Look forward to hearing other thoughts but I think there is limited returns documenting the packs which different players come from. True the numbers might skew according to the category and number of cards, but from what I can tell (1050 and counting) general cards can land in any pack in line with the % probability, and branded cards get pulled from their respective packs. General cards doesn’t magically appear because you selected the right pack.
Classic cards (i.e. the ones from 10 - 30 years ago) tend to come from state / premiership / club championship decks and as another poster said, don’t sleep on bronze and silver for obscure players.
Tip of the hat to BA for advising plain and simple where some of the event cards come from, although good luck with any attempt to pull the cards straight away. Had a splurge just now and after about ten pulls still looking for most of them.
I’ve found a number of ‘legend’ cards I’ve pulled from Rookie or Top Draftees packs too.
Mind you, majority of the time they are the ‘rookie’ version, meaning they are in the Bronze category (rated 60s), but handy to pick up for cheap if you want to knock off some objectives.
From the TMI dispatch I just crumbled and bought some PTC.
Sturt dropped early for me in the Vic bronze packs, can’t remember if he is bronze for sure but that’s where I found him. I stayed on Vic Bronze for a while and got a ton of cards needed for other challenges, YMMV.
I then tried to find St Kilda Nick Hind - the key word is try, it took forever. Like the objective suggests he’s a first kick first goal card and I found him in Vic silver just when I was about to exhaust my credits. If you don’t have him already, good luck is all I can say.
Unless of course I am an idiot and there is an obvious pack to try for first kick first goal cards.
Absolutely fuming I sold my gold and emerald Patrick Cripps cards from the level progression, can’t reap the rewards with the sapphire and diamond ones now. Can you still get the other ones from regular packs?
I’m a hoarder by nature so chuffed that there’s finally a reward for holding on to stuff.
Pretty sure you can’t pull level rewards in the current season - will defeat the purpose otherwise. Imagine buying an emerald pack and pulling level 40 Cripps in the first week.
TMI dispatch 2:- the Christmas splurge continues - random thoughts:-
maybe stating the obvious but if you’re a kid without much money PTC isn’t worth it. Unless you love collecting more than anything else, what you really want are the season rewards which of course doesn’t require an outlay. When splurgin’ for the most part it’s just enjoyable seeing how many cards BA have created. Their ‘real value’ is simply getting to level 40 a bit faster, because you ain’t pulling obsidian that’s for sure.
having said that, if you do get the bug there’s a lot to be gained by smashing the bronze packs. 8k PTC can go an awful long way when you’re reselling cards you already have and when the occasional emerald card shows up happy days. I once pulled a couple of sapphires from a bronze hall (hand on heart) and the resell kept me going for another 5 or 6 packs. And if you don’t have the cards, the cost is something like 50, 75, 100 PTC progressively irrespective of the colour. Good value.
I don’t know why but bronze SOO packs tend to have the highest strike rate for rarer cards. I have pulled sapphire Callum Mills probably around eight times now from cheaper packs. Super weird.
some of the objectives getting a bit more interesting in general (e.g. keep oppo scoreless, win with behinds etc - keep it up!)
a lot of the rookie photos are freaking hilarious. I don’t know if you’re selecting from a range of potential mugshots or it’s done on autopilot but seeing veteran players as goofy kids has been an unexpected highlight. Also seeing some of the older players on the field with 80’s hairdos is freaking brill.

I’m occasionally not asked to resell cards I already own and I am starting to notice straight up dupes in the collection. Not ‘same but different’ - the same card. If you need specific examples I can write some down.
the expiry date for ‘event’ objectives was removed - can you please confirm when they expire exactly - is it tomorrow or the end of the season?
lucky last - next Christmas period can we have the season end in late January? Unfair on players who have already crunched but I suspect active users will plummet ~ 27 Dec - 12 Jan. I can see a lot of people not getting through this one.
Completed the Level 20 Patrick Cripps objective multiple times this morning and none of the contested marks have counted. Wasted an hour and a hour doing that for nothing
Is anyone else having a problem when trying to start a game. Ive tried everything to fix it but nothing works. Its saying i have more then one xp multiplier cards on
Just give it a day or two. Not the best solution I know but everything has turned up eventually, at least for me but also I think a lot of other people here too.
