depletes players lose their Sprint in the back field after a break too quickly. An option to turn off fatigue/stamina depletion would be unreal so all players are full green 100% at all times.

Also would be cool to have a free agent market so you can sign players mid season like the rugby league 3 game on the wii

Will there eventually be all jerseys in the game? e.g heritage jerseys and brisbanes black jersey

You would think in this day and age that devs could sort out something as simple as this kick off/forward pass bug?

Don’t get me wrong I’m no developer, but you guys (devs) are professional developers and are paid as such. Or you should be paid.

I guess your following orders? Well the higher ups need to understand Rugby League.

On a better note, I have noticed that BetFred League 1 now have the appropriate football, a shame that the BetFred Championship are still using an NRL ball. Nvm.

Certain teams are still without their stadiums, field markings are missing for the UK pitches, a long with ad boards etc.

A lot of teams don’t have their correct updated squads (any chance we could edit these ourselves?)

I know I know there’s a list as long as your arm with stuff to do. However, if you provided a road map of stuff that is planned (hopefully?) then it would save us lot from constantly asking question after question.

There’s a small matter of certain gameplay aspects that require working on too.

I know we are now in the age of games being released half completed (can’t imagine why?). Don’t worry that’s not a pop at you guys as all companies do that these days. But, surely us as the customers who are paying our hard earned money, should be kept in the loop regarding things? Or not as the case may be?

Anyway I shall shut up for now, I know I’ve just wasted about 5 minutes typing this to you guys. It’s just witnessing the bloody kick off forward pass again for about the 6th time today I felt like ranting.

I’m talking out of character know, but rather than remain quiet I thought I’d say something.

Just quickly when is the next patch? Oh and yes I’m not.having a go at community forum devs btw, I know you guys don’t do the programming.

They still do sidesteps, fends, offloads when set to zero. The big hits improve when you add a bit more to their skills. More players do them. I like the look of them as well and applaude it when i get smashed by one..hahaha.
Way more realistic in my humble opinion.
Getting those missed tackles below 40 for the opposition has been the biggest achievement. A few more tweaks and hopefully i get the linebreaks down below 30.

New update happening, Aussie folks let me know if its biblical. Sounds like a decent sized 1 with plenty going into it.
You lucky swines over their seem to be getting a whole new wardrobe to choose from before kick off :slight_smile:

When doing the BIG HIT R3 press, should be called a dominant tackle and we should be able to lie all over the player. Currently it’s the fastest play the ball in the game, after an R3 hit. Needs fixing
Game has come a long way pro team needs all the retro jerseys, NSW cup teams, jerseys, players, stadiums, and legendary players.
Broadcast far is on the wrong side of the field opposite the tunnel and media all the field markings are upside down so the marketing isn’t working from the broadcast camera, so it’s not really broadcast is it, it’s just a side cam from the wrong side of the field. It’s easily the best camera in the game, but needs polishing

Can anyone confirm if the cowsboys indigenous jersey has been added? All other teams have theirs.

Ross said on Twitter that they don’t yet have clearance for additional NQ Cowboys kits.
Same for super league 3rd kits it would seem

Bit of a bummer :confused: hope that can get sorted for the fans

First game since the latest patch and I don’t want to speak too soon, however, I had no forward passes off the kick off.

Also for the first time in game had a goal line dropout whereby the player looking to catch the ball fumbled and knocked on.

From the resulting scrum the other team did run a try in to add insult to injury haha :joy:

It’s only one game but for me I enjoyed it. I don’t know if anymore as been added to the game or has it just been gameplay fixes and stability?

I don’t know if it’s just me but since the latest update, my gameplay has nose dived! I’m on amateur and can’t seem to score tries again anymore! My players positioning is totally off too! Shame because tonight was the first time i just had to turn the PS5 off in frustration and disappointment.
Anyone else?

I’m finding that in a competition I’d already started (in which my team was in good form having won nearly all their games), that the game still played reasonably well in that I was able to score tries and have a good competitive game.

In Play Now however which isn’t based off old saves, form etc, I found it similar to your experience. On Amateur it had become MUCH harder to score. The AI was playing at times very smartly and back to taking interecepts off offloads (by lingering close to offside). My own team was not supporting the ball carrier as well as I’d seen in recent patches. Fend seemed a lot harder to do, so was back to using mostly sidestep.

Yeah that’s a good point, the AI behavior was obviously inversed for a while back then. Will give it a crack soon!

Is anyone else having issues trying to find online matches? Everytime I click quick match the timer will come up then after a few seconds say error but no code is present?

I’ve reinstalled the game and deleted the cache off the ps with no luck

I have no other issues with other online games just this one!

Gameplay feeling really good and fast with update 1.29, game has a lightness in its feel to me which I really like, player movement feels sharp, think the general speed of the play the ball and the tackle animation variations has improved so much for the most part. When the ruck is working as it should the game has a great flow to it, works so well with 4 and 5 tackle set footy.

Still a few issues at times with the AI hooker getting caught up at the ruck with offside marker(s), AI kicking into own team mates, some AI forward pass issues at times and offloading still causing both teams to retreat and come to a stop.

Really good work BA cheers, looking forward to what comes next.

What I would love is an option to turn off the bomb catching circle and also the field goal metre. Don’t really like the on-screen prompts/clutter, please consider having both of these visuals as options to be turned off. Cheers

I will try it on pro and see if it plays better. Was a real shame as I was scoring some incredible tries on the previous version with great footwork, support play & running lines. It felt like a massive step in the right direction.
The most recent patch seemed to take it back to the dark days of having to abuse the sidestep to make any metres or score tries.

  • No support play in attack
  • Poor positioning in attack and on kicks
  • My players constantly offside in D, especially at the ruck.
  • Game seemed generally more buggy and glitchy.
  • My main gripe is the AI can do things in the game, both in attack and D, that I simply cannot.

Anyway, rant over. We go again tonight! Fwiw, I’m loving this game so far and I can sense the potential in it. Hopefully for the 2026 season we have the full game unleashed!
