Rugby League 26 - Megathread

Playing a game right now in which my winger easily outran a second rower for a try, fantastic! This is how the game should be.

My players were running with me in support also, not sure if that has been recently patched or good luck but it actually looked like Rugby League with my lock forward breaking away, drawing the winger and setting his own winger up for a 40 metre dash to the try line.

Good job!

Update 1.21 - really like the AI offloading a bit more, nice to see them make ground other than stepping. Finding the AI changing running direction a bit more, little slight changes left and right, also nice to see. Have had more knock-ons/ball spillages from big hits, positive. Feel AI defence has improved after a long punt/kick chase but only played a couple of games so far..

Wingers and centres support play still very problematic, backing away from the ball carrier, 10-20 metres too deep.
Below clip should be an easy draw and pass try centre to winger on the try line, winger has 8 metres of corridor to work with. Should be tight on the centres hip not stationary behind the play.

Unleash the wingers, BA! Time to have some fun down the sidelines please

Just played my 1st match with the latest patch on coach career. Feels like a totally different game in a good way.
Really enjoyed it.
My players & the Ai are running a lot better lines, and are running through the big holes without a defender skating over & blocking it off.
Speeds of players look much better.
Love the way passes look when you step and pass. Nice & flat while players are trying to burst through.
Quality update for me folks :blue_heart:

They should add/move quick play of the ball to another button like the right trigger.

They have now fixed the incorrect rule regarding change overs within 10m of the tryline, which is great. Still hoping for the short/contested dropouts.

Would love for the wingers/centers to come infield for a hit up during tackles 1 and 2. Make it more realistic. Especially the set play that they line the two forwards up next to each other on an inward and outward route. Replacing one of the forwards with a winger/centre from either side (ON TACKLE 1 and 2), would be awesome.

The support you get from your team when you make a break is much better now ive noticed. Always at least 1 man near enough to get a pass away to when FB comes towards you.

Passing seems cleaner when in those certain situations too.

Also actual running with the ball when holding sprint. Seems like you can kinda bend your run slightly when running across your own line into a gap.

Feels great in my opinion. Look forward to what they have planned in the next “major” update to improve it even more.

Hey @JNT_BA could we get a patch thread like rugger 25 please

Would be good to know if in an upcoming patch we might be able to get season stats in competition mode. Right now you can’t see who the leading try scorers are and all the other relevant season stats. Nor is there anything like end of season awards players etc. Just stats for individual matches and man of the match.

Hope that is coming along at some stage.

I want alternative jersey selection in manager mode. Why is this not available yet

How do people play this game online it’s terrible.

Its bad enough players warping all over the place offline but you add this to online play and it’s a disaster.

Ggs to those who love it though.

i may be blinded by my excitement that an actual rugby league game has been made :joy:

I get why people moan when you compare it with other sports games.

Not the best but not as bad as i thought it potenatially was going to be.

i think by the time they bring another game out in the next 2-3 years (hopefully like Cricket & AFL) all the major bugs & glitches are ironed out.

Shall see, Up the League :raised_fist:

I’ve been shocked at how good and stable it’s been so far tbh. Probably because it’s been ‘relatively’ popular but most games have been stable at 30ms ping ish and it’s not felt too dissimilar to offline play. I’m UK based if that’s any relevance

One thing I’ve found with all these updates I’ve had to delete my saved game file after every patch..
Game stutters, performance issues but after a delete it clears things up. Thankfully I haven’t touched pro teams yet lol ps5

I’ve played a dozen or so games and every one has been bad.

It’s just annoying. I’m sorry to come across bad but I really want to play online and it just isn’t a good experience for me so far. :frowning:

Good job Big Ant fun game getting better with each update. Would like to see.

  1. Ability to kick the grubber further
  2. More variations of putting the ball down, and more variations of preventing the player from putting the ball down, with closer video ref replays that you really do have to see the replay to see what happened.
  3. The occasional user dummy half speed up run that catches the AI offside, AI can do it we should be able to do it as well.
  4. A more define system for how to catch up and unders.
  5. One on one ball strips.
  6. A more defined high and low tackle button with each having it risk vs reward
  7. Make holding player down more risk vs reward, longer you hold player down ,more time you have getting your team onside, the more dominant the tackle is the more you can hold on.

Complimented Big Ant the other day because I thought support players were finally a thing but have noticed that it isn’t and that centres and wingers still remain 10-15 metres behind the play, had a game earlier today where my centre tried to set up the winger in the corner for a try but instead the winger was 25 metres behind the play just standing there.

Just don’t use speed burst as you are going through the hands from the ruck and you’ll be able to put the winger away in a lot of those situations?

Works for me anyway, have scored some belters in the corner. Couple of nice long range winger tries too.

So the 11 other players work and can easily support while sprinting but the wingers cannot/aren’t allowed to?

I’ve put in 40hrs of gameplay and the wingers and centres (but mainly wingers) are 99% of the time pathetic in attack, with or without sprinting.

You’re honestly saying they’re working fine and it’s user error? Lol

Clearly not what I was saying. Although sure, could be user error too how do I know? lol.

The question mark at the end of my first sentance shows it is a question as in a possibility and not a statement. The fact I say “works for me anyway” means I know from Rugby25 other platforms, builds or views in camera even can affect things so maybe it won’t for you.

But yes, I am saying my wingers are good on attack much of the time for me, I get overlaps sometimes, I beat the opposite winger one on one regularly. Why would I write something is happening in my game if it isn’t lol.

As for “working fine” that depends on what each person considers as working fine doesn’t it, so I wouldn’t know for you. If you want a pass to the end of the backline get auto overlap and score in the corner simulator then I guess no it is not fine?

If you are saying it needs to be tweaked … sure, could do? other lad seemed frustrated so was just trying to help :slightly_smiling_face: :raising_hands:

EDIT:*I should note I only play at Pro level on PC using Broadcast camera far. Maybe that also has something to do with it.

Fair enough. Would love to experience what you’re playing then! lol
and would also love to see some clips if you can share here of good outside support play?
I feel like I have over 100 clips already saved where my wingers and centres are 15-20 metres too deep, running away from the ball and even turning around facing the wrong way lol
thanks for helping I’m just dying of boredom and want to see some fun down the sidelines and a bit of reward for good attacking shift play and catching the defence short of numbers ?

First clip close to the line, no sprint involved (no room to even run really) winger not even trying to keep up with the play with a ton of room on the centres hip

Second clip, actual champagne footy but keep a close eye on the left winger Jenkins again when he comes on screen. He stops twice and is deadset irrelevant. Again can’t just keep up along side with the centre ? 15 metres too deep.

I swear there is a coding problem here with the sideline lol

Edit - might have to give your broadcast angle a go, cheers
