TIEBREAK - Megathread

Agree, we have NO ADVANTAGE to serve.

On clay, the sound of the mouvements is VERY BAD :grimacing:

Please add ALL courts (ATP 500/250) on exhibition mode

Please add US Open outfits for Alcaraz and Asian tour for all players

in clay you must move go further back with high rebound

first impressions after the new update are overall positive but it’s a mixed bag xD Rallies feel pretty good. Shot balance feels good no shot is really the best or the worst imo. AI has still some issues on drop shots but are better now on slices. You gave us back the ability to aim closer to the lines! Very good! Personally i still think the red overpowerd shot should go out all of the time but i am sure others think different here?? Some cool stats adjustments and cosmetics when it comes to presentation(for example player animation right after a point) Biggest Issue in mechanics is still Serve/Return. I think serve is even more a disadvantage now xD The idea to make the timing more important is not bad but not really implented in a meaningfull way. We and AI still have 90-95 percent first serves in. If you have good or perfect timing doesn’t really make a difference because Return is still overpowered(maybe you have a return patch at hand tomorrow but who knows?). Serve mechanics aren’t satisfying. Not blocks or bad returns etc. Other cosmetics arent still there. There is still that ugly jumping forehand in the game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYSCv4Fv7S4 still no appologies with net ball winner. Murray still doesn’t have the right Serve Animation. Btw i played against Murray(expert) and he just served 140-160 km/h serves xD don’t know if this is a bug or overall issues with the new serve timing mechanic. Replays aren’t good(No TV presentation…Weird camera angles). IMO Soundesign of the Strokes could be punchier especially hard flat serves and perfect timed shots! Early Access 1 actually had “punchier” sounddesign if i remember it right? Plus 1 to the idea to have all Stadiums in Exhibition! Thats it from the top of my head right now. Overall i think it’s not far from a state where i really would recommend it to other tennis game fans. Get that Serve/Return stuff right

So i don’t use the serving meter normally but i switched it on to see what is going on as i cannot get any speed or aiming accuracy, can you tell me what color is perfect timing as above comment says green is medium power which i thought was the perfect timing

I’m playing the career mode with a new player in expert mode. I just start the first season and i already win a challenger and beat alcaraz in the first round of Rotterdam 500 76 62. Just incredibile and not realistic, but the way i won the match was quite absurd. Alcaraz never hold a single service turn, just cause he wasn’t able to play near the net. I return his serve slice near the net, he runs to recover the ball and give me a easy ball to pass him at the net. Too easy, too simple. I almost never hold my serve too. Not only a problem of Alcaraz, alle the player i met didn’t manage to play a volley.

Probably all first round matches in career are easy regardless of player

Spent most of the day checking out the new patch:

Serving speed is now I think a problem……too slow even on a perfectly (white icon) timed serve………hit the corners and still no chance of an ace. There is really no benefit to serving. I’ve been broken more than ever and I just break back right away.

They really need to make the timing of the shots way more of a bigger part of the game…… it is still if you power up EARLY enough and don’t go overboard the shot will be fine…….where it really should be if you power up too early your ball should have a higher chance of going long or wide and powering up and releasing too late the ball will go into the net. Full ace and TE has this mechanic and BAs other games (cricket) does too. Doesn’t make sense that it isn’t a big factor in tiebreak.

With a 2.2 gb update on ps5 that I received, seems like more animations have been added which looks really good. Federer has an additional forehand animation ‘sometimes’ which looks good and I suspect it gets played in a lesser powered shot…….but with the issue of having a fully powered shot too easy to make it doesn’t get used as much as it should.

Ai deals with short balls and slices better now. Their variety in shots has increased too.

Generally a good update. Timing and being punished for being too early or late in starting a shot REALLY needs to play a bigger factor in future updates.

But yeah good job Big Ant

I don’t use the serving meter as it makes matters worse just the visual of the toss and i have got 1 ace down the center max speed for Alcaraz but most times i just can only get medium speed and the flicking and holding directional for aiming is also way harder. This updat also lost us 2 players Popyrin and Gadecki for some reason.

Ok but alcaraz is rating 92 and i’m 45…he’s top player 3 in the world i’m 250…i can’t beat him so easily in a 500 tournament, and he has to hold is service turn not lose al of them. The cpu players are not able to play the volley, they don’t even try to hit one ball near the net

After this update, there was sometimes a bug in doubles matches where I was forced to not be able to hit the ball, and I know for sure that I was not the only one who encountered it.

You are 100% correct it is stupid but at the moment the devs have made it that way, what is worse is that you said you were on expert.

Hi @JNT_BA . Will you at some point fix the arenas that are generic? It seems to me that most of the up to 500 tournaments are played in a standard arena, which completely takes away the immersion of the game.

@JNT_BA I Said before the sound of footsteps are very bad on clay since last update.
But it’s the same on grass.
You really need to fix it quickly, we only hear that when playing

I don’t think the serve is the main issue, i mean, if the return quality can me more random, it will be maybe enough to balance the game.

Hello, I would like to make an observation regarding the two latest updates, the game has become very easy on expert difficulty, the AI now only defends itself, almost no winners. I love the game but it’s so easy it’s discouraging. Can you fix this?

Really hope in the future there is an option to stop (fully manual) or reduce the amount of assisted movement into a stroke. So with recent patches it seems like the player and ai are in a small way being teleported into the perfect position to make a shot. This is super evident in returning serves. I NEVER use the left joystick to pick which side I think the ball will go I just press X or O right after my opponent hits their shot to power up and use the joystick to aim it. I don’t have to move my player left or right in any instance as I know the player as part of the stroke will just move towards the ball.

This also affects rallies as mistakes In positioning is not punished and rallies are dragged out unnecessarily.

A players footwork and positioning does play such a big part or tennis and right now the hand holding is still such a big part of the gameplay. Hope we get a option to turn it off or even toned down for a harder and more realistic gameplay experience.

yeah i agree. There are some little mechanics in the game that makes it a little too easy. Auto lock in when pressing a shot button is one of them. Serve/Return system is one and little things like for example too high of a shot quality on half volley top spin shots too.
