The only thing missing is in the HARD AND EXPERT difficulty modes.
The ball speed is really too fast, so much so that often after our serve, the iA return the ball very speed and power to the baseline or to us, and we don’t even have time to move to hit the ball. The rythm is far too fast for real.
At the moment I’m watching a Laver Cup match in real and the ball speed is exactly the same as in the Medium mode in Tie break game
So if you could just reduce the ball speed slightly in HARD and Expert, that would be perfect.
But please don’t touch anything else, everything else is perfect, they move very well, they vary a lot, the iA is very pleasant.
Just reduce the ball speed in Hard and Expert modes and it’ll be perfect.
AI does have to stop putting most of the short slice shots into the net though as they keep hitting flat shots instead of topspin to lift the ball, otherwise everything you said is spot on.
sooo…i tried Normal difficulty(just played hard and expert before and didn’t give normal difficulty attention) and to my surprise…you are right and i am shaking my head to be honest! It plays more “realistic” on normal as you said! On normal the AI shot selection much more prefers top spin shots…this is why it feels more realistic and slower. They still have issues on short balls(slices) but it’s clear that the difficulty balance is very off in this game. Expert feels too fast because AI spamming flat 95 percent of the time. Conclusion: I think it’s much more important to work on game mechanics as we said so often…Risk/Reward for player to make it harder that way…Serve/Return…as we said Return is overpowered and Serving isn’t really an Advantage…plus sliders are definitely needed!
This is what i am thinking,Medium difficulty is much more realistic and it is great that the team finally has the cpu running smoothly out wide and getting back to the center of court without pausing.
i really hope they will adjust hard and Expert mode with the same rythm medium difficulty.
For others players who play on Expert like us, try Normal mode now, you will be surprise.
Here When you serve, Ai don’t return with Bazooka shot on base line
On expert mode the Ai did that, rally is unrealistic, we cant hit the ball because we don’t have time to move and hit the ball. The Ball speer in Hard and expert is insane.
Try to compare with tennis match. I did that today and really Medium mode is THE PERFECT rythm. Ball speed is perfect here. Ai play well, use lift, flat, slice…
And yes, with Sliders, we can adjust that if they give us possibility.
Nope. There aren’t programmed routines in the AI that allow them to play dropshots for example! I think it’s actually funny because when you look at the official steam page you can read “Each professional women’s and men’s player from Novak Djokovic to Nick Kyrgios, and Iga Swiatek to Caroline Wozniacki, has been studied with minute detail to reproduce their signature techniques and strategies, immersing players into the core essence of WTA and ATP play.” xDDD sure they have their animations but there is NOTHING in the game that simulates how they play in real life xD to be honest i don’t know if that counts as False Advertising??? xD
Perfect… No double faults, no risk in timing can red line the timing meter and still hit winners… You ain’t ever going to please everyone so just add sliders so people who enjoy it currently can keep this balance and for people who want to have a challenge they can reduce the timing sliders and make it challenging. Your afl , cricket sliders probably best in the business for ability to change so much to tailor the experience so this game desperately needs them …
I’ve had an answer by email about the ball speed in hard and expert mode and also about the backhand style not applied to our created player. They’re sending this to the development team.
Thank you very much Big Ant for listening to us and doing your utmost to make the game even better every week.
I hope they are onto the Female Chair Umpire with no sound and having to keep restarting to get the male umpire. It is good you are getting answers from the team.
Have you played the latest patch 25th Sept with the 2 new female players, this patch to me is the best patch easily and the speed on hard and expert has been fixed with the cpu using more topspin shots than flat shots even doing slice shot return of serves more often. To me Zverev and Taylor Fritz were hitting all flat shots into the net and now they are using topspin much more and even using topspin to get back some dropshots, other players are disagreeing with me saying there is no change which is crazy as i could not handle the speed of the game before now i have no problems.
@JNT_BA
As for the main thing, which is the hits to the AI line in expert.
I mean that in practically 100% of the cases, the AI hits the rest to the baseline, even if you make a powerful or weak serve, it has no influence. And not only to the rest, but in rallies it also happens, although not in 100% of the hits as it happens in the rest.
That is logically not realistic at all and it also influences the pace of the rallies, making everything faster at times. It is something that happens at an expert level, also in hard, although to a lesser extent. And in the middle there is no problem with that, but what happens is that this level is too easy. As I have said before, for me this is the only thing that prevents this from being a truly great tennis game.
If they can solve this we would have a good tennis game today
Would help if the ai made double faults or hit the ball wide or long in rallys . I mean just tennis basics that unfortunately don’t exist in this game and destroy any sense of realism. Even though I think this game is the best tennis game available but you seriously can’t have a tennis game that have neither of those things and start calling it perfect or great game . It has the potential but needs to get the basics sorted, both missing features were present in early access so not sure how they have been lost but desperately needs them back asap .
