In my opinion it just doesn’t work. I tried it in multiple different situations. Hold down X/A and double tap L2/LB, not holding down X/A and double tapping L2. The system doesn’t work. Frankly your defensive line should retreat and markers stand square for 99% of defensive play, like what happens every weekend in SL and NRL games. Fed up of the constant battle with this game at times; takes all the fun out of playing!
I think it’s best to use when getting gang tackled or if you’re on your back. I’ve managed to get a couple penalties in these situations, you’ll see your player struggle to get up a little longer than usual. I don’t think there is a negative.
They still need to fix holding players down from our pov, Players still stand around and stare instead of getting the defensive line set.
Can’t edit players positions with new update?
In coach mode you can’t select your own squad when you are coach of a representative team with the new update it selects the players itself and most of them I’ve never heard of
The second rowers being on the inside of the five-eighth and halfback in attack is making the attack very clunky
Can you please nerf the fend soon. It is way over powered compared to the other options. Almost everyone I play now is fending with ease, it completely ruins the experience.
Yes sort of pointless to hold the player down, should give your line more time to set up, particularly on dominant tackles, it seems when you do this it works against you , your tackler goes offside more often, is this normal in Rugby league? Although I like watching both codes, I’ve only played rugby. So not sure if that is the norm.
And from what I see grubber kicks, do go further than the game depicts? Why did they make the distance on grubbers so limited? Wouldn’t it add an extra level of skill to try to time the distance?.

Having said all that I am enjoying the game just a couple frustrating things.
Something I’ve noticed more while playing is the AI controlled defensive line seems to move all at the same speed and much faster than players do individually on attack for both user and AI which is really unfair.
It at least explains why the defense covers sideline to sideline so well.
It’s weird, the defensive line moves too fast left , right and down and retreating back the 10 but moves slower when a line break is made. And warping tackles makes cover defending even stronger.
I reckon if the player speeds on attack were matched to defense in every direction the game could open up a lot more naturally because it will create gaps and space to attack as players struggle to either retreat or slide and compress at their proper speed but at the same time it would be much fairer and more realistic and allow for a more tactical approach in that you could target holes or slower players in the defensive line and make defense a bit more scrambly but also create many more try scoring opportunities.
Also noticed that when AI is in attack the play typically involves simple hit ups and couple passes along back line but have not yet witnessed AI executing plays that are available to users… would be great to see.
How do I relist expired cards on the auction house? Or at least get them back in my club?
I said this in the Rugby thread. Custom plays is the next evolution of Rugby League and Union gaming. I’ve been saying this for 13 years and I have proof.
Imagine being able to create plays for both AI and user that set up by themselves depending on what area of the field you are and be able to create a play for every tackle of a set of six on a 3 wide by 5, 20m x 20m grid. Would be insanely cool and what is needed now in my opinion if realism is to be a goal in the future.
Imagine creating all of your favorite teams best plays you see on TV as close to exact as you can and be able to practice them over and over to refine them then save them all and play against them…man it would be awesome.
Everytime the opposition offloads the footy all my players are offside
Need to either slow the AI play the ball speed down or something cos the markers not being square when they are thing is really killing the game for me.
I dunno what to do, they get square but the yellow marker doesn’t go away. I hold player down give plenty of time to get square but yellow offside marker stays on. So annoying.
It’s like the second marker isn’t properly locking into place behind the first marker so is still in defend mode thus the offside marker stays on after a tackle is made and when players are retreating. It’s weird.
Yeah that’s a new one they have bungled trying to fix something else.

Game is unplayable at this point it’s actually embarrassing. As soon as the opponent gets past one of my players all of a sudden all my players (yes all of my players) are all offside? Because of that it’s constant six agains!! There always seems to be an issue every time there’s an update. Do you guys even check the game at all before releasing the update or you can’t be assed ? Cause at this point it’s become an actual joke
Not able to proceed in online custom match once teams are selected, “Info, there was a problem setting up the match”. Have to wait for timer to run out to proceed but as of late, the game isnt loading us into a match at all, cannot play a game with my friend at all. (Xbox)
If some from big ant actually reads these posts please fix when a defender hits the ball with his hand and propels the ball forward I believe it’s called a knock on one of the most basic things in rugby league and rugby I believe after this happens in the sport a scrum is the result for both codes
One of the cool features EA FC 26 has included is being able to turn off Stadium shadows.
Would be a welcome addition to this game.
