Rugby League 26 - Megathread

Oh yeah, those absolutely exist. Video proof right there. But this does not happen every time. Those are some really bad examples  SO I guess we can say yes …definitely needs tweaking. I wouldn’t want them them to OP it though so it ends up in the games where every pass down the line is an overlap and results in a score. That was a problem that plagued most older rugby games. That and ridiculous offload ability.

I don’t really take clips to be fair because you can’t post them in here anyway. Normally chuck a dodgy GIF in here. Maybe I will have a go at recording some. Lets see lol. Steam records everything so I am sure I can rustle a few up.

As for the sideline yeah … you may be onto something. In those clips it almost looks as though the winger thinks he has run out of room to support the runner so just stays in behind him.

I don’t want your version lol.

Heres a winger usual position GIF (May need to CTRL and + to see it properly lol)

I need to confess that I had to rage quit my first game in career mode!.. Was playing as Hull FC in 5th place on the ladder vs Salford (bottom of the ladder).
You know that feeling when you can tell the AI will win no matter what?
I was up 13-0 at HT and only touched the ball for two sets in the second half where I passed an offload forward and the other set I lost the ball in a big hit. Just felt like I could not stop the opposing AI no matter what. High tackles, accidental knock ons, the whole lot
I’m massively enjoying the game but need some time. Will try again tomorrow :joy:

Thing that irritates me the most about online play its ā€œdoing anything you can to winā€ , i dont care if I lose its not like I lose my livelihood. I play for the contest and feel to try and play it out like a real match, executing plays, tactical kicking etc.. if side steps, fend and shoulder bursts were not so effective might get players playing in a way to exploit gaps and play for field position etc…

Yeah nice clips man, really like that second short side raid, the ball first off the ruck was gold.
Tried a few games in broadcast, feel it might take a few more to properly get used to but I didn’t mind it at all. Nice change.
I’ve been almost abusing the double-tap flat pass of late, gets the support engaged much better, making sure to hit the 2nd rowers & centres with it in particular, seeing a lot of moments where my ball reciever gets flattened without the ball but seems the only way to get my wingers moving.
First clip below a bit heartbreaking no advantage played on the late high tackle was a proper ā€˜shut the gate’ moment. Playing for the next one. Cheers

Edit- an option in the settings menu to turn off the video ref altogether would be great and all cutscenes to be skippable at any time too

Yeah those are some nice tries in your vid too. Shame about them not being allowed to play advantage when it involves dangerous play. I guess it is good it is replicated in game though? Not for that try though

I find broadcast far best, I know you can see the gaps to run into easiest from end on but there is just something about seeing the whole pitch that I like. I will have to try that double tap flat pass out. I keep forgetting about it! Sounds like it helps a bit in line breaks?

Starting to find a lot more balance, success and enjoyment with it (double-tap pass) in my game, really helping in open-play long-shifts across the ground.

Find if I can use one or two of them on long shifts (outside of the dummy half pass) before the ball gets to the centre then my wing/three-quarters are keeping up with the play more frequently. Not always, but a hell of a lot more.
Seems so obvious. Have always used the flat double-tap but not in this way.. Just playing a few games absolutely abusing it has really helped. I’m starting to think 2 or 3 passes in advance now and knowing I have to use it to give the ouside players that ā€˜push’ forward, if that makes any sense lol.

Just really enjoyed this little moment with Addo-Carr in a game I’m currently playing. Showed the ball with a held R1 pass and fooled the defender. Not sure if the missed tackle was tied to the earlier step in a way, but either way looks cool and something I’ll be trying more and more. Can’t say I’ve seen this one before. Credit to BA a lot can change in 24hrs and with a different mindset!

Nice, is there a dummy pass? I can’t see it in controls and when I try and do it like in R25 I end up passing it when I didn’t want too

That’s cool finding a way to adapt your play. I agree that getting the ball to your wings with quicker flatter passes seems to be the way to go, draw and pass only works if you run at a slight angle I found but your winger still ends up congested or just getting hit immediately after receiving the ball a lot of the time that way.

So if I think the defence is thinner out on the flanks I tend to skip it along the line until the outside centre and then there is usually either a chance for you to hold the pass and go in outside of your defender but inside their winger, or when there winger seems to jam in push that last pass and your winger gets on the outside.

Pre loading the pass works really well down a short blindside too. Have regular success with that one.

I find this one way more enjoyable than RLL4, a nice evolution from it. Well done BA.

The old dummy pass hold L1+tap R1 (or visa versa) is still there but honestly I never use it because of the delayed sidestep animation that is attached to it. Would be nice if this could change and we can just continue on our run after dummying.
Another nice short-side try, I like the defenders effort on the try scorer in your last clip

Edit- bit of inspiration, nice to take advantage of the short numbers on the blind, all four passes double-tapped btw, can excuse a touch of warping on the Cows defender. Cheers Val

That is a fire try.

Yeah I thought that was the dummy pass but it never comes off for me lol. Maybe I am holding the opposite bumper too long idk.

Off to try out some of those double taps.

Good luck with it dude will be interested to see how you go!

I scored 1 with Sam Walker for Roosters. 1st receiver, had men out wide but threw the dummy then side stepped into the gap.

The animation looked very clean too. Was my last game before turning it off.

Will try again later tonight & see if it wasnt a fluke

A flat pass then Double tap L1/R1 is definitely good for line breaks. Your players run much better lines ive noticed.

I like the uninterrupted running whilst executing a dummy idea , moreso that a fatigued defender actually be animated to turn away and slide towards the direction of the dummy creating a line break opportunity rather than the side step animation would create a greater sense of realism.

Good to know! Thanks! I have been trying a few things out and been scoring some absolute scorchers especially now I had learned how to push the offload a bit more in the right scenarios. I will keep trying peoples suggestions … they seem to work wonders tbf.

Game is just so fun to play! Just such contrasting emotions to Rugby 25 ha ha. This game I can’t wait to see what else they tweak or add … it’s exciting. Rugby 25 … not at all excited anymore  thank god for RL26 :folded_hands:

This is one thing Rugby 25 has that is really good, you can sell a dummy and just keep sliding through the gap. No step etc. That step only ever comes in if there is a tackler that engages you immediately as you are going to do it. Maybe they should take a look at that code and apply it to RL26.

The defender did get sold the dummy, they went towards where the pass should of been going. Sam Walker scooted by before the prop could do anything.

Too big & Walker too small & fast do anything.

I have started to offload less when falling backwards. its a 50/50 whether its going to go forward on not. Not worth the risk when in your own 30 or less.

Another for gaining decent yards is the dummy from dummy half pass right then change to left. Not huge most of the time but gives you some good momentum in the drive.

The more I’m playing with my newly found method of pre-loading double-tap passes, the more I’m noticing shifts don’t work quite as well or as cleanly in the first couple of tackles of a set - which is a really good thing BA.

Clip below you see tackle one, the play gets away from me after the offload. The long double-tap pass and the following double-tap cutout-pass to the left winger is quite extreme lol but sets things in motion. Clip highlights how support works with preloading tap-taps.
First draw and pass on the fullback, more to come.
Just look how quick The Fox gets back on his skates to get back in support on the final pass. Beautiful man
