AFL 23 - Megathread

For a while I was checking to see if I had different versions of the same player (i.e 2023, 2024, TOTW) and selling the lower ranked ones. I figured I only needed one per player, for Objectives…
But then, come this batch of Objectives… there are specific Series requirements… like ‘All Australian’ or ‘State Series’ or ‘Free Agency’… so yeah… maybe holding on to everything is the safer strategy.

I am still kicking myself to this day that I sold of Tristian Xerri for a cheap fix as I felt I didn’t need him and now there is a player specific objective and to find him is like a needle in a haystack!

Rookie mistake, but a lesson learned for the future is to stock up regardless.

What was his rating? Xerri has officially become my white whale.

Edit: finally got him! Unbelievable. Got him as a standard 80 gold in a TotW pack. Must be 2023, I’ll check later. Loving the new objectives.

A bit random but what is the best horne-francis card rating/ stats and what what pack do you guys think in the best for him

I can get super critical of this game (for me the big one is tackle physics or lack thereof) but I’m kind of seeing the other side on the points you raise.

  1. Player objectives seldom if ever land in weekly objectives. True some of the season ones might expire but they’re new and BA’s management of them are TBC. The rest aren’t going anywhere and I was completing almost all around the 700 card mark. Hitting bronze and silver 4/12 packs fill out your ranks pretty quickly.
  2. The ‘Legends’ category has to start somewhere, I’m sure there’s some big names in the pipeline. If there’s a low bar to entry now it’s not something that actively makes the game worse imo. Maybe having a ‘club legends’ or ‘club veteran’ category is the sweet spot. Perhaps maybe.
  3. CB rewards - I think it’s a damned if you do scenario. You want the rewards to be worthwhile, but if you create a new one the minute the old closes it’s the only thing people will play. Maybe we need a slow lane with a huge tally and big rewards that completes every month or so.

LL definitely has huge untapped potential though. We should be having comps with higher difficulty, maybe a finals season comp and ones with novelty twists like random opponents or even one where the reward is tied to your rating. e.g. win a hard match with a team in the low sixties and you get much higher rewards than a team in the eighties (for example). Or you can forgo a reward to earn a rematch token where you get a second chance if you lose, stuff like that. Maybe challenge matches where your goals are three points only, honestly the sky is the limit. I think BA should go crazy here.

There’s actually some easy lower targets at the moment with good rewards if we can defeat them

I wouldn’t know where to start :rofl:
But if anyone has a specific question about certain players I will certainly show what I have if I have them.
One thing I will say is that I went hunting for objective specific players and pulled alot of them by opening whatever state they are from silver packs. Most of them are gold and lower.
